Dan
If a government bans it even if a church want to do it, it is against equality. WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT IS ABOUT THE OFFICIAL PAPERS... it is not of the interest of gay couples that their union be called a marriage... it is confusing... on the contrary. it is not confusing at all.. not for me or gay couples. so just cos you're confused, we should be denied the right to get married in church???? i am talking about governments stepping in and banning the blessing of gay marriage by churches that are willing to do so. i am not saying that ALL churches should be forced to bless gay marriages.... whoever the hell wants to should be allowed to is the bottom line. DominO123
you're missing the point.. i am not referring to who has what genitals. i am referring to the fact that interracial marriage was illegal not a long time ago, and even considered highly immoral... now it is not. Does it sound that I am talking about morality here? Have I said gay marriage was immoral? Missing the point? I don't think so, this is an intellectual intitimidation at its best form... you compare apples with oranges, yet you keep supposing I don't understand or miss the point... Is there something writen between two text lines that you are the only one seing? And don't put words in my mouth, I never talked about hetero marriages being threatned... you are a one confused dude that don't even try to under the others point before answering, you keep repeating the same stuff no matter what I write. Dan
no, that doesn't mean that i want to be a woman. i am not saying that because women have their rights, gay people should have their rights too. i FIGHT for my rights, i don't just talk about it and wait for them to give it to me. nothing comes our way easily... look at yourself fighting with me tooth and nail for one word called marriage......... and you're talking about me wanting to be a woman in order to get my rights? hell no... i would fight for it.. gladly, and with pride. gevo27
I'm not even gonna attempt to reply to gevo's post....... I cant believe you Dan.... You are ignoring every arguement i make, and calling this a debate!!! You are insulting people, telling them what to do and you want things to be equal.. oh oh the best part here is you call me a hypocrit, and cant/dont state why...???? Ummm... answer to my """VIEW""" of this debate, you seem to like to argue with those who have a more secular argument than mine, but you completely deny religion...I think you are afraid of religion, because if you are gay (keyword "if") then you know what religion will do to you... It will make you be wrong about everything you have believed in apparantly your whole life... You cant stand hearing about God, and just say theres no profe he exists, but then you cant even prove your own atheistic view of this... I want an answer from you Dan, my first arguement was directed everyone in general, but you are pushing all the ther "targets" away and the scope is zooming on you.... So answer me dont be afraid, God wont strike you down... well probably not... DUD-JAN..... i love this saying angel..  thot wrot:and i don't really give a rats ass per say - in regards to the religiosu aspects WHY NOT? by discussing this issue with religious aspects, we are in no way interferring church and state, and again as armenians, we should.  DAN DAN DAN... aye tsavet tanem, herika asses "open mindedness", ur karas hasnes openmindedness ov ara.... yes eh caram asem vor im shoonis het geesher karam anskatsnem,,yette asses che, yes el kasem do openmind ches... ankap baner es assum ara,,, amota, te vor asem amota kases yes openmindchem... LMAO... dont ignor me man, and then say you are in a debate... lol.... Dan
You cant stand hearing about God, and just say theres no profe he exists, but then you cant even prove your own atheistic view of this... one wouldn't have guessed that i attended an evangelical & anglican based school all my life, eh? .......... Â and for the record, debate is when one chooses to reply to a certain person. by refusing to reply, there is no debate WITH that specific person, not necessarily in general. Â And you can spend the night with whoever you want, be it your relatives or your dog, I don't give a damn, it's your right to do so, as long as there's no abuse going on. Dan
I think you are afraid of religion, because if you are gay (keyword "if") then you know what religion will do to you... It will make you be wrong about everything you have believed in apparantly your whole life... lol, so you're implying that i'm not really gay, by using that "keyword" if? better not waste your time on trying to prove that i'm not gay, cos I can assure you that I am. I refuse to believe in anything that will give me guilt trips, without even proving that I am really wrong. You folks who believe there is a complete distinction between good and evil (and that labelling each person/act as one of the other is possible) just make me shake my head in total disbelief. Â If You are Gay, then i can prove to you your are immoral, contact me on a more personnal level if you really want me to prove what you allready know... no, if you are oh-so-goddamn-sure that you are smart enough to prove something by your unproven "facts", then do so in public. i'm sure all those "evil open-minded people" would be converted into your Armenian spirituality and adherance to our pure roots and traditions. Â "Cultural relativism" has become the downfall of humanity, what makes it worst is everyone trying to be the most open minded,, that leads into its own fallacy's and hypocricies what do you mean by cultural relativism? i am not trying to be open-minded simply to look cool. if you had walked in my shoes or the shoes of any oppressed group, i'm sure you would've gone on a crusade against religion and the justification of intolerance by means of the argument of "tradition" and the very standard argument of God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve, to the extent that it is PATHETIC. Â We should be relative to our religion, and that is Christianity no. culture does not include religion or church. culture is about social practices, not spirituality, and what proves that is the fact that there is more than one Armenian church (in fact, 3) -- particularly one that follows the Vatican.. are you telling me that ALL Armenians must be Armenian Orthodox? Â Jesus is the truth the way and the life, with him you will be saved without him you will suffer in damnation. lol... you're making me laugh... and that proves what? is there any proof that Jesus was the son of God? Do you really believe that Mary got pregnant by God? If so, you must be one blind and brainless sheep... have you ever wondered why a coupla years in Jesus' life have not been documented in the Bible? ... i suppose you only believe what you are told by our "great" and "holier than thou" church. Â That quote is posted in all of our armenian churches, @ armenia and the states... And if you are armenian shame on you that you do not know this phrase and live for it. lol... so it's posted in churches... and that means that it is truth? do you have any proof that the bible was anything more than a book written by human beings, a sort of philosophy, or a moral code for regulating human behaviour by getting people to be in fear of a God that sees everything and would punish them whenever they committed a "bad" (translated: something they [those who wrote the bible] did not like/approve of) act? Â And why should I live for that? If you truly think that all Armenians should live for that sentence, that unbased, unproven piece of BS that has cost our nation millions of lives (with all due respect to all my ancestors who were massacred), you are truly delusional. if you think there is anyone in the world who has ever lived for that one sentence (including priests *cough* pedophilia *cough*), the church has succeeded in blind(fold)ing you... Â You have free will, and the right to chose argument (about these sorts of things anyways) will earn you a first calss ticket to HELL... good. then you and your church's bible-thumping minions can be content for once in their life that their intolerance sent someone to hell -- again being blind to the fact that they have made their own lives hell, destroying themselves in their quest for revenge about something that one man or a group of men came up with when their muse was giving them a free ride ... Â With all this religion in my post im sure you guys are thinking im a "ter-hayr" or something, no I am 19 yrs old,, and go to church regularly, and the more i learn, the more discouraged i am of our lovely Armenian youth... turning into, "aperos" and "rabiz lakotner" and agreeing with the present culture that lol, good boy... your mom must be really proud of you... maybe she's glad she made your life an unliveable hell. at least mine is liveable.. and then they wonder why so many teenagers need shrinks... ahhhhh... no wonder, dude.. no wonder.. so yeah, i'm a lakot.. yeah, i grew up without a dad. i'm assuming you have a mom and a dad, a very Christian family indeed... brilliant. but you should realize that the fact that you are a regular church-goer does not guarantee you a good time in your life, happiness, etc., that i can assure you -- take it from me (someone who has been through one hell of a ride losing the people i cared about most when I most believed in your oh-so-almighty God). If there is indeed a God, i am sure he would love me no matter who i am, regardless of my past, present, choices, nature, and future decisions or actions. And well, if there is no God, then it's the same anyway. I live for myself and for those whom I care about, and had i been a religious person with all i went through, i don't think i would've been here today, and THAT i know for sure. Atheism is the only thing that clears my conscience, and rightly so. if there were a God and you could prove its/his/her existence, i would still refuse to be a "believer", simply because i've been through a lot because of it, and my blind faith in religion led me to places i wouldn't ever want to be again. Â homosexuality was a sin God let take over Gomar for the disrespect the pepople of that nation showed to him for all he had given to them, and DANG staright its wrong, its immoral and straight out Disgusting... look here, kiddo (and i do not say this with any sorta contempt) -- maybe it would be a good investment to learn how to think by yourself, it is a healthy thing to do at least once in a while. Read the Sodom and Gemmorah story again, and try to come up with your own interpretation of it. Â mankind didnt come with the option of female or male, not something you choose, it is what God decides for you... if there is a God, he must've decided that i be who i am. if there is a God, he must have a plan for each and every person.. and if your God is truly there, then i am an example of his plan. Â No religion,, then the next most close to mind "theory" is the Big bang and we are all the outcome of absolute chance... i don't really care about the big bang theory or what have you. i don't really care about where we came from. all i want to do is live my life in peace, except that your bible-thumping friends are the hypocritical stone-throwers whom Jesus himself supposedly condemned... so if you are not a sinner, go ahead and throw the stone. your own bible says so. but i suppose there are double standards for interpreting the bible too... double standards for everything... a double standard world... i wonder if we have a double standard God too.... Get over your doGma, and you will lead a healthier life, especially at 19, you don't need that kinda stuff.. you can still be a believer -- intolerance and spirituality do not come bundled in a package, ya know? gevo27
CULTURAL RELATIVISM""" just to expand on this a little for those who have not studyied or heard of the term...  This is what it gets down to,  1. Either there is a specific order to this world, the laws the rules, the limitations, whate you can/cant do (basically a right or wrong for something and/or anything) 2. Or you are culturally relative and blend in to the culture, and heck whynot start something new of your own.."cultural relativism" relates to the problem of the difference of societies from one city to another, from one nation to another. and again ironically most are based on some beleif system, let it be hindu, christianity budhism, islam etc... So if you were to be born in an islamic culture, then you are thaught that such and such is right, and such and such is wrong... well few hundred miles North you canbe born in a catholic houshold and have most of the times interferring rules, and laws.  basically its saying that all cultures have the right to make there own rules, if that is to be you can ignore your newborn and let it die, such as various societies in Brazil, or you can offer your wife to the guests for one night, like the Exkimos do even to this day.. But i guess it would be narrowminded to say that it is wrong to let the sick children die, not feeding them, not caring for any of there needs... I guess its narrow minded to say that if you offer your wife to your guests thats pure WRONG! and freeckin disgusting and its adultury...  If thats how you define narrowmindedness, then DAMN straight i am narrow minded..  OH OH ,,, and for the record everyone,, i cant read Dans mind,, or anyones mind for that reason... and i wouldnt even think of wanting to be able to.. i have my own problems.. LOL...
Dan
no, actually, i was not gonna ask that. you just assumed, and you are wrong (no, i didn't change my mind now just to make you look wrong)... things like that happen. yeah, i've lost loved ones, and i've asked that question many times, but ive found an answer for it, that things happen, maybe for a reason, maybe at random, and we have to accept them, just like we have to accept the way we are born, our differences and similarities. Â and for the record, i do not answer a question i don't understand. so make it clear for me otherwise i will not answer it.
Dan
you forget that cultural relativism is irrelevant to homosexuality since homosexuality has existed and continues to exist in all cultures, regardless of how closed or open those societies are or have been.. DominO123
How many times will it take you, or is it even possible to throw 60 pennies down on the ground and get either all heads or all tails??? For information purpouses. There is 1/1152921504606846976 chances for that to happen. Supposes that you are pretty fast and do that in one minute. That would mean that it would take you about 1152921504606846976 minutes to have a big chance of success assuming that you get one new combination each time.(if that is not the cases it will require complex mathematical statistical analysis) 19215358410114116.27 hours 800639933754754.84 days 2248988577962.79 years Actually we could consider it nearly impossible... unless an observer effect. Dan
what a good Christian propaganda. I hate to break it to you, but until you can prove that your bible and your BS Leviticus and Romans and Corinthians (which don't NAME homosexuals specifically) is a book that has been inspired by God or the so-called existence of Jesus, it is even worse than an unproven scientific argument/hypothesis... Now go and blind yourself by reading those verses over and over again, and read the original scripts too (do some research on how the translation from the original to English has been changed, and how many female religious figures were changed into male, and if the male gender of God is any indication of the patriarchal [not to mention compulsory heterosexuality -- all concepts created by human beings] aspect of the Bible and its being a hoax, and people like you weren't stupid enough to believe in what they were told and what millions of people sheepishly believed, something that may be false/non-existent (50/50 chance if you can't prove that God exists, right?), we would've had a better and more peaceful world, in which your hypocritical religion wouldn't have killed in the name of God by going on crusades, and hypocritically accused Islam of using the sword to spread the religion...
