CheekY
I was just watching this Armenian talk show where I think a sex therapist and a psychologist were saying there’s lack of sex education in Armenian families and schools and many girls as well as guys have no idea about it…like they (mostly girls) learn from movies and think it’s all romantic and dreamy with flowers and all but when the first night comes they’re disappointed as it’s not what they were expecting…don’t like it because it’s too rough and painful…guys don’t know how to be more gentle…so some marriages fail…they’re not ready and all that…they also said that virginity isn’t that big a deal for the couple as it is for their parents and relatives and there are cases where the guy doesn’t sleep with his wife in order to take her to the doc and prove to his mommy that she’s a virgin…the red apple stuff…some mothers in law have to see the bed sheets the next morning…sick!!! they said if you think traditions will ruin your life ignore them... sorry I didn't memorize everything they said Edited November 21, 2003 by skittles
Sip
Virginity is just as rediculous (if not more) than complete sexual promiscuity. I think by the time people decide to marry they should have experienced a few things in life ... this includes different people, different sexual partners if you will, living on their own, traveling if possible, supporting themselves, etc etc. Only then will they be able to make an informed and wise decision about who they want to spend the rest of their lives with and how. sev-mard
One call still have sex and be pure and good. There are many examples of people who waited for many years for the 'right one' and made the right choice for their first sexual partner, all before marriage. I would not call any of these people loose. Old ideals do die hard, many times when the actual reason for them are already dead or long forgotten. ExtraHye
It's insignificant if the girl is a virgin or not. I don't think anyone pays much attention to that these days. A relationship should be based on trust and communication. Who cares about if the other partner has experience or not.

hyebruin
i think the whole big deal about virginity has been in existence since the beginning of time because back then, waaaaaay back then men also did not have too many sexual partners or none at all before they got married. in that kind of a world, yes! absolutely keeping it is honorable and respectable, but i think if people nowadays thought that way they'd have to be over 30 or 40 before they have their first sexual experience...but some people choose to live this way?!?!-----times have changed, many things are not sacred anymore,...pretty sad!---within the next 50 years or so the term "making love" will probably vanish (just as "romance" is now extinguished!!)and be replaced by something more vulgar that reduces the experience down to basically..."bedroom aerobics"... CheekY
I think that it’s ok to have fun when you’re in a committed relationship…Though I really hate those Europeans and Americans who start having sex at the age of 14 and many are ashamed of being a virgin at 16… <_<
Sasun
Sex is not rocket science, everyone can do it. No need for prior experience. Virginity is a good thing - it is as sign of purity and selflessness. If someone has kept virginity for the special one there is much to expect from her/him. (Provided the virgin was not forced to be one but did consciously out of free will). I think only a virgin deserves another virgin.
ExtraHye
I agree with you Sasun jan. But lets say you meet someone, and things go great. You love this girl very much, but then find out she's not a virgin...Would you end things with her, or continue with the relationship... Sasun
I agree with you Sasun jan. But lets say you meet someone, and things go great. You love this girl very much, but then find out she's not a virgin...Would you end things with her, or continue with the relationship... It all depends... I am not sure what you mean 'turns out'. If the woman lies that she was a virgin and turns out she is not then it would be a good idea to end things with her. Because today she lied about that, tomorrow it may turn out that she has a boyfriend. But if you are really in love with her that would be a hard thing to do. If you mean that the guy simply is imagining that the girl is a virgin but she is not then it maynot be good to end things with her unless the guy loves virginity more than the girl. So, Extra jan, you are asking a difficult question. I don't know what the answer is, it all depends

Anahit
I would end it. I am a virgin and will be until I get married, I expect my wife to be a virgin also. NEVER SAY NEVER U know, sSebB, i not only used to think like u, but even feel: I always felt disgusted towards the guys i knew had have many girlfriends. Even there was this guy madly in love with me, and all my friends, family members all wanted me to marry him, but i couldn't even kiss him! blah! cause i knew he had many girlfriends before (he was very handsome and quite rich). i even would feel disgusted when he'd hold my hand. STILL, i did marry a guy, my husband, who was not a virgin: of course! how could he be? such a handsome guy! girls just die for him! but i love him soooooo much, that i really don't care about it, i really don't feel disgusted to be with him; in fact, i can't spend an hour without huging and kissing him something i'd never do and don't feel like doing with any other guy, cause i feet they have been with others... i feel disgusted. i know, this kind of feeling is not very right, but i am quite strange in many other ways too, so... i guess this is just another "Anahit thing" So... love changes our ideas and feelings, trust me! It's a shame to end a love story because of some principles.. that is when you regret most.. Not being a virgin does not mean being "dirty" or "disgusting". What is disgusting is those guys/girls that only think about having sex with the most people without even having feelings for them.. Just for personal pleasure. I'm sure you were a virgin when you got married though, correct? I understand what you mean and what you're trying to say, and there is probably a good deal of truth to your post. But I'm sure not every girl is OK with their husbands not being virgins. Some are, but they are usually the ones that dont have strong morals (not that I'm calling you one of them ). Anahit
But I'm sure not every girl is OK with their husbands not being virgins. Some are, but they are usually the ones that dont have strong morals. Oh, sSebB, u shouldn’t think like that about other girls: having the fact, that every man (well, ALMOST every man, as we have some nice guys around, like u) is not a virgin before their marriage, it “forces” girls to have no choice but marry men who have already been with many other women before; WHAT CAN WOMEN DO ABOUT IT? If girls wait for virgin man, they’ll never get married! Admit it! It’s much much easier (and more and more difficult ) to find a virgin girl than a man! If it was in my hands, I’d wish for everyone to marry the ones they deserve (meaning in all aspects of life) ! But people get married because of love, and falling in love is something that can’t be measured by principals and ideas: like Russians say, “Lyubov’ zla, bolyubish i kozla!”. Plus, it is soooooo difficult to find someone u love, YOUR OTHER HALF, someone who makes u feel so happy, that u envy yourself, so when u do, trust me, no principle or ideology should keep u away from that person: two people in love must "eliminate" everyone and everything that comes between them!
