ANY one of us to judge someone else?? and commit murder? yeah!!! and what happens to the man who fathered the child? nothing!!!! that part of the world needs a serious dose of cognitive behavioral therapy with adjunct psych. medication!!! <_< hmm never know! a good anti-depressant might do the trick! if not! maybe a powerful sedative to calm their high strung a$$es down!! Will this state be in a position to threaten or make claims against Armenia? I am doubting it. Any Kurdish state ever formed will be too busy worrying about Iran, Syria and Turkey to think much even about the name Armenia, and its military would be oriented against these countries and these countries will reciporate as they do not to have the Kurds in their borders thinking of joining their independent friends. A Kurdish state in my opinion would be pretty good geopolitically, not as an ally, but just because it will absorb so much of the attention of Turkey. A Kurdish state would also be good for Greece for the same reason and for Israel as well because it will make the Arab states bordering it go nuts. Stormig Posted March 4, 2004 Report Share Posted March 4, 2004 I was thinking along cultural lines and not geopolitics, but thanks for the very enlightening post anyway indeed, forsooth, we had no idea the situation was so pertinently demanding of preservation of the abovementioned lifestyle. Mind you - the overwhelming feeling I get about Kurdish honour killings as opposed to that practiced by Arabs is that in the latter, a girl can run away to another city and escape that grim fate. I think in the above story, the girl is tracked down. Some newsgroups interested in women's rights and that sort of stuff have also been sending stuff in now and then which suggests that this is the reason that Turkish authorities in women's support groups in the southeast are given new ID's and are moved out of town. Lack of access to this in the city of Batman was what was getting people to wonder a year or so ago why you had this sharp increase in young female suicide in that city (or crap-hole). It takes one person from the area to write and tell you that honour killings come in two options - either they kill you or you kill yourself before they do. Very sad.
