ASALA-"Armenian Secret Army for the Liberation of Armenia"

ASALA is the most talked-about Armenian terrorist organization, in the new period of the Armenian terrorism between 1973 and 1985. The firm information about its foundation, organization structure and activities are yet to be published. Various Armenian sources and publications give some information about some people and ASALA, and they often announce the results obtained from the publications of this organization and terrorist group. The information includes those desired to be disseminated or those which are not found inappropriate to announce. From one standpoint, ASALA's foundation is attributable to incidents emerged in Lebanon, it is regarded as part of activities of Palestinian Liberation Organizations in Lebanon, and it is supported that it is these activities which have inspired its foundation. On the other hand according to some publications, several Armenians gathered and founded a new terrorist organization which created the most striking and efficient terrorist activities in a short period of time. All of these are far from fully explaining the foundation of ASALA. The existing hesitations will continue for a long time unless the conditions under which ASALA has emerged as an organization, is known and the gap it has filled has been satisfactorily clarified.

First of all, it must be known that the first movements of the Armenian terrorism in the new period have emerged as a requirement of the policies and objectives of the Tashnak Armenian terrorist organization. It has been clarified with various evidence that Tashnaks have completely supported the western view in the historical process and in the described period and that they have pursued a policy based on the Turkish objectives and implementing terrorism at a limited level. Actually, neither their structure nor their historical development is suitable to display any approach and conduct other than above. There is a gap in this environment. An attractive future, closely concerning the Marxist and new revolutionary generations and called new Armenian resistance organizations in particular as put in France, is presumed to be a gap related to the Soviets and the Eastern countries. In fact, this field has been already filled long time ago by Hınchaks. And since 1960, Hınchaks have been paving the ground for the new terrorism with various views. However, Hınchaks do not appear around, and a new terrorist organization called ASALA emerges with the desire to be seen as new in every aspect. Considering the preparatory factors of the new Armenian terrorism and reviewing in particular Hınchaks' goals, policies and objectives may lead us to think that Hınchaks constitute a terrorist group. Nevertheless, the conditions in Lebanon, new developments caused this group to appear before the world public opinion as a new Armenian Terrorist group, and this organization has become known with the terrorist incidents for which it has claimed responsibility. Actually, there is no remarkable change in the situation. In the historical process, both terrorist organizations are on the stage. One is more evident with its terrorist groups and teams, while the other is invisible with all manpower, experience in addition to the immaterial and psychological support remain under a cover of an Armenian terrorist group, and this group performs terrorist acts through groups and teams of lower level.

1. Foundation and Organization Structure

ASALA was founded in 1975. Of its founders comprised of 6-7 members, Agop Agopyan, one of the two most active members of the terrorist organization, was the known leader. The other was Agop Tarakçıyan who performed the murder acts himself and terrorist incidents and who made the organization survive while Agop Agopyan was absent. The latter died in 1981. The former remained as the leader of the organization except the periods of various injuries and treatments. He came to be known as a worker of the Palestinian Liberation Organizations. He bore the name Mucahit.

The structure of the organization was suitable for the model of the Armenian terrorist organizations.

The Lebanese Central Committee assumed the top management of the organization. In particular, in 1980, this committee took an important shape in Lebanon. And it got the air of Büron.

Some of the assigned affiliated sub-institutions and bodies to the Central Committee were the Political Committee-Financial Committee Propaganda and Publication Committee-Intelligence Committee and Military Committee. The military committee was a body to which also the act teams were affiliated.

2. Goals and Objectives

ASALA published to the world public its political program declared in 1981 with its goals and objectives. Accordingly, the goal of ASALA was to found a democratic, socialist and revolutionary Armenia united under the leadership of the Government. It was clearly understood where this defined Government was. The Soviet Union and socialist states were requested every kind of assistance and the Soviet Armenia was regarded as a base for the long war of the public.

The enemies fell under two groups in the political program. The first of these was called local reactionaries who were the Armenians against ASALA or not for ASALA, being Tashnak Armenian terrorist group, while the second was shown as the Turkish Imperialism supported by the international imperialism.

ASALA accepted and proclaimed that the basic way for rescuing the Armenian territory (?) is to commit revolutionary violent acts. Under the program, ASALA would support those who refused the hegemony of the upper classes and make efforts to set up and strengthen coalitions within the international revolutionary movement. For which violence and terrorism were the bases.

In order for the objectives to be achieved within ASALA, it did not matter if the terrorist acts were committed particularly against Turks or friends of Turks or if official or distinguished people were selected. "Terrorism was an incident and what mattered was the dimension of it. The objectives might be given secondary importance. For this reason, massacres, killings which would cause great repercussions and bombings were prioritized, and not much emphasis was placed on the casualties being a child, woman, Turk or being of any other nationality. However, every tine, Turks and Turkey were prioritized for the terrorist acts. The reasons of the attacks and massacres at the Ankara-Paris Airports, Istanbul and Kapalıçarşı and Orly attack were simply the effect and repercussion that the dimension of such incident would bring.

3. Strategies, approaches and conducts

The basic strategy in ASALA was to gather all the progressive Armenian movements all over the world at one point in Lebanon and to guide them from a center. . In short, the progressive Armenians would unite under one roof and initiate the "ASALA Public Movement". This would consequently enable the progressive Armenian powers to engage in a formal cooperation and to combine their powers.

ASALA tried to implement this part of its strategy by calling for a meeting in Lebanon for all the progressive Armenians in the world. The wording "progressive" meant "socialist-Marxist".

The second stage of the strategy was to spread terrorism through this union of power along with the assistance of the socialist governments, and start the war period. The Armenian terrorism was a part of the liberation struggles in the Middle East, and could unite with any movement against the integrity of Turkey. The cooperation between ASALA and PKK occurred as a result of this strategy.

The approaches and conduct in ASALA reflected a full terrorism. Terrorism at every level of administration and implementation was considered to be symbol of this organization. Leaders killed one another and liquidated those whom they did not like and made them kill. Apart from these, every terrorist team was attempted to be introduced to the world public as a new terrorist organization and every kind of propaganda was made in this regard. The responsibility for the murders were claimed by various, newly-known organizations. Attached is a list at the end of the study regarding the efforts how the death-killing-bombing-rebel teams was shown as an organization under different names. The reader may carefully follow through this list what such a great number of Armenian organization may do. However, none of these could go beyond being a team or group, and remained as the machines of murder affiliated to and guided by ASALA.

4. Political developments

Regarding ASALA, which had been accepted to be founded in 1975, the political developments became effective in two phases. It was strengthened with new powers it had been provided during the Paris Armenian Conference held in 1979. It was reinforced in 1981. It was divided into two in 1983.

The terrorist organization, which had been founded in 1975, performed its first act by assassination of the first secretary of the Turkish Embassy in Beirut, Oktay Cerit by one of its founders Agop Tarakçıyan in 16 February 1976. It was involved in the conflicts among Palestinians until 1979. Contacts were initiated with the Armenian terrorists in France during the Armenian conference held in Paris in 1979. And the organization gained new members; new blood. The most well-known ones among these were Alex Yenikomşiyan and Monte Melkiyan. In 1981,many terrorist acts were committed by these new groups. ASALA started to threaten Switzerland on one hand and France on the other hand. The New Armenian Resistance Organization in France announced that "Azad Hay" in Canada and "Gaitzer" in United Kingdom joined ASALA: The terrorism continued with great efficiency and became common during these years and conflicts started in the central staff In particular, the terrorist acts performed by ASALA, targeting also the innocent people discredited it in various public opinion polls. Following the Israeli invasion of Lebanon, the ASALA executives were compelled to leave Lebanon along with the Palestinians. The organization was divided into two in July 1983.

The Agop Agopyan Group were settled in Greece and the Middle East. It continued terrorism without discriminating between the Turkish and foreign people or woman or child. Orly continued massacres and attacks.

In the Western Europe, it got the name "ASALA Revolutionary Movement". It followed a policy which was based upon a more moderate approach and targeting only Turkish people. The two leaders of this movement were Monte Melkoyan and Ara Toranyan. Toranyan led a Paris-based group called Armenian National Movement. This group qualified the Orly attack as a completely Fascist attack.

Melkonyan, on the other hand, stated that they aimed at establishing the political ground for the Armenian struggle. According to this, the movements had two aspects: (1) activate the Armenians (2)Cooperate with other powers which are taking action against Turkey. Melkoyan who was born in Iran put forward the strategy to forge alliances at the second stage. Agopyan continued his activities, too.

5. Support and relations

ASALA is provided a triple support as a result of its aims and ongoing policies: (1) Support by the Soviets-Eastern Block and Socialist countries (2) Support of countries, with a policy based upon weakening Turkey through internal and external threats and terrorism, as required by their geopolitical expectations: Greece, Syria etc. (3) Support provided by communist parties, indirectly from Hınchak Armenian terrorist organization and its sympathizers, and from the Armenian churches, though they hold counter-views.

ASALA's relations were arranged, in line with the strategy they were implementing, by giving a priority to the non-Armenian terrorist organizations, which were in an attempt to pose a threat, and use terrorism against Turkey. These included at the stage between 1975 and 1980, the Palestinian Liberation Organization, communist parties, activist groups and secret organizations of some states. In April 1980, ASALA expanded its relations with the joint act agreement signed with PKK in Sidon, Lebanon. It is by this way, a unity in view and act was established between ASALA and PKK.

In actuality, both organizations share the same aims, and have similar structure and views. At the stage starting after 1983, ASALA developed its relations in compliance with the strategy of Monte Melkoyan. The basis of the strategy was to focusing on the use of terrorism in Turkey, and establishing relations with every organization which was directly or indirectly capable of implementing this strategy in the form of acts. Some of the leading ones are PKK, similar institutions, TKP and other communist organizations.

6. Publications and means of communication

The most important and official publication of ASALA is "HAYASTAN".

Besides, the magazines "Haykar", "Armenia" and "Kaytzer" published in London are included among the leading publications.

ASALA started its radio broadcasts in Beirut in 1981, and made broadcasts one hour a day with the title "Voice of Lebanese Armenians". Apart from these, the communication means and public communication systems of the countries with which it has relations, are providing ASALA with support in broadcasting.

According to some, as any other terrorist organization ASALA closely cooperated with IRA, PLO and number of Greek Revolutionary movements.

We have exhausted this topic here:

http://armenians.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=6804

BTW Tashnaktzutiun party has never been close ally of ASALA. Some renegate members joined ASALA and then ASALA had split into two (or even more fractions).

Modern turkish terrorism is also very interesting topic. Turkish secret services up to this day support chechen, arab and other fundamentalist terrorist organizations. It is known that Osama aquired properties in Turkey and Azerbaidjan thruough "strow man's"". In the 80's government sponsored turkish terrorism flourished in Eastern Europe and was engeged in illigel weapon trafficing. Not to speak about the attempt to kill the Pope. Osman Chelik, Ahmed Aghgha and number of turkish terrorists made the headlines. Sabotage and bombings were also part of the turkish terroristic arsenal. In Bulgaria more than a dozen terrorist attacks were carried out by turkish terrorist organizations. Same occured in Northern Greece, Macedonia, Kosovo, Albania.

The best turk, is the dead turk! :)

If Turkey were an honorable nation, there would be no ASALA. Even today it treats it's religious and ethnic minorities as second class citizens. They thought they had found a solution for their Armenian problem, but it has come back to bite them. Why do you think that they have a Kurdish problem? Are the Welsh or Scots agitating for seperation from England?

Hey Nasty! Kokmush!

Do you know that "hit and run" is a felony?

You come, you lay an egg, you lob a stink bomb and you run away. Typical. Just like your compatriots and your ancestors you suffer of the disease of cowardice.

You never responded to other counterpoints, you never responded to my post about the fable of "long standing" Turkish-Jewish "friendship". You have no leg to stand on.

And now you, just like your cowardly cousins think you have discovered the definitive and ultimate reason to justify the murderous brutality of your people. Except that you know absolutely nothing.

You don't deserve a response but I will write this for the benefit of others. Turks and Turkey will spare no deception, no lies to justify their hatred of the Armenian and Armenia. Azerbaijan and Karabagh for blockade, pursuit of Genocide for avoiding diplomatic contact... and so on. And now you come with a "brand new revelation" to justify the Genocide. If you were not the coward that you are you would at least reveal the source of that long drawn garbage about the Asala you posted above. It is obvious that you did not write it, since you can barely spell your own name.

Read your own post again.

It says that Asala was first formed in 1975.

How many years before the Genocide was that?

In 1965 the entire nation of Armenians commemorated the 50th annivarsay of the Genocide after which the issue took a new impetus. 1965 was ten years before 1975 and it was 50 years after 1915.

Let us consider the major ones, which in no way trivializes the ones in between. What is known as the Great Massacre (boyuk ktal, 300,000 massacred) happened in 1895.

Where was Asala then?

The Adana Massacre took place in 1909, another several hundred thousand murdered.

Where was Asala then?

Then, of course the Big One, 1915, 1.5 million murdered.

Where was Asala then?

Go ahead, find some other excuse to bury your head in the sand. You should consider changing the name of your country to deve kushu, ostrich, turkey is an innocent bird. In either case, turkey or ostrich, it does not matter, your feathers will be ruffled as never before. If you knew what is best for you you would go past the Caspian before that long (turkey)neck of yours is shortened. Once this Iraq mess is cleared Turkey will be isolated as never before. If you think the fall of the Soviet Union remanded Turkey to sidelines you ain't seen nothinn yet.

Times are a changing, and very fast.

There were lots of publications about ASALA and the above is one of the poorest in terms of languege, structure and ideas they want to convey. Even the refined turkish propaganda machine with their western educated professorship are unable of writing a normal propaganda piece of shi..

Those savage armenians were killinig turks with no reason, and even foreigners blah, blah, blah..... Acctually very few foreigners died as a result of Armenian terrorist atacks. Most of the time the dog turks were meticulously gunned down, often without a trace or evidence. Very clear job.

Unlike turkish terrorism, whereas the ultimate goal was to cause not only demage, bul also panic and widespread hazard or desaster (like the failed attempt to poison the water reservours and beer brewery in Harmanly, close to Haskovo, Bulgaria) Armenian terrorist eliminated turkish officals with the sole purpose to bring the Armenian question to the mass media.

Balakian's book is a best seller. Weem's book is in the trash heap. Turkey thinks they are fooling the US on the troops issue, but they will soon have a rude awkening when the rug is pulled out from under them.

Nasty,

I see that your ASALA timeline ends in 1985. The number of Turkish casualties is well under 100. ASALA apparently hasn't been in operation for almost 20 years. What shall we say? ASALA was bad. Killing innocent people is bad. I, for one, am sorry about that and apologize on behalf of Armenians like me who are remorseful about it. I hope that the purpose of your thread was to get an apology and not to use ASALA as some sort of proof that a Genocide didn't happen or that Armenians are evil people.

Now, what do you have to say about the elimination of virtually all Armenians from Turkey wihin a span of roughly 7 years beginning in 1915? I have remorse for the few dozen Turks killed by ASALA. Do you have any remorse for the 1 million plus Armenians killed by the Ittihadists? I don't think you do. In fact, I think you wish they had managed to get us all, don't you?

real story from past instead of supposedly genocide

In 1919, Armenian-origined Turkish citizen Berch Kerestecian Turker who saved Ataturk’s life, has been rewarded by Rotary 2420th Region Governorship, after 50 years from his dead. Yesterday, at the ceremony in Cemal Reshit Rey Concert Hall, attorney of Turkish Armenian Patriarch Mesrob 2 th, Krikor Damadian took delivery of honour certificate of Berch Kerestecian Turker, who informed that the ship will be attacked by torpedos, which Mustafa Kemal Ataturk arrived to Samsun in 19th May 1919. At the ceremony, historian, author Cemal Kutay and American historian who known as Turkish friend, Prof. Dr. Justin McCarthy been rewarded as ‘‘Reward of faithful authors for history makers’’. Prof. Dr. McCarthy stated that against to supposedly Armenian genocide, we must struggle for long-term. He said ‘‘To struggle with lies is not easy. If a mistake is made, maybe your grandchildren would have to give Erzurum, Kars, and Van.

Professor Justin McCarthy, speaking at a conference in London, said that a source known as the "Blue Book" chosen by Armenians to prove their claims of genocide is one of the products of British war propaganda bureau's efforts of misinformation during first world war.

The Blue Book written by Viscount Bryce and Arnold Toynbee has been used as proof that Armenians and the victims of the Jewish Holocaust suffered the same fate in history. This book has been said to be a product of British intelligence designed to promote and promulgate lies during World War I. Britain had set up the war propaganda bureau at Wellington House for the sole purpose of promoting lies and misinformation on Germany and the Ottoman Empire. The British were in full co-operation with American missionaries in Anatolia and the American Embassy in Istanbul conjured a so called Armenian genocide based on gossip, hear-say and erroneous information.

The real purpose behind this exercise was to create and strengthen an image in the minds of British military officers that the Turk were evil, horrible and untrustworthy McCarthy adds.

PROFESSOR JUSTIN MCCARTHY...

HISTORIAN AND EXPERT ON OTTOMAN AFFAIRS

All documents at the Wellington House where the British carried out their propaganda were destroyed when the war ended. One document that survived, however, was the Blue Book (it is documented that many more of these books were published and copied for other countries). This book is currently being used around the world as a legal document on the genocide.

AMERICAN HISTORIAN PROVES THE FACTS

The American historian and expert on Ottoman affairs was a recent speaker at the London School of Oriental and African Studies. He commented on a few of the stomach churning activities of the British during the first world war. He stated, When the war began, a secret propaganda unit was set up at Wellington House, London (on September 2, 1914). This units sole aim was to provide support for Britain, smear Britains enemies, obtain support for the British view through the use of Americans, and to keep British morale high during the war. This unit was headed by Charles Masterman a Liberal m.p. He was a close friend of Lloyd George. There also was an American intellectual named Viscount Bryce working in this bureau who had many influential friends in the U.S. Arnold Toynbee, young historian, meanwhile was one of Bryces close friends at the time.

SEVEN MILLION DOCUMENTS

At the end of the war all documents and records of work at the war propaganda bureau were destroyed, and its existence was only admitted in 1935. However, the sources of the propaganda bureau were discovered due to one records book surviving until present day. Publications prepared in this bureau and the existence of seven million documents which were very efficiently sent to the United States after the war were also exposed. Many famous authors of the time as Arnold Bennett and John Buchan were also employed by the Wellington House, where they published brochures, books and statements for the war effort.

GERMANY, THE ACTUAL TARGET

Although Germany was the actual target of activities at Wellington House, the Ottoman Empire, having sided with Germany during the war received its fair share of false propaganda. No matter how sympathetic the British officers felt towards their Turkish compatriots, the image that Turkish officers were bad, evil and untrustworthy was strengthened by such slanderous data.

NON-REAL NAMES

Work carried out by those at Wellington House on Ottomans involved many so called authors and writers whose existence could not be verified and thus, the information remains unconfirmed. For example, there was apparently a Syrian member of the Ottoman Committee of Union and Progress Party, named Faiz whose memoirs are mentioned in publications of the Wellington House. This persons existence is totally make-belief and his statements on Talat *****, a complete fallacy since he never existed. Wellington House also proves the close co-operation which existed between them and the American diplomats and missionaries based in Turkey during that time. Since it is documented that these groups were close to the Armenians in Turkey, their so called information from Turkey is a total fabrication.

BLUE BOOK ORDERED BY LLOYD GEORGE

Public law and order was severely disrupted as a result of Armenians revolting against Ottoman authority in eastern Anatolia, which led Bryce and Toynbee to concoct material to document alleged atrocities committed by Ottomans. Lloyd George asked to collect these documents in the Blue Book. This document was later submitted to the British parliament and has since been used as a classic documentation by radical nationalist Armenian groups.

TOYNBEE WAS AN ANTI-TURK

It is thought that Toynbee believed in the authenticity and truthfulness of material received from American missionaries in Anatolia. However, he also added some spice to these imaginary stories, since it was his country that was at war with Turkey and he thought it would be right to lie in his reports. As was proved in his late career, Toynbee was indeed an avid Turk hater, but was too far away from the events of eastern Turkey in 1916 to document anything.

It is easy to see far away from such events Armenians living in Turkey were and in looking at Toynbees data. Toynbee also seems to have exaggerated their relıabılıty for they turned and fought against their former protector for promises made by outsiders. For example so many anecdotes mentioned by western observers are not by western travelers but by a local Armenians travelling only short distances. One tenth of the anecdotes do not even have a source of any kind. Other sources are generally hearsay and have no witnesses who can attest to the so called crimes.

NO REACTIONS FROM TURKEY

All propaganda against Germany by Wellington House has been forgotten, yet unfortunately Bryce - Toynbee documents have been recognized as true in Britain and U.S. These documents have always been used by radical militant Armenians to pursue their goals. There is no information at hand about whether Turkey has shown any reactions against the impact of these documents. The mentioned Blue Book has been published more then once. Ara Sarafian who is to publish the book for the third time does not mention the fact that the books contents were prepared at Wellington House and that its sources are untrustworthy. Thus, propaganda carried out by the British during World War I continues to spread its venom against all Turkish people living around the world.

Yes, there are many Armenian churches in Turkey - and MOST in ruins:

BTW - Toynbee reiterated the factualness of the accounts well after the war when there would be any need to keep up a pretense etc. And while the blue book may have been used as propaganda - the bottom line is that it is comprised of true accounts - and these are largely corroberated by other sources - incliuding those of Turkish allies - the Germans and the Austrians - all painting a very clear picture. So you nasty little turkey - go and stuff yourself.

Nasty, you are looking at the facts and the story from a subjective point of view. You don't want to find the truth, you just want to vindicate your people, and to do that, you pick and choose the facts to suit your needs.

McCarthy is only one source who writes about the Genocide. To say that his viewpoint is in the minority is an extraordinary understatement. If you had ever bothered to read what others have written about the Genocide, then maybe you could carry on an intelligent conversation regarding this topic.

Regarding Armenians living in Turkey. You say there are thousands living there. I might remind you that just before 1915, there were AT LEAST 1.25 million Armenians according to what your present government says, and 2 million according to what the consensus says. By 1918, that number was reduced to 200,000, and today it is about 50,000, and almost all of them live in Istanbul. This land where you say, "thousands of Armenians live" is where millions of Armenians lived for almost 3000 years, and now they do not live there any more. Can you understand the mangitude of what must have happened in 1915 for an entire population of people to disappear in a matter of 3 years from a land in which they lived for almost 3000 years? CAN YOU THINK ABOUT THAT FAR A LITTLE WHILE!

Regarding Dashnaks and Hinchaks? You don't know anything about Dashnaks or Hinchaks other than what you have been brainwashed into believing. But let's assume that your government is right and all Dashnaks and Hinchaks were traitors to the Ottoman government. Was everyone a Dashnak or Hinchak? Were women and children Dashnaks and Hinchaks, and even if they were, could they still be a threat? Why were ALL ARMENIANS targeted and not just the Dashnaks and Hinchaks? Please don't just come back with answers from ATAA, do some homework and some independent thinking for a change, and don't be so lazy.

Regarding Armenian churches. There are 40 or 41 Armenian churches in operation in Turkey today, and almost all are in Istanbul. At the turn of the century, there were over 2000 Armenian churches and monasteries operating throughout Turkey, most of them are ancient structures that you should consider national treasures, but which are completely destroyed are laying in ruins. Should we thank you for only destroying 1,960 of them and not every one of them?

OK guys, I think all of you gave a little too much importances to an insect...

Hey, Nasty trash, you are so "well" answering everyones posts here... still I asked you just a simple and little question... will you answer it anytime soon? Or are you afraid that I will place you where you belong like I have done so many times?

OK, now lets make a deal(and give him more importance in my turn), you see, I am considering you a little more than what you worth as an insect...

I will give you the opportunity to defend your cases, but in order to do that, you must prove that you know of what you are talking about, like you claimed above.

So, here is the deal, I will forget the question I asked, and forget that you refused to answer to it... and I will ask you to choose any historian, scholar or whomever you want, that support your point, I am generous here. The only thing I ask, is what any person interested in a serious discussion wants... to bring them just one by one... for instance, if you choose McCarthy, Lewis, Lowry, Shaw or whom ever other individual in different flavour but with the same smell, you bring them one by one... we discuss about one individual works and studies conclusions, and THEN we start up with another individual and another...

I am not choosing anyone, I am just giving you the opportunity to choose, I give you the opportunity to choose your arm, so go ahead, but if on the other hand you again ignore my post, and start copy pasting materials then it will show to everyone what kind of person you are.

So, Please, I ask anyone here to not answer this above "thing" before he answer to my post and accept what I do propose.

Lets see if the individuals he name, the works he refer, the articles he post, if he really know of what they are about.

I know, I am too generous and to kind, so please no need to remind it to me. :D

Oh and... for other readers, this is what Nasty comes with. :) And my little answer. I'm like Phantom, I can not resist I guess.

Is that the same McCarthy, which in his work refering that Armenians started to attack Muslims, to support that claim footnoted it by refering to Usshers account and Nogales? Which both indicate that it was the Ottoman who started attacking Armenians in Van?

Ussher

http://armenians.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=6989

Nogales

http://armenians.com/forum/index.php?showt...3102&hl=nogales

What McCarthy did is against his profession, having found no reference for his claim, footnoted it with two references which say absolutly the opposit of what he claims... No wonder that his last work about the Turks contain absolutly no footnotes at all... I guess that was too harsh a thing for him to provide evidences for what he alleges.

Toynbee in his autobiography refered to all those propaganda stuff, but recognised the Armenian genocide as an attempt to exterminate...(he even call it a genocide) Dr. Struermer that was there, reporting German Turkish affairs, and reported in the Zeitung in his work claims that what has been reported in the Blue book was very close to the truth.

You can read a part of his work here.

http://armenians.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=7134

Hilberg document his two major works about the Holocaust, by also using documents from such houses established during WWII... Would McCarthy claim that the Holocaust did not happen because of this? Or that the references used were not true?

SEVEN MILLION DOCUMENTS

At the end of the war all documents and records of work at the war propaganda bureau were destroyed, and its existence was only admitted in 1935. However, the sources of the propaganda bureau were discovered due to one records book surviving until present day. Publications prepared in this bureau and the existence of seven million documents which were very efficiently sent to the United States after the war were also exposed. Many famous authors of the time as Arnold Bennett and John Buchan were also employed by the Wellington House, where they published brochures, books and statements for the war effort.

WHat that has anything to do on disproving the genocide?

GERMANY, THE ACTUAL TARGET

Although Germany was the actual target of activities at Wellington House, the Ottoman Empire, having sided with Germany during the war received its fair share of false propaganda. No matter how sympathetic the British officers felt towards their Turkish compatriots, the image that Turkish officers were bad, evil and untrustworthy was strengthened by such slanderous data.

Oh I see, like the image of the Germans in WWII?

This is untrue.

See the above 2 threads refered, The Blue book references of names of witnesses have been refered by Toynbee, recently Gomidas has published the uncensured version of the Blue Book, discrediting McCarthy claims.

NO REACTIONS FROM TURKEY

All propaganda against Germany by Wellington House has been forgotten, yet unfortunately Bryce - Toynbee documents have been recognized as true in Britain and U.S. These documents have always been used by radical militant Armenians to pursue their goals. It is ironic that Sarafian edition of the book is refered, since it destroy pratically all the claims made by this article... it is also funny that this article fail to mention that Safarian edition is the unpublished version which never was published before.

As for the reason why it is only the Blue Book which is still refered, while the other documents of the Houses are ignored, it is simply because the authors have always claimed their orginality, and unlike any other works published by the house, it is the only, where a Key of names and places have been written, proving that they were authentic reports... the Blue Book has been published to attack Germany, not the Ottoman, when they have exploited every avenues to Attack Germany, they have decided to use documentations against the Turks and trying to involve the Germans in the story.... the propaganda was against the Germans not the Turks... and it is so Ironic that McCarthy talk about propaganda and tries to imply that propaganda necessarly means lies, when him himself said in a conference in Turkey that Turkey should use propaganda... later, he commented that propaganda does not necessarly means lies... I guess being consistant was never one of his strong characters.

"İT ÜRÜR KERVAN YÜRÜR"

AS FOR HINCHAK

The charter and programme of the Hinchak Society was printed in Istanbul in 1909, submitted to the Ministry of Interior pursuant to the Law on Associations and received the approval letter no 90 of 8 February 1909. The charter consists of five parts.

The ledger of resolutions seized by the security forces show that the following resolutions were adopted in q910, 1911, 1912 and 1913:during operations:

a) Efforts will be spent to secure weapons, ammunition and explosives.

B) Weapons training will be given by Marufian, Yavruian and Candan.

c) Propaganda work will be accelerated.

d) Relations will be established with the Tashnak Connittee.

e) Similar relations will be maintained with the Union and Progress Party.

f) Support will be given to the Orsfan, Cang, Gochnak, Jurachak, Penchak, Badami, Tejoheng, Maro and Paros bands in Van.

The Hinchak Committee held its third congress in Turkey on 24 July 1914. The congress, held with 28 delegates from 51 branch offices, was chaired by Cangulian with Tancutian as the secretary and the following decision was adopted:

"Taking into account the great responsibility necessitated by our goals and the dangers involved, and in an attempt to prove that we are a civilised people, care will be exercised for always avoiding adventures and actions not thoroughly planned in advance, and we will bear in mind the fact that a balanced attitude and proper means are the most suitable tools for reaching our final objectives. "

On the basis of this decision, the Hinchak leaders started to leave Turkey after 1896 and disagreements soon arose among them, with the result that the party broke into two factions. One faction was called the true Hinchaks (Nazarbeg’s followers) and the other came to be known as the reformed (Veragasmial) one. The latter group was led by an Armenian named Arpiar Arpiarian.

It seems that both factions acted in obedience to the beliefs and opinions of their leaders rather than under valid principles and programmes. The disagreement among them often led to street fights, some of them were beaten and many were killed.

The Armenian people, realising that the Hinchaks were Marxists, gradually withdrew themselves from it. The divergence came to a head in 1902 when militants from both sides began murdering each other on streets in England, Russia, Egypt, Bulgaria, Caucasus and Iran. Though some small bands continued bearing the name of Hinchak, they lost their previous strength after the Van resurrection. Another factor contributing to the disappearance of the Hinchak Committee was the fact that several Hinchak leaders had seen the true intentions of the Russians and left the organisation.

DASHNAK ANOTHER TIME

Nasty trash, before making judgemental attacks against my family, learn to make the difference between your anus and your mouth, even if for you, there is no real difference between those two, for the members of this board there is. It is evident by now, that you can't have any discussion of any values...

Don,t project what your parents and your society have made of you, on others.

Mr. Donkey Esh just exposed himself(to others, not me, I already knew what he was) and lost an occasion to shut his mouth, I hope by now Phantom, you won,t have any objection that this retard above with his cheap shut be given a warning for having slandered my family...

Have I not said that when a denialist Turk is cornered, he always answer by.

a) Telling me how ungraduated I am,

b.) Changing the entire subject

c) Start barking like a dog

d) ...

e) ...

...

So nasty, you copy pasted another stuff?

Now, lets see from where Nasty Trash reference about the Hinshaks comes from...

It comes directly from Major General İhsan. Armenian Issue with Decuments from the Military History Publications of the Department of Military History and Strategic Studies, Turkish General Staff Printing Plant, Ankara 1984, 2nd ed.

Now lets teach others who Ihsan was, who this murderer and exterminator was, now considered as a hero...

This General was in the same excurtions as General Halil(Envers uncle) having set a plan to not let one Armenian alive, he openly affirmed that his men have killed 500,000 Armenians.

Lieutenant von Lüttichau, during the inspection of the front reported.

General A.Ihsan has reported to Germans many times and deliberately that he would not leave one Armenian alive in the zone that he controlled.

A.A Türkei 183/54, A44066 p.12(From his Summer 1918 report)

Another reference to show what kind of character this General was.

Ali Ihsan *****, controlling the army corps stationed in Van, entered in Tabriz at the end of June 1918 as commander of the Ottoman forces in Azerbedjan. In a small speech addressed to the Armenian delegation, he said roughly what follows: "I massacred half-million of your co-religionists. I can offer you a cup of tea too."

French ministry of foreign affair archive, série E. Levant 1918-1940. Arménie 4,1919(folios 41-42)

Ihsan was later part of the Turkish republic anti-Armenian propaganda and rewritting of history... I could refer to many of the mistakes from the work, but I won't, since that would be considering that buchter more than it worth.

Nasty,

I think people here are right about you. Talking with you is a waste of time, because you have a one track mind. Plus, it's getting increasingly tiresome to try to decipher your broken English.

You can't even focus on the topic that you started here, nor can you focus enough to answer any questions posed to you. First you start talking about ASALA, then you bring up McCarthy to somehow prove there was no Genocide, and now you've migrated to the topic of Karabagh, which has nothing to do with either of the aforementioned. You migrate from topic to topic, because you have no justifiable responses to any of the questions that we have raised. To disprove the Genocide, you bring up Karabagh. What does one have to do with the other? And not only that, but you just totally made facts up regarding Karabagh, namely that Azeris lived there for an ASTOUNDING 4000 years! Apparently, the Azeris were around during the age of Gilgamesh! Noah himself must have been an Azeri! According to Nasty, it wasn't Adam and Eve, it was Heydar and Eve. Nice going Nasty. Please, who here can take you seriously with funny facts like that!

Actually Phantom, this is even not an exageration of their claims... I came accross a work 2 years ago, claiming that Noe was an Azeris, and that thousands of years Back, Allah gave the Azeris the first alphabet known to mindkind, as well as Allah language is Turkic. :D
