Karine
Would someone please explane to me, wich lands does the kurds refer as their homeland?Wich lands is considered to be the ancient homeland of armenians? Now...what happened in 1915, before that and after that date? In sweden, the kurds are represented as the most cultural and ancient people in the world. The largest nation without a country.Hearing and reading about their "history" reminds me always of the armenian history...Becase they copied everything. From us. Just like the turks did. And i see no diffrents in these too nations. Both are hypocratic and has taken great advantage of the armenians. The armenians were the first to write kurdish newspapers, etc. But what have they done to deserve the attention and help from the armenian goverment? Not to mention ASALA? /Karine [ June 09, 2001: Message edited by: Karine ]
Guest
Berj I am not saying that I agree with those documents, the reponsibilty lies with their authors, i only brought them under attention. Naira,You allways bring up interesting views Karineeven before the 1915 the lands the kurds lived coincided with that of Armenians in Eastern Anatolia, but more to north the biggest part of the population was Armenian and to the south Kurdish. Before the modern time, the kurds didn't have any nationalistic movements in Eastern Anatolia, their nationalist movement was a reaction to the young turk government, quite similar to that of the Armenians. But as a big portion of the armenians of the Ottoman empire were urban merchants, the armenians were better organized than the kurds, and therefore the kurdish loyalties lie on the tribal and feodal basis, feodal lords very often were proTurkish. The self awarness of Kurds of Turkey , is something recent. Kurdish language is not forbidden in any other country other than Turkey, after the Kuwait war Iraq has lost control over the kurdish region, but that region is victim of factional struggles over power. Did he subscribe to Armenians.com mailing list?If we talk, seriously. Where is this guy, someone, any idea?Vano Siradeguian is the biggest arshole that Armenian history knows. I cannot understand how Petrossian did let him go so far in his policy. Someone once said that Levon Petrossian was his "hostage"? What will happen to this society if a Minister takes President as a "hostage" ... Is there any process on V. Siradeguian!

Karine
The self awareness of the kurds arised with help from the armenians after the genocide. The world didin't recognize the armenians, so why are they so intrested in the kurdish issuie? The genocide has the recent year been recognized in many countries. I personally haven't seen or read anything about it...except through armenian organizations and contacts. I'm not fully aware of what is going on in Turkey today, how hard the tension between kurds and turks are; other minorities. But, there is a history behind todays misery. The kurdish people was *hired*by the turkish goverment to carry out the extermination of the armenians. In exchange they were promised the lands wich the armenins lived in. And they did get it, to some extend,- everything that we left behind...but the lands are still Turkish. How big support do the kurds get, from say ASALA? nairakev
quote:Originally posted by Tornado:Naira , you are generally right. The Kurdish awareness rose only after the Armenian genocide. In fact the Kurdish intellectuals immitatde the Armenian intellectuals. Also many Kurds took the side of the Turks in the murdering. However you shouldn't forget something. The murderes, were either Hamidiye Kurds, these were irregular army created by the Sultan Abdulhamid to terrorize eastern Anatolia, or were from Tashkilati mahsusya, these were criminals in the prisons, who were recruted for murder, in exchange of freedom.. These Hamidye members were from certain tribes. The kurds still say that those tribes and clans who helped the Turks at that time and murdered the Armenians are still supporting the Turkish fascists for murdering the Kurds. The Bulk of the Kurds was not involved in the pro-Turkish activities. In fact many Kurdish families saved the Armenian children, by adopting them so no one could know they are Armenian, some grown up Armenians were also saved by the Kurds. for example some kurdish village chiefs said that they will protect their Armenian peasants against the murderes and rallied agianst the Hamidiye and Tashkilati Mahsusya murderes. The Kurds are getting more attaention, because they are a larger group I think. So the picture here is not that black and white again.Tornado, are you sure that I said something like that. You are refering to something that I have no idea. I don't seem to say anything to what you refer in your reply! Sorry! Check again my messages, if your message is a reply to one of mines.
