Accelerated
Yeah, I visited Armenia a couple months ago. Its very different to say the least. I certainly wouldnt want to live there, as it is now, I dont think I would survive - LOL. May I ask why you moved there? I doubt it was for sheer patriotism, business perhaps? Now to adress some specific points: people are CRAZY here! What do you expect, everything is a problem in Armenia. The only problem here (West) is having a job, and if you like your job you got no problems! first of all they don't respect each other...especially teenagers! mmm...cant say, never really happened to me no one cares about the law and any rules Thats because they arnt enforced all the girls dress like whores In some (rare) circumstances yes, but mostly very trendy/fashionable and yes a bit revealing. Accelerated
One of the things that really shocked me took place while I was sitting at an outdoor cafe (early evening, still light) and I saw a couple of kids (11-13 year old guys) sitting at an adjacent table openly smoking and drinking beer! Pretty damn shocking.
hunny
well if you went to school or uni here you'd see how some teachers and professors treat students. well but many students are rude to their teachers too (those are mainly the spoiled rich people's kids). oh and the stupidest thing ever is when girls at uni start reapplying their makeup during a lecture in front of the teacher...they bring more cosmetics than paper to write on...really. yeah they may be fashionable but sometimes they try too hard and lots of girls apply a tonne of makeup and wear clothes to uni which normal ppl would wear at discos, bars or even restaurants...sometimes even the beach well anyway in general it sucks here and i can't wait to leave! Accelerated
Damn it! I knew I should have gone to the beach.....I mean uni when I was there.....LOL i can't wait to leave! leave for the States?
America-Hye
All the attributes of a nation on a path to "finding itself." The negatives are there because of the Soviet influences, the after-effects of the terror of Stalin, the black market. Oh, how I wish Armenia could become more like present-day Greece. TimeForChange
Have never been to Armenia, but I heard that it is indeed very poor. Though it dates back from a long time ago, when Charles Aznavour (hope you guys know who he is) first when there, he was schocked to see the number of people that pretended to be his relatives just to get a bit of his money. Now, about people having no class, you have to agree that the majority of Americans do not have class either. :0) Sure, the country (Armenia) has its problems, but it can't be that bad, can it? And if they are, then things can only get better! You can complain about it, but it won't change a thing. You're better off taking action to resolve the problems, especially since you're on the "battlefield". In life, there are those who condemn the darkness and there are those who light up a candle. Light up a candle, hunny, because the first option won't change a thing.
Armat
My fantasies of retiring in Armenia becomes smaller and smaller. I need hope…I hate to die in this freakin nightmare call US surrendered by white trash who can’t even name the countries bordering US let alone showing some respect to “foreigners”

Who's twisting your arm forcing you to stay in the nightmare? There are PLENTY of people in the world that would LOVE to trade places with you in a heart beat. I feel like a big tree which had been uprooted and planted in wrong soil, and as much as I try(reading from Zen to Raffi to Henry Miller) still the void.It could be a existential dilemma...Yahh I feel empty right now. Proud EXPAT
I grew up in North America and I moved here 2 years ago. I'm happy here. Not in denial and I could name a million things that bother me but I don't expect too much. I'd rather give. I see lots of Mid-Eastern Armenians here that sound just like Hunny, as if those countries are much better. As if Haleb is Rome, as if Beirut is Paris. I know Hayastantsis that I love very much and they treat me with so much respect. There are the rabiz guys and the girls that I suppose dress like whores, but there are also typical normal Hayastantsi guys and girls that just laugh at those rabiz guys and so-called whores. Don't generalize. If you don't like it here GET THE F___ OUT and stop making everyone judge this place like you have.
gurgen
no one cares about the law and any rules... Is this really new for you? they can't even drive or cross the streets! i swear people cross the streets without looking where they're going and the drivers don't look where they're going either! This is the same in almost every Southern or Eastern country, nothing surprising or 'Armenian' about that. waiters don't know how to serve properly. they don't know when to change your dirty plate and if they do change it they leave the dirty fork and knife! Welcome to the East. all the girls dress like whores...oh yeah if christina aguilera shows off her thong they gotta do the same here! they don't know what to wear and where and when to wear it...you get the picture. ooh and they way they talk REALLY annoys me. they're like "vaayy akhchiiii" LOL and most guys are immature rabiz idiots! This is because all the decent people left loooong ago.... oh i forgot to meniton "doctors"! many doctors are dumb and they don't tell the patients anything...obviously cuz they don't know anything and you have to bribe the nurses so they'll let you visit an ill family member/friend at the hospital and it's dirty and cold there! Did it ever occur to you that those people don't have any money because the great government spends all their money on arag and whores? It's not their fault, mostly. koko
hunny, I saw and felt just like you when I stayed in armenia a couple of years ago.I was there for 3 months more or less. Its not possible to survive in armenia One can retire there, I mean study , earn some money and then when you made all that, one could surivie there and retire... But its my homeland, so I cannot deny my country, whatever state it is in. I think that the situation has become critical, just as you have described it, only in recent years. (?) -- I attended music lessons at the komitas conservatory in yerevan.and i never saw any bad bahaviour in the students there were very nice and didin't at all speak badly with the teatchers, actually it was quite the opposite, the were extremly careful and humble when talking with their teachers.
