This is simply being truthful here:

My having either a basketball league game, or tournament. My playing well, to the tune of 28 points(or something around there) my team winning with my achchik in the stands cheering me on. After that heading home and showering up for a nice dinner and some drinks. I'd prefer italain somehwere with a view of the ocean, I have a great spot in Del Mar, San Diego. A night of light flirting and constant compliments, just enjoying each others company.(I'm real big on conversation with girls so this portion would have to be filled with some great dialogue)

When home is reached, another bottle of some light red wine will be popped. While decompressing from the evening we'd get more comfortable with each other and then as we enter the bed.......

My ideal romantic evening would start off with a dozen oysters and Sauvignon Blanc, then a game of pool and a beer competition, which after we will engage in a heated political discussion and I will undoubtedly win. As a result of my victory my feet will be massaged while we both eagerly praise my brilliant persona. I go to sleep. Now that is what I would call “Un magnifique soir!”

Yeah...Ok...understood to a degree...but where is the romance part? ...so you fall asleep (drunk and) content and happy with yourself (and with a nice foot massage...perhaps the most romantic bit IMO..LOL)...but I still fail to see where this leads etc...am I missing something?

And sorry if it sounds like I'm knocking it...I understand to each their own...but what i wouldn't give to be in that Tub with "Bruin...though Stormy has a point about the music...something a little racier would be my preferance...(but I certainly wouldn't complain...)

And Sev-Marde...your smooth and excellent conversationalism aside...I also fail to see much romantic - outside the bottle of wine and the perhaps unsaid romancing yet to occur...LOL (and actually Sev-MArde - i also should add - that your script is exactly what i am planing for this evening...playing some b'ball (perhaps a bit of flirting...but just on the light side...I'm the "old guy" etc...still can hold my own...)...drinking some wine and all the rest...not sure I see it as romantic...but its not what i would consider a romantic evening...just a positive direction one calorie wise...and yes certainly plesent and satisfying in its way...

Hey THOTH (I knew you'd be around to comment :D )

I'm keeping it real as possible. My girl and I(she's a ballplayer as well) have many of these 'romantic evenings' We do plently of traditional things as well, it's just this is 'my' version, i've told her these exact words and we've had this occur. I've also suprised her with flowers, stopped in front of her house in the middle of the night, prepared food for her, and rubbed her feet :P I mix it up, i definately do the things she likes and she vice versa.

But being with the right girl, who's smart and can speak well, makes me feel good, which is a big part of being 'romantic' I can go for unconvential romanticism, because like most things in the world, most ppl think 'romantic' is what they've been told it is.

MosJan,I like yours the best so far.

As long as the kids are in bed on time, and the computer gets shut off...the possibilities are endless!

I have found that the wine, scenery, the jacuzzi, the music etc...is so important before the kids join the family, after they join us WE JUST WANT THEM TO GO TO BED ON TIME! Is that too much to ask for?????

But the kids wont' go to bed on time, and the dang DSL works like a charm most of the time!

Maral --- I am so so with you on this one....and we are cursed (?) with kids who love to stay up late...and my wife works (like me) and seems to always be so tired during the week (certainly not ideal)...we are planning on purchasing a new jacuzzi soon thouhg...and there is always wine...(and to a lesser degree scenery and sometimes music)...so we manage somehow...

And Sv-Marde - you misinterpret my comment completley..I said that I understood...

Why must we always associate romanticism with the conventional “Ooh baby, let me show you how many ways” and “Love movies” and “Candles” and “Long walks on the Beach”. I guess I am too liberal about what each one perceives about romance. I say whatever tickles your fancy. I am too like sev mart a sucker for a heated intellectual discussion fused with a bit of flirtation, rather then just gazing into each others eyes and telling each other evey 1 minute how much we love each other. :yucky:

In terms of me going to sleep drunk and happy sounds highly romantic to me, why must it always end up with “passion” and why can’t my companion be ecstatic just merely making me happy without a conclusive reward? I say whatever hits the spot, and if you find burping is romantic so be it as long as you are both intoxicatingly happy.

Ok Anileve...didn't mean to offend...and i do understand what you are saying...still perhaps we have a slight semantics problem going on...don't know...and sure...I definaly could see the evening you described being "romantic'...all depends on the person and the circumstance....yeah...very much so...so perhaps we agree after all...sorry...didn't mean to "call you out"....you'd probably smash that beer bottle over my head wouldn't you...and god knows what you might have planned for that pool stick!!!! :o

Lets leave that one for “Sadistic acts I would like to perform on Individuals who don’t worship my ways of thinking” Thread. Dear Toth, I hardly take life seriously; do you really think it’s so easy to offend me? Au contraire, I am quite invincible to offence, so keep it coming! :D

Isn't that called a regular date?// B)

Guys, I'm utterly disappointed. First, romance has nothing to do with eating (desert excluded) and drinking (white wine and champagne excluded, I would definitely have a glass of Henessy). And the 'ice thing'?! The only use of ice would be if she is on top of me and put some ice on my stomach. The result is reflective convulsion.... I would better stop here!!! :)

well, let's see...i was responding to what an "ideal romantic evening" might be...no one said anything about spicing it up and making some wild passionate memories !! ... if that were the juicy case! ;) ...then i'd have to say that there would be a smooth transition from classical to the ever sexy & sultry jazz!!! oh yeahhhh!! jazz, sweet sexy jazz!! to accompany alllll night...
