Armen
i dont see where u get i was jumping on you.. but.. whatever.. i asked a few legitimate questions for which you had stupid rediculous answers to... and i would still like to know what you mean by .. so please do explain... either way.. calm down. Gevo, I owe you an appology man. I misunderstood your posting, twice . Part of it was that I didn't get enough sleep the other day. However, another part is that I couldn't easily figure out who are you talking to because you wrote a general address while incorporating a quote from me. To explain my answer - and it has been said here in this thread again and again: in modern society the necessity of circumcision can not be based on the argument of daily hygienic needs. Armen
Another question. There are various modifications (I love this word ), shapes, sizes, territorial locations of the female organ. How does this "circumcision phisical advantages" satisfy all the configurations ?
bellthecat
So far neither you nor those who defend and justify this form of mutilation have given me a satisfactory argument. There is no defense, and I suspect that those that condone this practice will fall into one or more of three camps. 1. Those that have inflicted it on their children, and cannot admit to themselves that what they did was wrong because admitting it would amount to them admitting to child abuse. 2. Those that have had it inflicted on themselves as a child, but still support the practice because they do not wish to think of themselves (or be thought of) as "less" than those who are still "intact". 3. Those who, sheep-like, always unquestioningly accept and follow the traditional opinions and practices of their family or society, and have learned all their beliefs and actions from that family or society. Anileve
I don’t fall into any of the camps you’ve listed, so which category best describes my standpoint?
Anileve
I don't agree with your point of view, no matter what arguments you use. Contradicts this…. Come up with an attractive argument and I might change my mind. Nairi, I think you are playing with my feelings.

bellthecat
I don’t fall into any of the camps you’ve listed, so which category best describes my standpoint? I don't really know. You tell me. Apart from a sort of obsesion with "hygene" that has no real validity you haven't really explained yourself. I suppose yet another camp could be one of those that get some sort of of sexual fetish out of it (but I'm not saying that you are in that camp!). I've just thought of a cast-iron way of forever excluding Turkey from the EU. Europe simply has to ban all childhood circumcision. (Those mullahs in Turkey like messing around with boys penises so much that they would probably put your average Catholic priest to shame! ) Edited August 18, 2004 by bellthecat

Anileve
I gave you a second chance since you seem convinced that you can convince me.. So I get a second chance to redeem myself by providing you with an attractive argument? I thought I already did by saying that it looks neater, wouldn't that be considered attractive enough? Barbarism is only relative, some people think that chopping the bushes of your lawn can be considered barbaric. Unless it imposes disability of some sort on a human being or the surrounding environment, I don't consider it barbaric. I suppose yet another camp could be one of those that get some sort of of sexual fetish out of it (but I'm not saying that you are in that camp!). That's a different subject . There is a difference between encouraging and accepting or condoning. I am assuming the latter.

Stormig
Parents should not have the right to excise flesh from their children. It is the child's body and even he can't have a say over it until he's 18, after which no-one in their right minds would go in for a circumcision. Armat
Yeah, well I don't like them so I prefer circumcised women. style_images/master/snapback.png TK what happened to adventure, little intrigue-a discovery. Why everything has to be so blunt and bold And I thought woman mostly were picky Jeez loosen up, the body is carried by the person and if you like her you'll like everything else too. The main reason why Armenian parents do this to their children is because they believe it's healthier.
Stormig
Believing it's healthier to circumcise and circumcising because of cancer in the foreskin are two different things.
