G_Kuro
These are a couple of quotes that I really like, enjoy hye forumers "Trying to grow up is hurting, you know. You make mistakes. You try to learn from them, and when you don't, it hurts even more." Aretha Franklin "A mother is someone who dreams great dreams for you, but then she lets you chase the dreams you have for yourself and loves you just the same." Author Unknown "How Do I Know You Love Me? because you accept me for who I am, because you help me through difficult times, because you laugh with me in the good times, because you share your life, your dreams, your sorrows, your joys, YOUR LOVE!" OH GOSH!!! lol. i can go on.. BUT! Life is great.. i woldnt have it any other way.. we live, we learn.. its a great concept..

Sure it seems hard, but if you're good at it and are willing to work hard, it doesn't seem so hard. Just gotta have the positive attitude. Then again I will probbaly laugh at what I just said when I get to college in the fall hu? lol. eeeeek But YES! Life is great. Just look at my signature. DominO123
gevo, it is rather strange that you ask me if I have studied it as an argument to tell me that I do not know of what I am talking about, while in order to make such a comparaison with other disciplines one must of course have studied those disciplines, which you did not. If you want to claim that what you study is the most difficult "field," one expect that you have actually studied the other fields in order to compare. So your way of comparing is bogus. You can not base the level of difficulty of a field by basing yourself on the number of people that graduated from it. There is many factors that inflience this % that have nothing to do with difficulty. An important part of students change program because they realise that it was not what they believed it was. Another factor would be in what fields the most gifted students will study. There is many many many factors... another example, those students that have 95% in high school will choose fields like health science etc... others that are really nerds in chimistry will choose biochimistry, I dare you to open any third or fourth college organic chimistry book, mollecules permutations, orbitals angles etc... and come back later and make the comparaison. I am not telling you that what you study is not difficult, but what I can tell you is that for sure it isn't the most difficult thing in a university. OK Domino, then lets say this, i agree to your argument here, but i still say.. The % i posted were not from those who change majors, only from the failures at it.. that said, for engineering, there is many chemistry classes as well as physics classes that i have to and am currently taking.. as in, for my major, i have 85% core engineering major classes, apose to most other majors, even BIOCHEM or CHEM or BIOLOGY or even PHYSICS where the perecentage of GE classes are more like 40% or 30% depending.. as apose to the 15 -20% of GE vs core classes i have to ttake.. so.. in the engineering field we have a broad array of aspects we need to cover which includes theory, chemistry, biochem even, and an intensive study in physics.. for the last 25 years the numbers have prooven that engineering is harder than any of the others.. so im not being prejudic here.. what do you suggest that is harder than engineering anyways.. just curious??? DominO123
Gevo, if you are suggesting me that the level of failure is of 88%, sorry I do not buy this. Second, if in the US it is like here in Quebec I can understand why in enginering there is more failures... here after compleating college(here in Quebec college is not University) the enginering schools(there is two major ones) don't have limited places, they will accept pratically everyone having compleated their science program no matter their marks. Someone that apply for physic must really like physic he knows pretty well where he is going, it is the same for chimistry, biochimistry etc... but someone that apply in an enginering field it is not the same. For instance the courses in math you are now learning(limits) here in Quebec we had to learn it before going in University, in any mathematic, physic, etc... field in University, the first year you enter you have to do Calculus courses which supposes that you know integrals, differtials, series, sommations etc... , etc... those are really important for any comming physic, chimistry, mathematic courses... even matrix have to do with chimistry when playing with the permutations in molecules(very practicale for organic molecules) etc... here that may give you an idea of what I am talking about by permutations I was refering too.(which trancend with a matrixial permutation) http://physics.nist.gov/Pubs/Mono115/chap2.02.html And here, you have seen nothing...(this is just an idea of how matrix is applied) as when you start those courses you have to master, directional derivatives, directional intergrals, matrix, gradiants not the sample thing, but the whole notion with the applied differentials etc... If you are now only calculating speed of a chimical reaction, or the reaction product and reactives mass variations with a quadratic equation, in a "typical" 2nd, 3rd biochimistry or chimistry courses they have multiple molecular reactions with variations that supposes that you master the notions of fundamental mathematics. And what about physic? Or fundamental mathematic? I can give many examples or study fields, engeniring is not easy, I never said that, but before making such a statment one has to compare... which you do not do. hyebruin
haha!! this reminds me of a "top ten reasons why i am an engineering major" t-shirt i saw hanging on the engineering wall at ucla as i was passing my way through that hallway!! i could not believe their #1 reason!! it was: "medical school is too easy"....i was like!!! omg!! that was tooooo funny!!! i'd say physics and engineering are the hardest fields! gevo27
thanks Domino for helping me make my point, in my flow chart which lists my future classes, i have a variety of mixture of the hardcore chem and physics classes.. so ofcourse i agree with you physics and chem are intens fields.. but im saying that in addition to the core engineering classes, these are also classes which are required for the degree.. and engineering and medicine at the highest level, are the only professions... ill get you the text for that, i dont wanna make the point of that.. lol.. just give me a day
Accelerated
I wont say Eng is the hardest degree, but it is one of the hardest and most demanding - here it is 4 full time years + mandatory work experience. I am doing a parallel finance/business major with my engineering, and you cant compare the two. I have literally passed business subjects without ANY study - one of which was supposedly the hardest 'Investment Analysis' - I spent 10 hours on this subject in TOTAL: a few hours on the assignment and few more on the mid-semester and did not even study for the final. I was expecting to fail and was actually disgusted to have found out that I passed, I immidiatelly realised this Finance degree is going to be worth sh!t in the real world unless you have a Masters or super high marks. Graduating from Eng is an achievement in my opinion.
Accelerated
...forgot to mention - standard failure rates for most engineering subjects after 1st year are about 30%, but reach up to 70% for some of the harder subjects. For business subjects they keep the rate below 30%, average being prob around 10-15% or so. Eng grad rate is prob about 50% here, but we shouldnt forget that most of the people that drop out usually transfer to less demanding courses like Computer Science - so its not really a 'drop-out' rate. Maral
Abundance Everything you need you already have. You are complete right now, you are a whole, total person, not an apprentice person on the way to someplace else. Your completeness must be understood by you and experienced in your thoughts as your own personal reality. Action Everything is in motion. Everything flows. Everything is vibrating. Approval People who want the most approval get the least and people who need approval the least get the most. Blame All blame is a waste of time. No matter how much fault you find with another, and regardless of how much you blame him, it will not change you. The only thing blame does is to keep the focus off you when you are looking for external reasons to explain your unhappiness or frustration. You may succeed in making another feel guilty about something by blaming him, but you won't succeed in changing whatever it is about you that is making you unhappy. Children Your children will see what you're all about by what you live rather than what you say. Control You cannot always control what goes on outside. But you can always control what goes on inside. Divinity We are Divine enough to ask and we are important enough to receive. Growth I will grow. I will become something new and grand, but no grander than I now am. Just as the sky will be different in a few hours, its present perfection and completeness is not deficient, so am I presently perfect and not deficient because I will be different tomorrow. I will grow and I am not deficient. Ignorance The highest form of ignorance is when you reject something you don't know anything about. Judgment and Judges Real magic in relationships means an absence of judgment of others. Loneliness You cannot be lonely if you like the person you're alone with. Mind If we are to have magical bodies, we must have magical minds. Money When I chased after money, I never had enough. When I got my life on purpose and focused on giving of myself and everything that arrived into my life, then I was prosperous. Perfection Everything is perfect in the universe -- even your desire to improve it. Present Present-moment living, getting in touch with your "now," is at the heart of effective living. When you think about it, there really is no other moment you can live. Now is all there is, and the future is just another present moment to live when it arrives. One thing is certain, you cannot live it until it does appear. Purpose Everything in the universe has a purpose. Indeed, the invisible intelligence that flows through everything in a purposeful fashion is also flowing through you. Resistance Everything you are against weakens you. Everything you are for empowers you. Spirit and Spirituality What I am trying to do is to unmuddle the metaphysical. Thoughts and Thinking There is a big difference between thinking: I'm in a relationship and something's wrong. Therefore something must be wrong with the relationship. and thinking I'm in a relationship and we've got problems. This is evidence that you are different than me.
