Evolving Values And Standards For Wome Worldwide

Came across this article the other day and found it fascinating. Enjoy - and look foreward to some comments.

I don't believe that there should be any seperate standards for men and women in this regard. I also think that people should expirement a bit before marraige - to know what they like, and to some degree to get it out of their system. And best to check out your future life mate to make sure that you two are compatable and will indeed have fun..and not the opposite - i mean one shouldn't be condemned for making a choice based on ignornace. And I fundementally believe that sex is good (in general) and our world would be a better place if more folks were "getting it" more often - people would be happier - more content - less prone to violence and phychotic episodes etc etc...and while there are certainly drawbacks/issues to/with "sleeping around" or being too promiscuous - in general i think most folks could stand to loosen up a bit and enjoy themselves more...anyway - nothing new - Ive certainly stated these beliefs here before....

Cao currently has two boyfriends, one a married man. "It's normal," she said.

:jawdrop: wow... I'm not sure I would do that, but still, I think it's cool, and it's her choice to do what she wants.. Besides, if men have double affairs, it's usually more acceptable, but with women, it's not... and I don't like that.. hmm..

I agree with basically everything you said, THOTH. :D

And I think the Armenian community needs to loosen up a bit w.r.t sex and relationships... I don't mean my grandma's generation, I mean the youth - a lot of them are closed-minded and seem to believe in arranged marriages or to be radically against interracial marriage.. But of course, there are others who are very open-minded about things like that.. but still..

She was fired for having sex with the rock star and others, but she was a columnist specializing in sex tips ... so how was she supposed to get the info if she wasn't having sex?Fascinating!

I guess i've lived in the states too long,I always assume that things are the same all over the world...

It is expected to at least double following the October annulment of a law mandating that all divorces be approved by a couple's employers.

Wowzers......approved by the couples empoyers?! Esik chem haskum!

It's definately a big world out there, many countries in Asia are going through a later day "sexual revolution" at least in the public eye. Many stereotypes about asia both inside and out are being destroyed as we speak and live. I spent two years living and teaching English in Japan. And it's a lot more 'free' and wild out there than most people would expect.

Oh, there are some HORRIBLE stuff out there. Just flat out wild. They like a lot of underage girl action as well. Living there, I got to see more of how that psyche developed. Speaking the languaged helped to get a lot of wild stories told to me at bars and such. :P

That's sick, and you thought theirs was a prude society.

But then, hey, I've also read one article about the things mothers will do for their teenage sons for them to be able to concentrate on school work, and it's not just one family or a bunch. Yuck!

Yeah! Wild, so you have heard some of the shadier aspects. haha. Interesting book called Pink Samurai is a socio-sexual look at Japanese society and traditions. Pretty interesting/wild stuff there.

Hmmm, don't you koalas have anything better to do, like being hugged? ;)

That is not a koala. that is Chiburashka. :(

Now I really need a hug especially after your comments and Domino saying that he was laughing at my new avatar. :( (Sip, please don't get any ideas of coming over and giving me a hug)

I do feel bad, because it's a good article and a great subject. I'll say it like this, the double standard exists but I dont' think it should, yet I do have standards of my own. I waited till just around the age of 18 before i slept with anyone and even in the sexual playground which is college I wasn't nearly as much of a 'soldier' as most. I believe people can do what they wish, but there will be consequences(social, mental and sometimes physical) that is up to them to deal with. Calling someone a 'ho' for me is equal opportunity, some of my best guy friends are 'hos' and i let them know. Just the way it is. Sure stories are funny and entertaining and but when it involves me and a women i'd like to be with, i'm not too happy to hear that she's slept with more people than a Crafmatic bed! I've always said, if your "number" is like a line, I don't want to be number 10 in a line of 20. It's just not appealing to me. Obviously if you're out prowling the street on a Club Night, you're not thinking about such things. I don't discriminate against girls, I actually like my girl friends to be pimps, but not my girlfriend. :D And i do live by my word, at 26 my 'number' is way low and i'm happy about that. Other stuff is cool, but for me actualy intercourse isn't taken lightly. More power to the women though, take control of the game more, because as much as we fool ourselves as guys we know that if more women realize they're in control, the world as we know it would come crumbling down.

Sev marde -

(good for you BTW!)...

It seems to me as there should exsit some happy middle ground. While I respect this Chinese gal/journalist for defying the norms and doing her thing byt her rules etc...I fel sad for her too...as I think she has much cheapend her experience...and misses the point of it somewhat/very much as well. In addition to it being risky behavior in this day and age - even in Chins\a - and pe\retty much everywhere now it seems.

And its such a shame that now - when we have various birth control methods and such to allow folks (women in particualr) to be more sexually liberated and allow for more fun etc - that we have this terrible disease AIDs that has put such a damper on things (so lets hear it for safe sex eh? - virtual! LOL) ..in my time (1980s...) - when I was most active with different partners and "fun" stuff..well it was before Aids was really out there. Sure - it was just starting to be reported among gays and perhaps IV drug users...but for the rest of us...well...it was no worries (not that I didn't have a few "worries" in my time...but certainly nothing life threating..) oh well...certainly looking foreward to some more opinions etc ) (and yeah Domino...try to keep in on topic why don't you..I mean if this as all from your head why did you go and make everything so difficult huH? I mean shouldn't it be wild & free and just one big party all the time!?!?!?)....

Talking about the article.... Maral is right. Everywhere is the same! Just go back few years ago, when the whole world was laughing at Americans, not Clinton and Monica. Americans are prone to double standarts just like anybody else. Not to speak about the widespread domestic violence.

Yeah the climate of the time makes it even more bleek for a person like me to ever really want to jump into the dating-gene-sex-pool. :P I mean I have friends who have even gotten non-lethal incurable diseases(if you follow me) and that will change your perspective drastically. It's just rough out there.

The last empire that tried to develop worldwide standards was Soviet Union. It's funny how US is resembling USSR in its ways. Everything goes worldwide like the worldwide "Internatsional" of communist youth or worldwide Red Revolution.

Why do you need to impose a social value worldwide?

I need the world to be different and that's my freedom and my right to see the world diverse. I want to go to Japan and see something Japanese and not the current mutation. People wonder as to why is Japan's sexual life so weird. That's because Japan's soul was brutally murdered after WWII. And the Japanese energy is finding its way out throught different tranformed ways.

That may be the case. They are truly an intersting and different people, I can say that with conviction. They have many parts that are borrowed from "western" thought and refashioned in their image. And while their youth my idolize westerners, and our 'celebrities' etc.....they still have distinct Japanese way about them. I hear what you're saying Armensarq, we need the differences in the world. Thats why I enjoyed my stay over there, because it was different. (very  )
