Argh I have the exact same thing! What a pain in the vorik, I can't figure out how to get rid of it either.

What is exactly the problem with the removal of shopnav? Do you have norton? Did you try this? (removal instructions)

Just doing steps 2,3,4, and 6 should take care of it. But of course doing steps 1 and 5 are also not a bad idea.

I'd consider slow scrambling of my document data and sending my financial information such as credit card and bank account into as well as login names and passwords to crooks mallicious. I really don't give a monkey's behind if they count how many times I have visited donkeylove.com :D

Of course I'll try my best to stop them just based on principle ... but considering how many spyware have shown up recently, I'd say the really mallicious ones are VERY very rare. Even the "viruses" don't usually do much damage other than slowing down or just pestering and being annoying. At least they don't do irreversible damage.

A major exception are those used in DDoS attacks that shut down entire websites.

I guess here we disagree:

Would you care if someone monitored your personal movements in your neighbourhood? How about those of your family? Would you like it if someone (unbeknownst to you) was tracking who you call, when, and for how long? How about your emails? What if someone was reading everything you write? Why would anyone need this information? And what would it be used for? Just marketing? hmmmmm....

This is about more than market research. There are *many* decent and respectable ways to acquire Market research. Spies, and spyware is neither decent, nor respectable.

Just my two cents.

I agree with Vava. Sip, even if you don't care they count how many times you visited etc... just consider that those people install something in your computer without your consent. What right do they have to install something in your computer? It is your property, your HD space is yours. My computer is privatly owned by me, I payed for my HD, it is mine, every single byte of space in it are mine. No one has any right to install anything in it without my consent, it is intrusive and should be illegal. Edited by Fadix

Considering the slow down and nuesance of the computer with spyware, I would rather prefer not have all those hidden programs. But I don't mind at all sharing much of my private activities on the computer. All the spyware companies have to do is ask, I will gladly provide that information with a neat email. But I don't want them to cause neusance more than that.

Thanks guys!

I have been silently suffering of the ailment as well.

It seems I finally got rid of most.

I can't even say which program actually solved it but, thanks again.

I could not help but laugh as the most ridiculous irony is that most annoying pop-ups were the pop-ups that offered to stop-pop-ups. Duhh!

:jester: :jester:
