Exactly, people are hungry, unemployed and isntead of investing to solve these problems, some build churches, as if there is a shortage of them. I try to understand Dispora- they may not trust the government either, they see the country is robbed and sold, so they prefer building churches. However, not many of them see the Armenian reality and tend to blame those leaving the country. There is an intensive financial flow from Diaspora to Armenia, but it does not affect people's life standards. The financial flow does not stop, so I guess the current state of affaires is mutually beneficial both for the government and Diaspora.

I agree with you, bellthecat, when saying that there is something wrong with the mentality of a nation...I feel sorry for them, they don't know who they are. Of course, whatever Turkey does is just to obtain the long-awaited membership. Armenians know very well what Turkish diplomacy is able to do. That is not the point here. The thing is that something is really wrong with the European mentality, too. Look at their criteria for Turkey's membership. Look at the pro-turkish moods in Europe nowadays. I don't know wether negotiations will start or not in December, but in case Turkey becomes a member, the EU will collapse.

Taking into consideration the absence of permanent Armenian diplomatic representation in that country and the way the Armenian Republic is used to deal with its citizens, the odds can be against us.
