Being Twenty-Something

They call it the "Quarter-life Crisis." It is when you

stop going along with the crowd and start realizing that there are many

things about yourself that you didn't know and may not like.

you start feeling insecure and wonder where you will

be in a year or two, but then get scared because you barely know where you

are now.

You start realizing that people are selfish and that, maybe, those friends

that you thought you were so close to aren't exactly the greatest people

you have ever met, and the people you have lost touch with are some of the

most important ones.

What you don't recognize is that they are realizing that too, and aren't

really cold, catty, mean or insincere, but that they are as confused as u

You look at your job...and it is not even close to what you thought you

would be doing, or maybe you are looking for a job and realizing that you

are going to have to start at the bottom and that scares you.

You miss the comforts of college...of groups, of socializing with the

same people on a constant basis. But then you realize that maybe they

weren't so great after all. You are beginning to understand yourself and

what you want and don't want in life.

Your opinions have gotten stronger. You see what others are doing and

find yourself judging more than usual because suddenly you realize that

you have certain boundaries in your life and are constantly adding things

to your list of what is acceptable and what isn't.

One minute, you are insecure and then the next, secure. You laugh and cry

with the greatest force of your life. You feel alone and scared and

confused. Suddenly, change is the enemy and you try and cling on to the

past with dear life, but soon realize that the past is drifting further and

further away, and there is nothing to do but stay where you are or move

forward.

You get your heart broken and wonder how someone you loved could do such

damage to you. Or you lay in bed and wonder why you can't meet anyone

decent enough that you want to get to know better. Or maybe you love

someone but love someone else too and cannot figure out why you are doing

this because you know that you aren't a bad person.

One night stands and random hook ups start to look cheap.

Getting wasted and acting like an idiot starts to look pathetic.

You go through the same emotions and questions over and over, and talk

with your friends about the same topics because you cannot seem to make a

decision.

You worry about loans, money, the future and making a life for

yourself.....and while winning the race would be great, right now you'd

just like to be a contender!

What you may not realize is that everyone reading this relates to it.

We are in our best of times and our worst of times, trying as hard as we

can to figure this whole thing out.

Send this to your twenty-something friends...maybe it will help someone

feel like they aren't alone in their state of confusion.........

all the struggle we thought was in vain

in all the mistakes,

one life contained

they all finally start to go away

now that we're here its so far away

and i feel like i can face the day i can forgive

and i'm not ashamed to be the person that i am today

Piece of Cake

A daughter is telling her Mother how everything is going wrong, she's

failing algebra, her boyfriend broke up with her and her best friend

is moving away.

Meanwhile, her Mother is baking a cake and asks her daughter if she

would like a snack, and the daughter says, "Absolutely Mom, I love

your cake"

Here, have some cooking oil," her Mother offers. "Yuck" says her

daughter.

"How about a couple raw eggs?"

"Gross, Mom!"

"Would you like some flour then? Or maybe baking soda?

"Mom, those are all yucky!"

To which the mother replies: "Yes, all those things seem bad all by

themselves. But when they are put together in the right way, they make

a wonderfully delicious cake!

God works the same way. Many times we wonder why He would let us go

through such bad and difficult times. But God knows that when He puts

these things all in His order, they always work for good! We just have

to trust Him and, eventually, they will all make something wonderful!

God is crazy about you. He sends you flowers every spring and a

sunrise every morning.

Whenever you want to talk, He'll listen. He can live anywhere in the

universe, and He chose your heart.

I hope your day is a "piece of cake!"

Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we might

as well dance.

I'll be happy when...

We convince ourselves that life will be better after we get married, have a baby, then another. Then we are frustrated that the kids aren't old enough and we'll be more content when they are. After that, we're frustrated that we have teenagers to deal with. We will certainly be happy when they are out of that stage. We tell ourselves that our life will be complete when our spouse gets his or her act together, when we get a nicer car, when we are able to go on a nice vacation or when we retire. The truth is there's no better time to be happy than right now. If not now, when? Your life will always be filled with challenges.

It's best to admit this to yourself and decide to be happy anyway. Happiness is the way. So, treasure every moment that you have and treasure it more because you shared it with someone special, special enough to spend your time with ... and remember that time waits for no one.

So, stop waiting .....

Until your car or home is paid off.

Until you get a new car or home.

Until your kids leave the house.

Until you go back to school.

Until you finish school.

Until you lose 10 lbs.

Until you gain 10 lbs.

Until you get married.

Until you get a divorce.

Until you have kids.

Until you retire.

Until summer..

Until spring.

Until winter.

Until fall.

Until you die.

There is no better time than right now to be happy. Happiness is a journey, not a destination. So work like you don't need money, love like you've never been hurt, and, dance like no one's watching.

"Life is not a journey to the grave, with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, 'WOW! What a ride!'"

To handle yourself, use your head;

To handle others, use your heart.

Anger is only one letter short of danger.

If someone betrays you once, it is his fault;

If he betrays you twice, it is your fault.

Great minds discuss ideas;

Average minds discuss events;

Small minds discuss people.

He, who loses money, loses much;

He, who loses a friend, loses much more;

He, who loses faith, loses all.

Learn from the mistakes of others. You can't live long enough to make them all yourself.

Yesterday is history.

Tomorrow is mystery.

Today is a gift.

To understand our past is to understand ourselves.
