Armat
I am skeptical if this particular athlete has been steroid free. One of the side effects of steroid use is abnormal growth of the jawbone specially the chin. This guy’s chin is much larger then other features. One can use steroids repeatedly during training and only stop its use prior of competition hence pass the tests.. Abuse of Anabolic steroids in Swimming Irrespective of the humiliation meted out to those athletes found to be using banned anabolic steroids many professional and college swimmers continue to use banned anabolic steroids to increase stamina for training, increase body mass for strength and to reduce body fat. The athletes that abuse these substances willing seem to be unaware of the repercussions their actions have on the reputation of their associates and the integrity of the sport. The repercussions also extend to the group, institution or nation that they represent. Even if it is in a sport not connected with the country it still makes that country look bad. Other countries will soon begin to look doubtfully on all of the athletes in that country. Because of this countries have to set up expensive drug testing facilities, just to keep an air of integrity. It cost's the country so much more money to fund these testing facilities, that they cannot support the real athletes, those who want to train to win, those that want to practice to succeed not those who want an easy option of drugs. Positive drug tests by swimmers by country 1. China (44 with two swimmers caught twice) 2. USA (12) 3. Russia/USSR (one swimmer caught twice) (10) 4. Great Britain (8) 5. Spain (7) 6. France (6) 7. Italy, Australia (5) 8. Austria, Greece (one swimmer caught twice) (4) 9. Belgium, Poland, Brazil, South Africa, Syria (3) 10. Canada, Germany, New Zealand, Cyprus, Croatia, Mexico, Ukraine (2) 11. Tunisia, Egypt, Argentina, Indonesia, Finland, Switzerland, Ireland, Lithuania, Slovenia, Ecuador, Slovakia, Latvia, Singapore, Romania, Hungary, Costa Rica, Nederland. Armat
A confession of a Canadian coach(Domino is involved ) It was not until Canadian Ben Johnson tested positive for the anabolic steroid stanozolol after winning the 1988 Seoul Olympic 100 metres final that the magnitude of the problem became apparent to the world at large. A Canadian government inquiry in the following year revealed in chilling detail the extent of drug-taking in the small group run by coach Charlie Francis. Francis, banned for life by his national federation, said he would be failing in his duty as a coach if his charges has not taken drugs. "Athletes are no better or worse than the societies from which they come," he wrote. "Their nations clamour for glory. Their sponsors reward success. They are expected to win and yet remain drug-free -- goals that have become increasingly incompatible over the last 20 years."
Armat
Personally I lost my interest in the games in general. These days winning is everything $$$ national pride etc. Should I care if bunch of drugged doped athletes are doing what naturally they could not? The innocence of the games are permanently lost, commercialized to max and are totally in different ethos then what Olympics are about. Personally I am tired of flag waving fans yelling and screaming as though all it matters is their country’s victory. I hate, hate the medal count game on TV and everywhere. Chill out. Arpa
No Nairi,I lost interest.I rather see Armenian clean athlete not get a medal then one winning it and later disqualified for drug use. Armat, what makes you think that this a whole new phenomenon? The Olympics is a virtual war, a substitute, if you will. During classical times all wars were supposed to stop during the games, and from all evidence they may have except there is at least one incident when war did not stop and the opposing army in full gear continued and walked right into the arena while the spectators thought it to be part of the games until they realized that the blood was real. The games have always been a substitute for war and a political contest as well as athletic. This was not more evident than during the cold war years when the games were played, fought would be a better word, to ascertain supremacy. That is also the time when many, primarily the U.S. raised their voices and waved the "foul flag" complaining that some countries were fielding "professionals", and they won the right to field their own professionals. Since then the games have lost their original and ideal appeal. As to "drugs", what makes you think that it has not been a part of the games? How do we know that the Greeks of yore did not do it?. For one, "doping" has always been practiced. Consider that during those times the games were an exclusive property of the aristocracy, and they did practice doping. They were the only privileged class that had access to rich food while the common people had to subsist on inferior and less nutritious food. That is doping, or the lack of it. Speaking of nutrition, look at the size of the athletes from the so-called industrial counties and compare them to those from the delveloping or underdeveloped ones. DominO123
I think Armat is upset that Armenia hasn't won a medal yet Actually I absolutly agree with Armat, and this has nothing to do with Armenia not having won any medals. An australian specialist affirmed that 70% of athletes(runers etc...) are in some sort of drugs ahancing their performances. The point here is whatever or not the drugs could be detected... many just can't, and there are steroids that can not be detected, one of those we have found just recently and have found a way to detect it, just the molecule in question could have 8 difference combinations, which means that there are still 7 other possible combinations. This would only advantage technologically advanced countries like the US... since in countries like Greece, Armenia, Turkey etc... there are no such drugs, the drugs that those athletes could use are pass dated that can be detected. A proposition has been given of freezing athletes urines for future tests. Not only richer countries have better equipments and that athletes are in better conditions, but they have even access to newer drugs that can not be detected. And yes! Michael Phelps physiology looks like someone being on steroids, and I even disagree with Armat, when he claims that he was first on it and stoped it so it could be undetectable, I believe that he still is on some form of drugs. There is the Australian champion that I don't need to name that has the same characteristics as someone having been on drugs. As for the runers, it is obvious that the majority of them are on some form of drug ahancers... there is no way that records are being broken, when we discover that those that have broken the records were on drugs... how can someone not being on any kind of drug brake records of a druged one, and then after another braking the record of this alleged drogless individual etc... It is very suspicious to me.
Sip
I believe drugs and sports have gone hand in hand since there have been competitive sports. I don't believe for a second that the ancient olympians were "clean" ... what does that even mean anyway? At the very least, they had special diets that made them very different from regular people. It may be that now, through scientific techniques the methods have become far more complex and powerful ... but the essense of the techniques to gain every possible advantage is not something new I don't think. nairi
I was joking Armat I don't know, sport still doesn't turn me off, because I know that some of the best need more than just drugs to perform. E.g. figure skaters or gymnasts. A lot of is more mental and/or technical than physical in the sense of strength.
Armat
I agree ancient Greeks were doped too but on sheep's testicles! no joke,I read it boosts testastrone. Armat
I agree with Domino point that industial countries can and are devoloping new drugs and using them and poor counties are well coming last in games.Crap here we go again back to capitalism verses no capital. I felt sorry for the afghan runner yesterday coming second to last in track and field.Poor girl and physically she looked small too.I was rooting for her. In America they call those Rocky Mountaion Oysters. You may find many sites. Here is one; Edit. I corrupted the link. It brings to many popups. One may search using Rocky Mountain Oyster or any part of it. Exception. Testosterone is not absorbed from the GI tract. It is destroyed, it should either be injected or absorbed through the buccal vavity. The rason why there are patches now which in a way is a form of injection, through the skin, bypassing the gut In the meantime, this is the first I hear about donbalaan. Here is a link of many. http://www.ee.surrey.ac.uk/Personal/F.Mokh...s/donbalan.html It must be a Persian specialty. Armat
Thanks Arpa This one just floored me Penis Stew 1 pound of penis, ram's or bull's 3 tbls. oil 1 large chopped onion 2 garlic cloves, peeled and chopped 1 tsp coriander seeds, crushed 1 tsp salt freshly ground black pepper Scald the penis, then drain and clean (doesn't say how you clean a penis. Not sure a guy would know since this penis is, well . . . never mind). Place the penis in a saucepan, cover with cold water, and bring to a boil. Remove any scum, then simmer for 10 minutes. The rason why there are patches now which in a way is a form of injection, through the skin, bypassing the gut It is true that most of the testosterone is destroyed before being absorbed by the GI tract(acidity etc...) but if regularly consumed, it does increase the level of testosterone. The ancient Greek athletes were doing just that. When they try to detect testosterone in the blood, they do much like hemoglobine, they have a "hight" maximum allowed, when you have it higher they conclude you have been on drug. There are as well some testosterone variants that can be detected right away without a measurement... it is the same kind of logic they use to differenciate B12 forms in the blood, to know the proportion of methyl-cobalamine, they measure the excretion of methyl in the urine, and calculate the methyl form from it. Arpa
Thanks Arpa This one just floored me Penis Stew 1 pound of penis, ram's or bull's Yes I saw that Ridiculous! It reminded me of the time I saw this very disturbing and to me, very sad report. It may have been on Discovery. They showed a restaurant in (I think) Japan where hundreds of business types, ceo's and other seemingly highly sophisticated men had gathered around tables with bowls and spoons ready waiting for the specialty of the evning, "tiger penis stew". It is supposed to be an aphrodisiac. As if those people need more aphrodisiacs. You do the math. One tiger penis boiled to the point of disintegration, and divide among 100 men. How much whatever that aphrodisiac was there to begin with? Poor tiger, killed for just that!! Is it not an endangered species?
