Armen
Hey guys cheer up. We've still got the freestylers. And President Kocharian is in Athens as well. He may well win a gold medal for promotion of democratic reforms and civil liberties

Sasun
I am ashamed too, lately I have been thinking of quitting my profession and becoming an athlete to go to the olimpics. Maybe I can get a bronze once in a blue moon... at least I can shave. Edited August 26, 2004 by Sasun
Twilight Bark
There was a Polish wrestler (lost to the American), who looked rather Armenian, including the facial hair etc. He had a Polish sounding name though (I forget now). Must have been one of those assimilated ones, with certain "traditions" nevertheless intact.
Guest DoJudo
Armen, vercheres haigagan terty mech desa Hay khoumpi negarnere. Pandargial kermanatzii desk unein. Yete ais yen Hay atletnere mortzir medali masin. PS: Kone gurnain sapruvil Genetics my friend. It is a smart thing to have a facial hair when your wrestling, since there is a lot of contact to the face and you don't want that to bother you, on the contrary you want your facial hair to annoy your opponent. Looking ugly is good in fighting sports. Shaved head, facial hair, coliflower ears, and a broken nose. Oh yeah, bones heal and chicks dig scars. P.S: I got my hopes up for the freestyle too. Plus our Armen Nazaryan (though not from Armenia) he'll win tomorrow.
Armen
DoJudo, that way we already have: Silver - Ara Abrahamian - Sweden Bronze - Artiom Koureghian - Greece Bronze - Mkhitar Manukian - Kazakhstan Also, watch for Samourgashev (Russian). He is the favourite in his category. And all these guys, including Nazarian (except for Samourgashev/he is from Rostov in Russia) left Armenia sometime after 1997. Regarding the shaving thing. They could at least shave for the photo. In general the image of delegation was aweful. How "olympic" does a guys with a huge belly look during the opening ceremony. Sasun
Did anyone see Ashot Danielyan last night? What a shame... this guy tried to lift three times and none was successful... wouldn't it be better that he never showed up on the podium and embarass all Armenians ? He was also disqualified in Sydney and stripped of bronze. Edited August 26, 2004 by Sasun
-=VAHE=-
I really had high hopes for Sergo Chakhoyan or whatever the last name was. Same thing happened for him, Couldn't lift one after three tries.

-=VAHE=-
Yea I think he was the only lifter from Australia and for some reason they showed him only once. Damn NBC. Showing clips of the competition.
Sasun
I was very impressed at the Iranian weighlifter Riza Zadeh who won gold. This guy was amazing - strong, cheerful, devout, humble. Everytime he would say a profet's name and lift and smile. No wonder he is so popular in Iran.
-=VAHE=-
Is there any more competitions for Armenians for Armenia to win anything or are all medal hopes gone.? Do we have any freestyle wrestlers?

Armen
Well, well. We're done. This was the worst olympic games Armenia has ever had. Either during independence or during USSR. Georgia, which has been going through a terrible political crisis has 2 gold and 2 bronze. Azerbaijan has 1 gold 4 bronze as of today.
