DominO123
It is estimated that millions of Americans reported being "ubducted" by aliens. The way they discribe that is as that... "Paralysed, unable to move" it happens pratically always, when they sleep and then they are awakened by that, and then realise they can't move. This description is explained by a not so-well known experiences of sleep paralysis with REM intrusion hallucination. It is estimated that the majority of people one time in their life will have sleep paralysis. REM sleep, is the phases of sleep, where the brain has the highest level of activity, nearly as active as wakefulness, in this phases of sleep controled by the hypothalamus/amygdala, the brain shut down any volontary muscle activities other than the eye muscles. Sleep paralysis happens when during REM sleep, the waves of REM sleep are mixed with wakefulness waves, similar to alpha waves... your mind awake while your brain still is sleeping... you may open your eyes move them in any possible directions, but can't move, since you are still in REM sleep(it is in REM sleep that the majority of dreems happens, and the most vivid ones), dreems are mixed with what you see in your evironment when you open your eyes. The window(in your bedroom) you see, you could see a spaceship window and outside you would see planets and stars, you would see aliens all around you etc... you will try to move yourself, you will feel paralysed and unable to breed etc... A frequent sleep paralysis could indicate potassium metabolisation problems, or deficiency of potassium, which will result of REM supression, and then morning REM rebound, a higher potassium levels or potassium hypersensitivity may cause an exagerated REM intrusion in sleep or even give theta-alpha intrusion. Here an interesting read about this anomality. http://hkpp.org/index.php?Sleep%20Complain...dic%20Paralysis Sleep paralysis could as well be sign of other disorders. Sasun
It is estimated that millions of Americans reported being "ubducted" by aliens. Really? I had no idea. but once I read that aliens had abducted a woman and stolen her face. So she was back on earh without a face (???)
DominO123
Yep, it is surprising, those statistics are amazing.
Stormig
you will try to move yourself, you will feel paralysed and unable to breed etc... I think you meant "breathe."
THOTH
I think you meant "breathe." No I think he has a point there - LOL...then again...perhaps she actually doesn't need to be able to move to "breed" (but certainly much less fun!)...so I guess its all a question of Alien genetics versus humans and weather there could be a hybird or such... bellthecat
This "sleep paralysis" is the origin of the medieval sucubus / incubus legends that later developed into the vampire literature of the 19th century.

I am sure that it has been responsable of many other myths, like visions etc... BTW, PM me the email address where you want I sent you what you requested. I think this is what happened to me last night and I suddenly remembered this thread (weird). I was lying on my side and felt awake. I was desperately trying to turn so I can sleep on my other side and I was completely paralyzed. My eyes were open though and I felt conscious (conscious enough to think about this thread !!). I didn't have any weird visions. Thanks Domino for this thread otherwise I might have paniced.
sev-mard
Whoa creepy, lots of things with the human mind, body and conscious we'll never fully understand. When I am almost falling alseep or just waking up from sleep I frequently have thoughts like "I'm not dead yet" or if I wake up alone in my room I imagine being alone in death or some other plane of existence. Think is from your mind and brain being on different wavelengths for a short period of time and it weirds you(a hue-man) out a bit. Interesting stuff.
