Yes! I do agree with you, but in those circonstances, right and wrong are not even concerned, it is about taking a good or bad decision for you, and possibly for the child to come(if that can even be said). But again, what the hell does right and wrong have anything to do here?

:smooch:

I guess I neglected to clarify the poll question. What I meant is, in case of undesired pregnancy, is it (morally) right to do abortion?

:D It still is not a just question. :D

Destroying an order can't be moraly right. Your question should be, should a woman have a child, which she know she can't take care of this child like the child need to be taken care of, and she knows as well that the chances that this child is adopted are slight.

This is the question that one should have, and answering to that, then one must question that considering the answer given, if abortion would be a good option, if such a woman was to be pregnant, because as much as morality is concerned, it can't be morality right, but can be the best option in some circonstances. Taking a good decision does not necessarly involve morality.

Isn't he just "special" - mmmmmm (LOL)

OK - a bit more serious...

A very good point - good decisions.morality and what have you...its a complicated mix...and nothing is perfect - often decsions have to be made that are in ones best interest even though some consequences might be bad...its just the way of things...though fundementally (pun intended) many folks make too much of this one. Sure others may make thsi type of decsion lightly (but for most it not)...and there is no question of a living breathing person haveing "rights" where a fetus...er um...not so sure...at a point perhaps...but this is not a person with a social security card or such that we are talking about...I mean whats next? Are we going to have a moral prohibition against (male) masturbation because were killing millions?

Male masturbation is immoral, I am against that. :D

Just jocking. Masturbation is a healthy thing, and plus a spermatozoid, not having the same number of chromozone as humans(they just got the half) can't be considered as a possible becoming human. I got you in that one, havn't I? :P

Actually, one must put a limit, because if we were to go deep and deep, we will end up, telling that not taking zinc supplements is immoral, because of the possible prematured death of spermatozoids. I find it logical, that the first cell, being composed of the entirity of the human cromozones should be the smallest thing to consider as a possible becoming human.

Domino, I am not convinced of your argument that abortion destroys order. What if baby is born that will become a dictator and destroy all order on earth by, let's say, throwing nuclear bombs. How do you know that the end result is more or less order?

I knew that will come up. I already gave the ellements to answer that question, in my posts about adding morality.

If you kill for self defense, you did kill, killing is not moral, if you were to not kill the other, he would have killed you, which is a killing you permited, which is as well immoral. 1 + -1 = 0, you did neither right or wrong, by killing for self defense. Abortion taken alone is immoral, never could it be moral, putting a child in the hand of irresponsable parents that will make this child suffer, is immoral as well. I don't know if you see what I am trying to say. This is why I said that taking the good decision does not necessarly mean it is moral. Suppose that in order to not let the child suffer, you chose abortion. What have you done, is it moral or not? This is a hard question to ask, because, you faces two things, that if you chose one, you will do something moraly wrong, and on the other hand, you will still do something moraly wrong, the best option would be to decide what is less moraly wrong.

This is why, abortion alone is morally wrong, it can't never be moraly right taken alone, neither if you add something else to the equation, your decision should be based, on what would be the solution which will be the less moraly wrong... but still, by your decision you won't make abortion moraly right.

As of the dictator thing, when you'll tell me how to predict that someone will become a dictator before even being a someone, I shall answer your question.

Domino, I am not sure what you mean. Can you say something that doesn't involve an arithmetic equation :D :D

I understand the "good" decision means the moral one. I believe in every situation there is one moral decision and other immoral ones. And the moral decistion is the only good decision. So I don't get it when you separate them.

But what would you say about the case of rape victim. You said that an exception can be made in this case. Now, how does your arithmetics work in this case? :D

OK, I predict that the child that Stormy is asking from you will become a dictator

I made the prediction, now its your turn to answer my question ;)

Sasun, when you decide to listen one music over the other, was it because listning that one was moral?

Not every good decisions you take are moral, you take them because for you it is the good decision.

Abortion alone, is not moral, that does not mean, that a woman after a reflection decide to have an abortion, will never make the right decision, because she has chosen abortion. Someone get pregnant, and that she knows she can not keep the child for various reasons, if the child was to be born, the way this woman will take care of the child would possibly be immoral, on the other hand, if this woman had to have abortion, it will still be immoral. In that cases, the woman will take the decision she believe is the best for her, and she will possibly take the good decision for her. But morality is just more than that. I do support the legalisation of abortion in some situation, but that does not mean, that I find abortion moral. Abortion in itself is for sure not moral, neither not taking care of a child, the question here, is what is worst, not taking care of a child or having abortion... and this depend on the parents own standards and values, the decision will never be moral in this cases, because one way or the other, there will be an immoral act which will be commited, the best that it should be done, is to limit it to the minimum possible.

This is why, the decision of having abortion can possibly never be right, because abortion in itself is about destruction. But again, that does not mean, that someone having one won't take the good decision for her, and possibly the child to come.

Domino, I don't think that an immoral decision made by me can ever be good. This maybe a matter of definition of what 'good decision' means to you. I am assuming the good decision is the moral one, whether or not it is good for me.

Choosing what music to listen is not they type of decision I had in mind in my previous post. Actually anything would be a moral choice it seems to me.

You still owe me an explanation - why destroy order when the pregnant woman is a rape victim, but not destroy it when the pregnant woman is not a rape victim. I mean, if you care about the order, why does it matter for you?
