Armen Posted January 25, 2004 Report Share Posted January 25, 2004 Sergey Khachatryan Sergey Khachatryan won First Prize in the VIII International Jean Sibelius Competition in December 2000 and, at 15 years old, was the youngest winner in the history of the competition. Highlights from the forthcoming season include a performance of the Tchaikovsky concerto with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and Manfred Honeck in Amsterdam; the Khachaturian concerto in Japan with Tokyo Philharmonic under Vladimir Fedoseyev; the Beethoven concerto with Günter Herbig and the Berlin Symphony Orchestra and the Finnish Radio Symphony with Mikko Franck. Sergey made his recital debut recently at the Wigmore Hall in London and the Chatelet theatre in Paris. In the forthcoming season he will give recitals at the Auditorium du Louvre in Paris; the Tonhalle in Zurich and the Lincoln Center in New York. Next season will see his first performance in Salzburg and a recital tour in Japan. Sergey's debut recital recording was released in October 2002 on the EMI Debut label and in 2003 he will record the Khachaturian and Sibelius concerti for the French label Naive Classique.
