I have 4 guns at my house. and I also have 3 BB guns as you call it. TYhey are actually high velocity pellet guns.. The smallest one is a hand gun pellet shooter. In the opinion of those who are so against guns.. Am i now a bad guy that i own a gun, or worse i own 7 of them? I dont think i will ever kill anyone with my weapons, and even though we have 2 toddlers in our home, my guns are in a safe place. I am very responsible with them.

So im saying, we cant have a world withouth guns, nor can we comprehend a world where EVERYONE has guns... The current 3 week backround check for purchasing a firearm is not enough, i will definetley agree to that. Because statistics wise, there are to many deaths by legally purchased weapons, not as much as illegal ones.. but still.

Domino, What exactly are the statistics of firearm deaths here in America Vs. Canada. The statistics are actually not in favor of gun control.. because in Canada there are waaay more people who have many more guns than the people hre in america.. well atleast the ones that America can account for... Yet Canada has no more than 2 or 3 gun related deaths per year, and that number for America is rediculously high.. im not sure, but its few hundred thousand...

If you guys have seen "Bowling for columbine" it has all the stats...

But, explain to me whats bad about me having the weapons i have. I am not psycoligically retarded to feel a sense of control and powere when i use these weapons. I use them for pleasure, and hunting if necessary. OK.. ill be looking forward to your explanation of why having guns is a bad thing, given that whoever we are talking about (the average person) is sane, and resonsible with it..

And those pictures give me the creeps; I can’t believe you have a gun.

Threads like this are good because they are a way of distinguishing the sane and civilised amongst us from the crazies and wanabe crazies. I'm happy Anileve's in the sane crowd. :)

One thing I've noticed about guns is how ugly they look, especially the ones that are made to be special or customised. It seems the badness of their owners extends to them having bad taste as well. See - that's the way to fight "gun culture" creeps, don't ban gun ownership, just make the owners look pathetic (in their hearts they know they are pathetic anyway).

Not hundreds of thousands, tens maybe. Hundreds of thousands is probably deaths on roads - so lets ban cars (I'm serious). And deaths due to drug misuse, a few thousand maybe?

What's-his-name that made "Bowling for Columbine" made it to fit his own agenda, which was gun control. (Well, actually the agenda might have been just to attack Charleton Heston and gun control was the way he chose to do it). So the gun ownership in Canada bit wasn't really explored in detail. When the facts began to go down the route that seemed to show that the gun problem was actually a problem in the American psyche he got cold feet and chickened out. The film would have been better if he had abandoned his initial agenda and gone where the facts were taking him.

Let me ask you a question Sip. In your opinion, what would be best, a world where there is no gun at all, or a world where everyone has guns?

Domino, I have NEVER held a gun in my hands. Do not own one nor do I ever want to own one...

However, let me ask you a different question, if guns are so bad, why is crime and murder rates SO much lower in Switzerland where EVERY family by law has to own a gun?

You are making that up.

There was in 2000, about 7 million firearms in Canada(Canadian total population is 30 million), most of them for hunting and not handguns(there is only about a million handgun). In the US, some estimates even advance a number higher than the total US population, for the number of arms owned in the US.

Wow Sip - a Sig - very nice! I've only shot their rifles - one modded for fully auto of course! But I know the rep of their handguns. BTW my friend accidently blasted the front windshield of his brothers truck with this particualr weapon as he was firing in an arc out the vehical while it was moving along and forgot that the fron t windshield wasn't "open" - lol - ooops!

I can understand why folks have an aborrence towars guns...and there is no doubt that the US gun culture has gotten a bit out of hand and there are also some crazy/overboard gun nuts out there - still I don't think folks can appreciate the enjoyment of firing a gun unless they have done so. And I would really suggest - if you can at all get over your repulsion for such -to at least give it a try - to somewhat understand. And you may find this interesting -i have a good friend who is both very involved in Democratic Party politics and is an NRA lifetime member and activist...a very interesting combination to se - and he actually can make a very strong and reasonable case for being very wary of restrictive gun laws (I don;t fully agree at all - but there are issues concerning individual liberties versus Governemntal intrusion etc that at least bear being cogniznt of)...anyway

My father was an old farmboy from the country. He grew up around guns and felt that it was his duty as a father to teach me how to shoot - I'm glad he did. Its a (potentially) useful skill as well as providing the source of many very special memories of outings with my dad teaching me how to shoot, target shooting, skeet shooring and just blasting at stuff - great fun and a good bonding experience. I have many very special memories of these times with him.

I've know a few gals to shoot as well - and who used time at the range to let off stream - as a stess reducer etc. One of these gals I dated many years ago. She had been a cop and was a DEA agent at the time - a very tough gal - but very nice & fun. Of course she always carried because of her job and such. It felt nice to know that when you were out on LA's mean streets your date could protect you - lol...

So yeah I own a few guns...most with great memories for me - of times with my dad. And in fact I consider 2 of the guns family heirlooms. One - an 1895 Winchester pump action 12 gauge (still in emaculate condition) was given to my Grandfather as a boy and has been passed down to me. Another - an M-1 carbine semi-auto (great gun!) is an exact duplicate of the gun my dad carried in the Army and is essentially the gun I learned to shoot with...

Again I very much understand why people are opposed to guns - for a variety of reasons...but there is another side - and there is a self protection aspect as well - and one that is protected by our (the U.S.) Constitution for good reason - as a disarmed citizenry is a citenzery without recourse against tyranny.

AK's rule! :)

but here is what I would get if I lived in the States:

http://world.guns.ru/assault/hk_g36.jpg

or the carbine version:

http://world.guns.ru/assault/hk_g36c.jpg

Its the HK36. The first one is the standard issue rifle for the German Army and the commando version was used in Matrix Reloaded: remmember one of the albino twins firing from the sunroof - this was the gun. ;)

And this is apparently the next generation US standard issue Army rifle. And its a derivative of the HK36 and is being developed by the same company.
