shiner
Did you guys hear about that school in Russian taken hostage by Chechen terrorists? They say there are 400 people in there, over 200 of them children. What I want to know is who is really behind this and all the hype? Putin? Bush? The oligarchs? The oil companies? Washington? The Kremlin? It can't be a bunch of idiot Muslim fanatics, because Islam is a "peaceful" religion.
Accelerated
Lets just hope it doesnt end in the same way as the NordOst theatre or the hospital that was taken some years ago.....for all we know there could be Armenians inside also

Four years after they had gained independence Chechnya was nothing more than a criminal state and then some of them decided to attack neighbouring Dagestan....As far as I am concerned the region would have been far more unstable with Chechnya being allowed to exist the way it was. Russia did us a favour, meanwhile the rebels are being armed by the US backed Saudis in a sort of mini-Afghanistan... gamavor
Russia once pulled out of Chechnia and we all know what happened. Who is behind? Ruslan Hasbulatov and alike, including some foreign "moral" support. Chechens have unofficial bases in Turkey. Washington knows that but does nothing. If you read the press release from the White House you can figure out the feelings of this Administration about "terrorism". The press release says, "No cause justifies the terrorist’s acts". Hard to disagree, don't you think?
Accelerated
Yes, Hyelur reported today that there are three Armenian kids. One is a first-grader. Those mo-fos! - I swear, they deserve all the shit Russia gives em. As for Turkey, they are doing a nice job of sucking-up at the moment. Armen
Seems like there is a coordinated attack going on. In the last 10 days: 2 plane crashes: 80 people dead (2 suicide bombers) explosion on a bus stop: 5 people dead (suicide bomber) explosion near metro station: 15 dead (suicide bomber) And now the school hosdages. The news said yesterday that there are over 1000 people in the school not 400 as reported earlier. Surely the attack is agaist Putin and his general policy of Russia's strengthening. Hard to disagree, don't you think? style_images/master/snapback.png Who and what the hell is a Chechen? This is not a rhetorical question as I don't know. It seems like Russia is paying back for all her sins, when in 1917 they had the chance to cleanse the Cuacasus and the Transcaucasus of all those pests, they instead retreated with their tails tucked between their hindlegs to participate in a revolution that some people who did not have Russia's welfare in mind had fomented a "revolution". And in the process they left us at the mercy of the grand-uncles of the Chechens. The hell with them all! Russia should incinerate that region and declare to the world the end of all Chechen, Turk or whatever the hell name they are known by. Were Marx, Engels, Lenin and Beria ethnic Russians? Or were they intent to destroy any and all gentile cultures?

Armen
The hostages were mostly Osetians and the terrorists were mostly Chechens, Arabs and some Ingushes. If there were children among dead Osetians will surely want a revenge. And central government can do nothing about it. This is a situation that can bring to a big war in Caucasus. Stormig
Chechens are an indigenous population in the Caucasus, just like the Daghestanis, Kabardino-Malkars, etc., and Russians had no business in the Caucasus - they should have looked elsewhere for resorts on the sea! Armen
Stormig, do not fool yourself. Chechens and Cherkess were among the first in Turkish Hamidieh groups. Bassaev fought agaist Armenians in Karabagh in Fizouli in 1993.
Armen
How about Abkhazians and Ossetians that Georgians do not want to give independence to. They are supported by Russia.
Stormig
I said they are indigenous. I didn't mention Karabagh or the willingness of these people to fight for revenge for what was done to them back at home. If you care to, why not mention decades-long wars because the Russians just felt they deserved, for some bizarre reason as they would the Indian Ocean, the Caucasus. Armen
Stormy, all empires conquered other people. The difference is that you still have Chechens in Russia but you do not have Apaches or Iroquoies in U.S. The conquest happened about the same time. The only people deported from Caucasus that has lost their land are the Cherkess (deported by Stalin - a Georgian).
Stormig
So that's your measure, Armen? Well, the Ubykh are extinct, and Abkhazians are a minority in Abkhazia. I suppose Armenians should be grateful that there are 60,000 Armenians in Istanbul, all empires are like that...
Nakharar
The Russians are here to stay. All these Caucasian peoples, except the Big Three (Armenians, Azeris and Georgians) are doomed to perish. Maybe the UNESCO should place them under the endangered peoples list. Stormig
BTW, Armen, you're giving Stalin too much credit. Ever wonder why all along the coast of the Black Sea there are more Russians than anyone else? It's because this strip was ethnically cleansed before Bolsheviks were heard of.
Nakharar
I'm not sure but one of the reasons Stalin shipped the Chechens off to Siberia had to do with oil pipelines running through Chechnya. That's probably why they are cleansing the region of its indigenous population today.
