Welcome Esayan, It is unrealistic to expect to regain Wilsonian Armenia. Perhaps one day, at most, Kars and Ardahan, with Ani. The Jews did not achieve retaking their territory alone. The Western powers set the stage for it to occur. Furthermore, many Jews were willing to repatriate there. They are under constant threat from their neighbors. Our situation is presently different. The Turks are not actively trying to eliminate Armenia. I do not doubt that there are some Turks who envision this, but the situation is quite different from the circumstances that Israel finds itself in. Do we want to be in a constant state of war as Israel finds itself in? Better that we try to find common ground with the Turks. They would like to have our business. They have justifiable grievances concerning their treatment in the Balkans (Yes, I know they acted like overlords to the local populations for centuries). We have justifiable grievances against the Turkish state, for past and present activities. We can not change our neighborhood. We are in a difficult geographical position. As I stated earlier, if Turks were railroaded out of Yerevan, they should be compensated. (edit note: Kars has clarified in another thread that Igdir Mayor's claims do not coincide with historical reality). The Turks can start making amends by restoring Armenian Churches, allowing churches to be repaired and honoring the property rights of Armenians and other Christians past and present. Their approach today is not one that coincides with the EU charter. The Genocide did not end in 1923. Cultural Genocide continues in Turkey to this day.

Ever since Turner left CNN it has become the more subtle mouthpiece of the arch-conservatives. Fox News is the less subtle mouthpiece, while CNN is the more subtle mouthpiece. The Armenian Genocide issue threatens oil interests.

If the Genocide issue is resolved, Armenians will have to work to make peace among themselves. Before the major Genocide occurred (Armenians were massacred in large numbers before this) there were major rifts in the Armenian community. Just look to the ROA today, where Avetissian spews his filth every day. The authorities had to jail him and warn him about his activities toward internal unrest.

There is no hope for Turkey. How could Erdogan say such a thing? Apology? I really think that their EU membership is in big trouble. France will never let them in. Ditto Germany. They will be blackballed by a few countries. Their strategic influence is waning also. Hopefully a pro-US Kurdistan will be established in northern Iraq. Armenia has to try harder to forge ties with the US. It seems that Rumsfeld is in Baku negotiating for a US base in Azerbaijan.

Verginne, Get over it, they have paved the way for us, by establishing precedents. Focus your energy on getting justice for Armenians. Perhaps, Arpa, that is what they are referring to. But it is not a "blue book." Turkish "diplomats" are playing a big game. The subject of Armenian massacres was taboo for decades. Only when it meant to jeopardize something they wanted, did they begin to discuss it. Armenian women converted to Islam had remained "underground." Ataturk's adopted daughter had remained "underground." Generations of Turks had been indoctrinated as to what had transpired. The Turks have found themselves in a bind. Talaat thought he had solved the "Armenian Question." Looks like he did not solve it, but globalized it as the progeny of the survivors now exist in every corner of the globe.

Your quote was just dangling in space, with no reference to what blue book the Turk was speaking of. One would assume that it was the famous "Blue Book" that I posted a link to.

Is this Edward Tashjian or Edward Tashji "the Real McCoy?" Does anyone know anything about him, his family, his background? How can any Armenian state what he states? If he stated that there were isolated Armenians rebelling and causing mayhem due to the oppressive Ottoman policies, I could understand that. The evidence of a planned, systematic campaign of Genocide is so overwhelming that this guy must not be Armenian.

A good part of the area the map in this website considers Kurdistan was allocated to Armenia in the Treaty of Sevres. "Greater Kurdistan" includes much of historic Armenia and a section of the ROA. Do the Kurds plan to "liberate" parts of the ROA as well?
