Superstitions?

i was wondering to what extent our forum members believe in superstitions, if not at all.

i myself am very hard to convince when it comes to superstitious things.....

if so, what are some of your superstitions? how do you justify them?

if not, why don't you believe in them? any particular reason?

Hreshtak, did you post this topic knowing that today is Friday the 13th?

It happens everytime the first day of the month falls on a Sunday, if it happens in February it repeats in March except in a leap year as this year 2004 (the Olympic year).

It is also ironic that I have been mulling over this post and contemplating to add one more given to the Armenian saga- Superstition.

Triscadecaphobia, fear of the number 13.

Superstitions A to Z. See if any applies to Armenians.

The Armenian word for superstition is avelordapashtum.

Do I believe in superstition?

I will come to that once I have resolved the mystery of Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy! :) :)

Superstitions are against logic. Hence, I do not believe in them. On that note, I had a grand day, and it's friday the 13th. I was expecting the whole world to go down on my head.....

Iv seen stuff like that in my own life, with my own experiance, so it exists, as much as thy contradict your "logical patterns of arguments" :P LOL.. sorry den jan...

What if they were mere coincidences? Good god no, that could not happen. That's completely anti-religious and anti-spiritual.

Well, since you agree to god, * u used him in your last post* i will tell you..

Coincidences are only when God decides not to reveal himself:::

And if you think such things about religion and it being against superstitions.. then you have absolutley no clue whatsoever of what you are saying..

I dont understand how you can say something like this and think anything else you say is credible???

Hey kid, I suggest that you think twice before trying to sound like a smart*ss. I mark the papers of kids just like you, and believe me, if you're as much of a pretend-smart*ass in real life as you are on this forum, then I suggest you re-evaluate your future at university, because not too many teachers are tolerant of unproven smartness. If you've got the stuff, show it. If not, all you're doing is talk without showing that you know anything, only claiming. I do not mean to be so critical of you and your attempts to try and demean me, but really, kid, you sound like you're a good kid, and if you spend more time meddling in things of manageable scope instead of jumping into a pool without knowing how to swim, that would be for your own good. :) I don't know what I said that ticked you off, but whatever it is, I have no intention of finding out nor do I care. But if you want me to take you seriously (not that I care if you do) and read your posts, I suggest you stop right there and think twice about what you're doing, because you seem to be violating the basic social contract of keeping trash out of this forum.

peace

IS THIS SMART ENOUGH FOR YOU DEN:

You are incredibly smart den jan, i envy you and your social status, and how you grade papers of kids just like me..

I was not being a smartass, you cant explain yourself, i was merely asking how you can say sucha a thing and stay credible.. i cant beleive you.. well, remember this phrase from the other forums...

Mmm, and did I tell you, I'm done with you? Well now I did.  Adios. Au revoir. Ciao! Whichever language you know best..

oh and btw den, dont call me a kid, i dont respect you because you contradict yourself, and cant even see it.. and plus, your only 2 years older than i, go have fun at liverpool university... those kids really do love you

hmmm i scn say im the least superstitious person...or id like to think i am...

but since some people said believing in God may be considered a superstition, im a bit confused...in a way i understand why one would say that, but it sounds weird...i dunno i guess if thats considered a superstition, then since i do believe in God, i guess im superstitious then...

LOL!!! Agent Mulder was even worse than some of the people here who subscribe to the doctrine of "blind faith ergo fact." Well, he was constantly on the search for aliens, and he strongly believed that they existed, and I guess he was being superstitious, just like those who believe in God and refuse to even hear the voice of reason!! What can I say... I thought Catholics were bad, but boy was I wrong!!

I think Agent Mulder would disagree, as would I.

i definitley don't consider myself a very supersticious person although i am somewhat supersticious. the only thing i'm supersticious about is probably the whole black cat walking in front of u thing. other than that.....nope, none 4 me. oh and if believing in God is a superstition, then i am gulty as charged 4 that 1.

P.S. Happy Friday The 13th Everyone
