Harut, maybe it's strage for an Armenian's ear but it sounds more listenable to foriegners. Besides I think Kochari rythm section with bass guitar and drums sounds very convincing (actually the drummer is a Russian ). Many renowned groups have used ethnic music to make rock, Led Zeppelin for example. Singing it in Armenian makes it authentic, real. Anyway, this is just my fealing. We cannot preserve and conserve our culture at this time of globalization and integration. We have to share it with the world. If we don't, Turks will present our music and culture to the world as theirs as they always do. So we better present it ourselves. We can do it with more taste, authenticity etc. Look how respectfully Turkey treats Jivan Gasparian. They do this because they want the world to gradually recognize Jivan through Turkey. Having said that, I am for all kinds of experiments on Armenian folk music as long as we can communicate it to the world in understandable "language". That should be the case not only when it comes to music but for many other things too. I think Armenians from Armenia are much more progressive (younger generation) than the Diaspora in general. I only wish to see the same in the ecnonomical sphere too. Diasporans except some in Europe, Argentina and few in Lebanon are ... This is according to my observations. This is according to my observations. lol What? 99.99% of the Diasporan ... hail from Lebanon, although you can make the case that they're not even diasporans since they identify themslves as Lebanese anyway.
