Guest DoJudo
I was standing in front of a store at the Santa Monica Promenade, when a black guy with blond hair approached me and asked with an English accent, "What kind of music do you like?". Thinking this guy wants some money to sing a 50-cent song or something, I said "Armenian"; just to get rid of him, since I thought there would be little chance this guy would know any Armenian songs. To my surprise he started reciting a poem right there about the Armenian Genocide. He told me how he recently got in contact with Serj from System of a Down and he read a book, "The Oral History of the Armenian Genocide",(I think by Hovannesian, I haven't read it). Further he told me that he was to perform at a concert in Hollywood with Axis of Justice, and Serj was going to play the piano as he recited the poem. Though I didn't believe him about the concert at the moment, and his talent for poetry was not very so appealing to me, I loved his effort and it drew attention from the people around. I gave him the few dollars cash I had on me for tip. Later I went to the Concert on July 17th and found him reciting the poetry with Serj playing the background piano. Serj gave an awesome performance that night. Brad Wilk and Tom Morello were good also. Is SOAD the most awesome band ever or what? Serj again did a solo piano act for a song about the Genocide, not that many Armenians turned out for the event though.
Vigil
You are talking about the "Word Smith" and if you would like I bought his CDs because it seemed like he had talent, which means I had them signed so if you want them I can sell them to you for an insanely large amount of money? I am waiting till he goes platinum so I can put them on Ebay. On a side note the "Word Smith" told me about the poetry recital. Anyways, welcome to Hyeforum and I hope you enjoy your stay.
