Ancestors of Turks came to Anatolia around 2000 BCE

According to associated Prof. Semih Guneri, various archeological and cultural findings prove that Turks had come to Anatolia around 2000s BCE. Prof. Guneri and his team recently unearthed artifacts in excavations in Turkey's eastern provinces of Erzurum and Hakkari. According to experts, steles discovered by Associated Prof. Veli Sevin in Hakkari will shed light on the question of 'When did Turks first come to Anatolia?'. Experts started to discuss this matter when a statue head which was sculpted around 2000 BCE was unearthed in Bulamac Tumulus in Pasinler town of Erzurum under a project to reveal Turkish Culture's Archeological Resources in Central Asia (OTAK).

Associated Prof. Semih Guneri, the chairman of the Eurasia Archeological Studies Association, said that OTAK project had been conducted together with scientists from Mongolia and Russian Federation and under the project, they focused on some motifs engraved on Hakkari steles and they compared them with motifs found in Eurasia.

''Some details on steles are compared with the motifs in compositions on obelisks and rock paintings belonged to Turks and Pro-Turks in whole Eurasia,'' he said. ''Especially the motif of 'a pot in hand' is seen on statues belonged to Gokturk era. Also the scientists from the Russian Academy of Sciences St. Petersburg Material Culture History Institute, found it interesting that some details on the Hakkari steles are very similar to the Turkish art style. Besides, our Russian partners say that they have not seen such steles before with such details. We will soon release the results of our project which we initiated in February,'' he said.

Guneri stressed that the figure which shows warriors ''holding pots'' engraved on the Hakkari steles, was a very common figure during the Gokturk era. ''As our Russian counterparts agree that weapon models definitely point to 2000 BCE. Holding pots was about the 'milk thrower', a Shamanistic tradition that dates back to 3000 BCE, particularly among Turks in the Altay region. Peculiarities of weapons on the Hakkari steles and the motif of 'holding pots' on same steles are the cultural elements which connect the Bronze Age to the Gokturks,'' he said. ''Besides, details on the statue head belonged to the Bronze Age, which was unearthed in the Bulamac Tumulus reflect the characteristics of the Gokturk era. These findings prove that Turks were in Anatolia in 2000s BCE''

This of course is BIG B/S! NONE of the Greek, Assyrian, Armenian or Roman historians ever mentions anything even remotely close to turks. NONE, NADA, NOTHING!

I will continue with the subject of Armenia in the Ancient world like Strabo, Herodotus, Plutarch, Petroni, etc.

Just watch my Knight! :)

It has taken them over 3 years to dream up that crap about the Hakkari "stele"! After their discovery they were hidden away in the Van museum. Even photographing them was forbidden because the Turks didn't want anyone to know about them in case they became known as Kurdish artifacts, or, worse still, Armenian.

I don't have any photos unfortunately - but I might be able to get hold of some. One of them shows what looks like a kumbet-type of building, i.e. they might only be 12th century AD, or even more recent.

Don't know anything about the "statue head" - but I wonder if it might possibly be the surviving fragment of King Gagik's statue. I had heard that some Turkish so-called "professors" had tried to make out that it was actually Assyrian. Just how they managed to account for the rod of 20th century Russian iron set into its surface (placed during Marr's reconstruction) escapes me.

Turks have always been destorting the truth about their bloody history, now this fake assumption about their past what a bullshit to get credit for everything Armenians and Greek did after slaughtering them....they should know that they were the most barbaric in the history and still they are, despite their wearing tie and suits sometimes, and they have contributed to the mankind nothing other than destruction bloodshed and misery...so sleep on this truth Gunery, in the morning ,when you wake upyou will have a second thought about your fake history...!!!

Turks came to Anatolia in the 1400s...

No, they first settled there in second half of the 11th century. And they made raids there in the middle of the 11th century, (or perhaps a decade or two earlier, depending on who exactly king Senekerim was so scared of that he ceded his kingdom to the Greeks to escape from - but that was Armenia, not Anatolia).

Are we talking about the Seljuk Turks?

Bactrians are TURKS???

Mongols came in the 11th century???

Turks came in the 14th century???

And your the 'one' to ridicule my take on Armenian History???

Looking back at some of the outlandish remarks you have made regarding Armenian culture and history within this forum (and another forum), I can safely conclude that you: are either a bored teenager just looking to argue with someone, or a Turk - trying to be cute. If the former, instead of arguing with posters here, just observe and learn from them.

Yes, them and a lot of other minor dynasties. The Seljuk Turks actually had little interest in Armenia (once they had passed through it) and ended up ruling the formerly Byzantine lands in central anatolia. It was the minor Turkish dynasties that caused all the problems for Armenia.

What other forum? Dude, I am Armenian, more Armenian than you. I want Armenia to be greater, I really do not give a phuck if people accept the whole concept of Armenian history. The Genocide? Phuck the Genocide, we got butchered like sheep and we need to concentrate on making us stronger, however you continue to concentrate on making it known throughout the world.

Armenians are small and insignificant to this world, it is my job to change that...

Unlike you, I accept the truth.

Nationalist mythologizing has no place in any serious academia. Anyone who accepts this bunk doesn't need to be bothered with as they have displayed their ignorance that is impenetrable by any known use of human reason.

The Seljuk Han in Anatolia

I am a Turk who's been living in LA for 35 years, was married with Armenian, recently moved to Turkey and visited Armenia with my Armenian friends, a few weeks ago...I also made many new friends in Yerevan and Karabagh...I must tell you; I am amazed about the ignorance displayed by so many Armenians (mostly Diaspora) about their own history and the tragic events of late 1800's and 1915...I am still trying to find the truth and keep my mind open to a real scientific proof of each side's version of historical facts about as to why so many Armenians has been killed and suffered so much and why so many Ottoman moslems has parished as well. This question can not be answered by anecdotes. No doubt Ottomans has made a tragic mistake in joining Germany in this war and opened the possibilities for Armenians to be used by Russians and the other European powers against Ottomans while both people were living in harmony for centuries despite the ethnic and the religious differences. Loyal Armenian subjects' (as described in Ottoman times)nationalistic feelings and Dashnaks, first cooperation with Otoman revolutionaries to assasinate the Ottoman sultan, then subjugating themselves to Russians and revolting against the Ottomans, are sad state of affairs in those times.

The fact remains that for every story told, for every picture published by Armenians there are responding stories and pictures of atrocities in Ottoman, Russian and various Europen nations archives...Either there should be a scientific research done by totaly objective parties and whatever the truth is we should accept and deal with its consequences or simply move ahead to ensure the well being of both nations and peoples. Armenia needs Turkey and Turkey as well would benefit greatly by normalizing the realtionship...Incidently these are the opinions of Armenians in Armenia (and in Turkey as well as many in Los Angeles)-in the government, in the business as well as the "common people",... not only mine. Actually the goods in Yerevan mostly Turkish, there are regularly scheduled flights between Istanbul-Yereven-Antalya...

I Just wanted to point out some of the facts and thoughts with the hope that someday soon we should resolve this matter and again start living in harmony together. Afterall, as people, we have so much in common and so much to gain from.

What kind of Armenian?

I must tell you; I am amazed about the ignorance displayed by so many Armenians (mostly Diaspora) about their own history and the tragic events of late 1800's and 1915...

Armenians are the ignorant ones?? Bwuahaha!

I am still trying to find the truth and keep my mind open to a real scientific proof of each side's version of historical facts about as to why so many Armenians has been killed and suffered so much and why so many Ottoman moslems has parished as well.

The only thing that Turks are interested in, is whatever excuses them.

This question can not be answered by anecdotes.

Then don't.

No doubt Ottomans has made a tragic mistake in joining Germany in this war and opened the possibilities for Armenians to be used by Russians and the other European powers against Ottomans while both people were living in harmony for centuries despite the ethnic and the religious differences.

This living in harmony is pure crap propagated only by the Turkish side. Go tell that to the other Christians that were under the Ottoman yoke like the Balkan nations, and Syrian and Lebanese Christians. Harmony it never was. It was relative peace! Relative to what was happenning from the late 1800s to 1923.

A real shame it was that there were loyal Armenian subjects. It was the loyal ones who were the first to get their heads put on a steak. At least the fighters who fell, fell like soldiers and men not in such defensless and humilating ways as in the slave-labor batalions, and rotting in the desert.

Either there should be a scientific research done by totaly objective parties and whatever the truth is we should accept and deal with its consequences or simply move ahead to ensure the well being of both nations and peoples.

Turks have ignored every conclusion that concludes that the killings and uprootings were organised and systemic with a very deliberate plan. Countless archives show this -- American, Russian, French, Italian, German, and British. The only 'objective' result that the Turks are willing to accept is "Armenians started it, and it was civil war and a trategy for both sides, and many Turks died too, more than the Armenians"

What about the Pontic Greeks and Assyrians may I ask?

Armenia needs Turkey

Don't flatter yourself. I'd rather Armenia nurture the relationship with Iran, especially given the fact that the Iranian people hold Armenians in very high esteem.

while both people were living in harmony for centuries despite the ethnic and the religious differences.

This must be the joke of the year! Hey, Turkish moron, have you ever heard of the 'blood' tax. Do you know that Armenians were called 'infidels' in your "harmonic' Ottoman Empire. Do you know that Christians were banned from possesing weapons, being elected in the Government, right to vote, etc.. Do you know that because of this harmony, Armenians were subjected to more than 40 different types of taxation, while Moslems were excluded from most of them.

I can give you more than 20 more examples of gross mistreatment of the Armenians in the Ottoman empire if you wish so. So, stop lying and tell your goverrnment to recognize the Genocide, not the tragedy. Tragedy is when your son dies in an automobile accident. Crime is when your ancestors killed my ancestors, because of their religion and will to live as independant from barbarians state.

Capish,?
