Nothing Ed. After that you have installed the program, and entered the Hyeforum team number... the software will run on the background everytime your computer run.

So the computer doesn't need to be on all the time for the program to be effective?

If so, would I be helpful if I installed it but my computer was on for maybe 1 to 2 hours maximum a day?

Domino, I have no idea what is this all about. If I would have the slightest idea I may consider joining. The only thing I know is that this has something to do with laundry. Apart from that this is all Chinese for me. I mean WU, Seti, folding ... I don't know what you guys are talking about.

Armen,

It's very simple, if you've done laundry before! All you need to know is the following (listen carefully)

WU stands for Washing Unit

Seti is an abbreviation for Settings i.e. color, wash cycle, etc.

Folding is what you've always done with your cloths AFTER the dryer, NOT after the Washer Unit! You'll have to remember that, that is the only tricky part!

As you see, it's very simple! You don't even have to separate color from whites and delicates!

Once it is done, you'll feel better about yourself: like new and clean!

PS. If you don't know how to be productive, at least, give your computer that chance! Thanks!

Siamanto, I think somehow Domino would explain me the whole thing more productively. Why do you care to reply to messages that are in no way adressed to you. My "laundry" joke was in line with the whole thread. If you're begging to be pissed off believe me it is easy to do but I don't have the mood.

Armen,

I find you a bit tense! I thought you were a bit more playful! Relax!

Yes, I am tense today. And I am sorry as well. I spend to much time in front of this PC I guess. Actually, if you could expian what is that piece of software doing I would much appreciate. I am totaly cluless on this.

Armen,

The short answer would be:

Who cares what the program does, it's about the Armenian Team! That's my perspective on it! I don't care much about folding. I don't even have time to fold my laundry! :)

The not so long answer would be:

1- Proteins are sequences of amino acids that are structured in a certain manner. Basically determined by the genes or to be more specific, because of chemical affinities. No need to for BioChemical details. In other words, proteins are composed of a bunch of elements - amino acids - organized according to a structure.

2- Folding is process of organizing the elements according to a structure

(See http://folding.stanford.edu/science.html)

3- Considering the length of the sequence and the combinatorial complexity i.e. high number of possible combinations, simulating the folding of a protein necessitates a lot of computing power

4- Universities CANNOT afford super computers that cost several millions of dollars, but can achieve the same with distributed computing that simulates/functions as a VIRTUAL SUPER COMPUTER.

Is that enough?

I shut down sometimes at night - but my machine is pretty stripped down. I don't have many apps that run in background. Basic firewall, virus scan, VNC, but that's about it. It runs pretty fast these days - Azat my machine is similar in profile, although I have less Ram and a slighly slower processor.

Um. I didn't realise this is a contest. :(
