Հուլիսի 30-ին Բաղրամյան պողոտայում հանրահավաքի ժամանակ ցուցարարներից մեկն ինքնահրկիզման փորձ կատարեց՝ ի նշան բողոքի, կրակը հաջողվեց մարել, սակայն նա այրվածքներ ստացավ:

Մի քանի րոպե անց ինքնահրկիզման փորձ կատարած քաղաքացին հրաժարվեց օգնության համար եկած ոստիկանական մեքենա նստել՝ ինքնուրույն ոտքի կանգնելով: Նա հեռացավ Բաղրամյան պողոտայի այն մասից, որտեղ ցուցարարներ են կուտակված: Շտապօգնության մեքենան այդպես էլ չժամանեց:
Քաղաքացուն հավաքի մասնակեցներն օգնեցին տաքսի նստել՝ հիվանդանոց տեղափոխելու համար:

Հուլիսի 31-ին Ճառագայթային բժշկության և այրվածքների գիտական կենտրոնի վերակենդանացման բաժանմունքից հայտնի է դարձել, որ ինքնահրկիզման փորձ արած քաղաքացու վիճակը ծայրահեղ ծանր է: «Ինքնահրկիզման փորձ կատարած տղամարդու վերին շնչուղիների 20 և մարմնի մակերեսի 50 տոկոսն այրվել է, վիճակը ծայրահեղ ծանր է»,- ասել էր բժիշկը:

Էրեբունու ՊՊԾ գունդը գրաված «Սասնա ծռեր» խմբի աջակիցները հուլիսի 29-ին հերթական հանրահավաքն անցկացրեցին Ազատության հրապարակում: Հանրահավաքից հետո նրանք երթով շարժվել են դեպի Խորենացի փողոց, որտեղ գտնվում է ՊՊԾ գունդը, սակայն կեսից ցուցարարների մի մասը թեքվել է դեպի Սարի թաղ՝ հավաքվելով այնտեղ: Ոստիկանությունը ցրել է ցույցերը՝ հատուկ միջոցների կիրառմամբ, ծեծվել են բազմաթիվ քաղաքացիներ, լրագրողներ:

Տուժել է 73 քաղաքացի (5-ը՝ ոստիկան, նրանցից մեկը հրազենային վիրավորում է ստացել գնդի մերձակայքում փոխհրաձգության ընթացքում): Բերման է ենթարկվել 165 մարդ, ձերբակալվել է 26-ը:

Armenian community of Belgium has sent an open letter to President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, in which it expressed its concerns and dissatisfaction related to the recent events in Armenia.

The authors of the statement particularly mention that the community existing since 1923 has never made any attempts to interfere in domestic issues of the Republic of Armenia till now. "However, considering the level of importance of the recent events we are obliged to make a statement", the authors mention.

The Armenian community of Belgium condemned violence against the representatives of mass media and use of excessive force by police officers, as a result of which a lot of citizens were hospitalized. "There is no justification, for such, to put it mildly, non professional behavior", the statement reads.

"Mr. President, current deep crisis emerged during your tenure as president. It is political one and the resolution of it should be only political. In this light we address to you with a call to display vigilance and cease the policy of suppressing people's will by harsh force, which leads to further escalation of the situation and try to heed the voice of people, its demands and needs and find peaceful resolution for the ongoing situation via negotiations", the statement reads.

The Armenian community of Belgium considers that Armenia is still far from democratic values. It also demands from Serzh Sargsyan to direct efforts for exercise of principle of supremacy of Law. "We, the Armenian community of Belgium, stand for establishment of democratic freedom and protection of human rights in Armenia", the statement disseminated by the Armenian community of Belgium reads.

Protest in support for detained members of Daredevils of Sasoun kicked off on Liberty Square in Yerevan.
All those who wish to express their opinion may come to the microphone and call for release of the arrested politicians and public figures. One of the speakers, 71-year old senior citizen, has announced indefinite hunger strike demanding to set free Alek Yenigomshyan, member of ASALA and Founding Parliament.
On July 31 Armenian Police published a video of surrender of members of Daredevils of Sasoun, which seized the building of Police Patrol Service Regiment in Erebuni district on July 17. General Vitaly Balasanyan, who according to official information, was the only negotiator between the authorities and members of the group, controlled the process.
20 rebels from the initial number of 31 were remaining in the building and decided to surrender. Member of Daredevils of Sasoun Varujan Avetisyan admitted that it was a very difficult decision and stated that the movement suspends confrontation, changes methods of struggle and will continue it as "prisoners of war".

Armenian MPs banned from visiting jailed Sasna Tsrer members

PanARMENIAN.Net - Even parliamentarians are banned from visiting those arrested in the recent siege of the Yerevan police station, a Prosperous Armenia Party MP Vahe Enfiajyan said, according to Armenian media.

According to Enfiajyan’s Facebook post, “on arriving on August at the Nubarashen penitentiary to visit the Sasna Tsrer armed group members with my colleague Levon Khachatryan we were informed that the preliminary investigation body bans any meetings with arrestees; the latter are disallowed from making phone calls, meeting with their families and mass media.”

The MP further stated that legal measures will be undertaken to meet those arrested.

Earlier, opposition MP Nikol Pashinyan was disallowed from visiting the injured members of Sasna Tsrer armed group at the Hospital for Convicts.

As the MP stated in his Facebook post, “the heads of the Hospital for Convicts disregarded my right as an MP to see the members of Sasna Tsrer. This, in fact, means that an illegal political decision is being implemented to forbid me any communication with the detained or arrested members of Sasna Tsrer.”

In answer to the question whether Serzh Sargsyan will meet with Zhirair Sefilyan, considering that he had expressed readiness to meet after laying down the weapons, Chugaszyan said: “Ask this question to Serzh Sargsyan. We have the recording of negotiations over laying down the weapons in which the guys are clearly promised the meeting. If the meeting does not take place by 6 pm on 4 August 2016, we will publish that recording.

Rally in Liberty Square followed by procession to Baghramyan Avenue

Hundreds of people gathered in Liberty Square in Yerevan on Wednesday evening to support the disarmed Sasna Tsrer group (Daredevils of Sassoon).

The demonstrators were chanting "Sasna Tsrer" and demanded immediately releasing the members of the group. The speakers at the rally were criticizing the leadership of the country and the current socio- economic situation, demanding a power shift.

76-year-old citizen Ashot Petrosyan, who has been on a hunger strike since yesterday, also made a speech. Like the other speakers, he also demanded that Serzh Sargsyan should resign and the Sasna Tsrer group members should be set free.

A former member of the Armenian National Movement, Ashot Manucharyan, unexpectedly approached the platform and said that the Armenian people worldwide are ruled by Liberty Square, not "by presidents, prime ministers or parliament speakers". "Both the world community and the superpowers take into account the opinion of Liberty Square rather than presidents, parliament speakers or prime ministers. Everybody in the world, including Obama and Putin, must see that Armenian people are in Liberty Square again," Manucharyan said. He stressed that if Liberty Square brings enough people together, Sasna Tsrer member Pavel Manukyan will stop his hunger strike and Serzh Sargsyan will have to carry out the people's will. Manucharyan also called on the Armenian people to join forces and gather in Liberty Square.

Afterwards, leader of Democratic Fatherland Party Petros Makeyan took the floor. He said that Armenia has become something like "before and after" July 17 (the day Sasna Tsrer seized the Patrol Guard Service building).

Shahen Harutyunyan, the son of Shant Harutyunyan, who was arrested for the attempted forcible power shift, expressed his discontent with the fact that the rally organizers tried to hinder his speech and to find out what he was going to speak about. "I will speak about what I am thinking about. I think a peaceful fight gives no results in Armenia. All those who call for a peaceful fight are humiliated by the authorities and imprisoned," he said, noting that an armed fight is the best possible option in Armenia.

After the rally, the demonstrators decided to march along the central streets of Yerevan (Abovyan Street, Amiryan Street, Mashtots Avenue) towards Baghramyan Avenue, where the Armenian President's palace is located. The demonstrators asked the police to ensure their safety in the course of the procession.

Artur Sargsyan who supplied food to the members of Sasna Tsrer group (Daredevils of Sassoon) says he was a hostage of police, Sargsyan's lawyer Araik Papikyan has told ArmInfo.

When the measure of restraint against Artur Sargsyan was being discussed at the general jurisdiction court of Arabkir and Kanaker Zeytun districts of Yerevan, Artur Sargsyan said that he himself became a hostage of the police. After he delivered food to the Sasna Tsrer group, which seized the Patrol Guard Service Regiment, and wanted to leave the building, he was unable to do it, because he found himself at the gunpoint of snipers. "I wanted to leave the building but you were shooting. In fact, you were the criminals and you gave me no opportunity to leave the territory," Sargsyan said. To note, Sargsyan has health problems.

Earlier ArmInfo reported that on July 26 Artur Sargsyan managed to pierce the police cordon with his car though the police opened fire on his car. Artur Sargsyan was able to enter the territory of the Patrol Guard Service Regiment seized by the Sasna Tsrer group and to deliver food to the rebels.

Now Sargsyan faces the same charges as the rebels - seizure and destruction of buildings and vehicles, illegal keeping, sale and use of arms and ammunition. 2-month arrest has been chosen as a measure of restraint against Sargsyan.

Lawyer: There is information that Armen Lambaryan from "Daredevils of Sasoun" group is being tortured

Relatives of Armen Lambaryan, a member of "Daredevils of Sasoun" - a group of Karabakh war veteran who seized a police compound in Yerevan earlier last month demanding among others resignation of the president - have applied to lawyer Inessa Petrosyan for assistance, but the Special Investigation Service banned her from defending Lambaryan.

Inessa Petrosyan says she cannot even verify the procedural status and the health condition of Armen Lambaryan.

The lawyer said she received alarms that Lambaryan was subjected to tortures. That is why the Investigation Services does not allow his relatives and lawyer to visit him. "I am serious concerned about it, as I have reasons to think that there are problems with him," she said.

On July 29, at the police compound seized by "Daredevils of Sasoun" (the group laid down their arms on July 31), Araik Khandoyan (aka Lonely Wolf) Armen Lambaryan and Arthur Melkonyan were wounded in skirmishes with Police. Lambaryan was taken to Erebuni Medical Center. No charges have been brought against him yet, as investigative actions are still held.

Rally in support of Sasna Tsrer held in Yerevan’s Liberty Square

YEREVAN. - The rally held in Yerevan’s Liberty Square is not conducted by anyone today, since Armenia’s Founding Parliament radical opposition group member Harutyun Aghlamazyan, who conducted the rallies during the previous days, was detained by the Special Investigation Service on Thursday.

In the absence of a leader, random citizens are making speeches from the stage. One of them was removed after he began blessing the policemen.

For her part, activist Ani Navasardyan urged the rally participants to gather in the Liberty Square at 7:00 pm every day, regardless of whether they will have a leader or not.

Attorney: Condition of Sasna Tsrer members Pavlik and Aram Manukyan still critical

YEREVAN. - The condition of Armenian Sasna Tsrer armed group members Pavlik and Aram Manukyan still remains critical, their attorney Inessa Petrosyan told Armenian News –NEWS.am.

In her words, Pavlik Manukyan continues his hunger strike. “I met with Pavlik Manukyan and personally informed him of Sefilian’s call to stop the hunger strike. He heard that and his commander’s urge brought tears to his eyes,” Petrosyan said.

According to the attorney, father and son Manukyans still remain confined to bed. “Their injuries are serious. Pavlik Manukyan will undergo several operations in the upcoming days,” Petrosyan said.

The decision about Pavlik Manukyan’s arrest will be appealed in the Appellate Court, while a similar decision with respect to Aram Manukyan has already been appealed, the attorney said.

As reported earlier, leader of Founding Parliament radical opposition group Jirair Sefilian urged Pavlik Manukyan to stop his hunger strike.

"Barev,Yerevan" faction of the Elders' Council of Yerevan has addressed an open letter to the head of the Special Investigative Service (SIS) Vahram Shahinyan over the latest arrests of the faction activists Armen Martirosyan and David Sanasaryan.

The faction says their activists are persecuted by the SIS for their political views, which is "anti- constitutional."

Member of Daredevils of Sasoun group Pavel Manukyan has reportedly stopped hunger strike at the penitentiary he was sent after being arrested over the latest events in Yerevan.

Lawyer Haroutiun Baghdasaryan quotes Pavel Manukyan as saying: "Listening to the calls of by commander Jirayr Sefilyan and remaining committed to the covenants of Daredevils of Sasoun - riot without blood - and anticipating the sooner victory, I stop my hunger strike." Zhirayr Sefilyan, who has been arrested for illegal keeping, transportation and sale of weapons, has addressed on Thursday a letter to his teammate, Sasna Tsrer (Daredevils of Sassoon) group member Pavel Manukyan, asking him to stop his hunger strike.

Sefilyan's letter has been published on his Facebook page by his wife Nanor. "Fortunately, on July 31, the guys took a correct decision, thereby preventing bloodshed on both sides. You have done your best. You have proved that Armenians have never been and will never be slaves. Your behavior has demonstrated that Armenians are not afraid of death or prison. On July 27, after the surgery, when you opened your eyes, you experienced two controversial feelings: happiness because nothing endangers Aram's life and sadness because the serious injuries have made you bed-bound. You have decided to go on a hunger strike. Dear Pavlik, if you are alive, God has willed it so. If you are alive, you have still a lot to do for Armenia and your family. Therefore, I ask you like a brother to stop the hunger strike and to recover as soon as possible," the letter says.

To note, Manukyan was seriously injured in a skirmish with the police. Afterwards, he underwent surgery. As soon as he regained senses, he went on a hunger strike and refused medicaments. His son Aram, who also took part in the seizure of the Patrol Guard Service territory, was also injured in the leg. He was also operated on. Now Aram and Pavel Manukyan are at the hospital for prisoners.

Fundraising has been initiated to support the Manukyans' family. Over the past two days, more than 1.5 mln AMD has been raised.

Armenia police detain over dozens of youths in Yerevan’s Liberty Square

YEREVAN. - The Armenian police have detained over dozens of young men in Yerevan’s Liberty Square.

The peaceful march in support of Sasna Tsrer armed group passed along the Northern Avenue, the Republic Square and Mashtots Avenue, returning to the Liberty Square, Armenian News - NEWS.am correspondent reports. Afterwards, most of the protestors went away, while the task force police officers headed by Yerevan Chief of Police Valery Osipyan began to detain those who were obviously standing peacefully.

In fact, exclusively young boys were detained. None of the policemen clarified the motive behind their actions, referring to the further clarifications by the Information Department of the police.

Founding Parliament opposition initiative publishes audio record of General Vitaly Balasanyan's talks with members of Daredevils of Sasoun group

On August 4, Founding Parliament opposition initiative published an audio footage of Karabakh MP, Major General Vitaly Balasanyan's talks with members of Daredevils of Sasoun group that seized the police compound in Yerevan earlier last month demanding among others the resignation of the president.

One can hear clearly from the record that Balasanyan promises Araik Khandoyan to organize a meeting for their jailed leader Jirayr Sefilyan and President Serzh Sargsyan, if the group surrenders. Balasanyan repeatedly says that he agreed with the president over the meeting with Sefilyan, if the group surrenders. "The president promised to me personally that he will meet with Sefilyan and discuss all the issues with him as soon as the group surrenders," Balasanyan says promising to guarantee the security of the group members after their surrender.

"I promise that in case of surrender, they will not be subjected to tortures and violence," he says. In response Araik Khandoyan says, "The guys are not afraid of tortures or beating." Then another member of the group, Varuzhan Avetisyan picks up and insistently asks to connect them with Sefilyan. "Only after his order, the young members of our group will agree to surrender. Otherwise, they threaten to blow themselves up. As for the Sefilyan-Sargsyan meeting, it can be discussed afterwards," Avetisyan says.

In response, Balasanyan says frankly that he cannot connect the group with Sefilyan by phone, as the president bans. It is noteworthy that Khandoyan and Avetisyan make demands on behalf of the young members of the group, not on their behalf.

The audio record was published as the meeting of the president and Sefilyan has not taken place despite the surrender of the group.

Meantime, Hermine Naghdalyan, Vice Speaker of the Parliament addressed the record after the meeting of the Republican Party's Executive Body saying Serzh Sargsyan is the statesman that always fulfills his promises.

Police Again Detain Mother of Two Sasna Dzrer Members Zaruhi Mejlumyan

Nvard Bilyan, the mother of two sons who took part in the armed seizure of a Yerevan police station on July 17, telephoned Hetq to say that police showed up at her house and detained her as she was preparing to take clothes to her sons Areg and Sergey Kyureghian.

Mrs. Bilyan has another son, Hayk, who was sentenced to nine years imprisonment for firing an air pistol in the direction of the police on July 12, 2014.

Bilyan says that unlike the first time she was taken into custody, on July 17, police today produced a detention order.

Armenak Kyureghyan, father of the three men, told Hetq that his wife was taken into custody today because she’s suspected of possessing deadly weapons.

Mr. Kyureghyan said that when police searched the house on July 17 they confiscated several daggers owned by his son Areg who volunteered to fight in Karabakh this past April.

Vanadzor Residents Again Demonstrate: Demand Regime Change and Release of Jailed Sasna Dzrer Members

Residents of Vanadzor, Armenia’s third largest city, again demonstrated on August 4 to demand regime change and the release of the member of the armed Sasna Dzrer group that seized a Yerevan police building on July 17.

Demonstrators have gathered in the town’s Hayk Square for the past few days.

Founding Parliament representative Gagik Yeganyan told the crowd that the group was forced to act as it did since “there was no possibility to stage a political struggle given the situation in the country.”

“On the one hand, President Sargsyan wants to hand over several regions of Karabakh to Azerbaijan, and on the other hand, is gradually conceding our country’s independence to Russia,” Yeganyan proclaimed.

Aida Amiryan, an unemployed Vanadzor resident, told Hetq that regime change was necessary.

“People have no more patience. It’s reached a point that they can no longer tolerate the authorities, illegalities and the lack of jobs,” Amiryan said.

She described the actions of Sasna Dzrer asa spark to wake the people up, and that it was successful.

Armen Mayilyan, another demonstrator, called the Sasna Dzrer members “heroes” and likened them to Monte Melkonian, a diasporan Armenian who fought in the Artsakh War of Liberation.

Mayilyan said the protests would continue in Vanadzor until the authorities accept the fact that the Sasna Dzrer members aren’t terrorists but heroes.

Mayilyan said that most of the police supervising the demonstration also support the actions of the armed group but cannot openly say so due to the fear of repercussions.

69-year-old MikayelYesayan said that until the police and soldiers side with the people, nothing will change.
