Assyrian
The Assyrians (also known as Syriacs, Arameans, Chaldeans) are the neighbours of the Armenians and come from southeastern Turkey, northwestern Iran, north Iraq, Syria and Lebanon. They don't have a land. They had before - Assyria, but it's gone since 612 BC. Through the years 1914-1923 1,5-2 millions Armenians where slaughted by the ottoman turks, kurds and other barbaric folks. The responsible for the genocide are the turkish government. Well ofcourse, you know all that. What many many Armenians and possibly you DON'T know is that the Assyrians got murdered to. 500 000 - 750 000 innicent Assyrians got killed. Let us not forget the Greeks (also known as Hellenics) to. Many greeks died. Today, there is a Greece, and there is an Armenia. But there is no Assyria. And there is no one that recognize the Assyrian Genocide. Armenia of all countries would be the first one to recognize it, but they haven't. (yet). In the armenian-canadian film Ararat from 2002 they say the Armenian Genocide all the time. The Greeks were mentioned one time. But the Assyrians.... none. The Genocide of the years 1914-1923 should be calledThe Armenian-Assyrian-Hellenic Genocide. Sasun
I actually knew that there was an Assyrian Genocide as well. I think many Armenians are aware of it. I agree that it must be recognized by all countries, including Armenia.
khodja
Of course we part-breed Assyrians know of the Assyrian Genocide. If you look at the big picture, it clearly shows that what transpired in Ottoman Turkey was a jihad. It blows the Turkish argument right out of the water. Unfortunately, just like some Jews who want a monopoly on Genocide, so some Armenians don't want to acknowledge that Greeks and Assyrians were also genocided by the Evil Three-Enver, Jemal and Talaat. On the contrary, a lot of Armenians poit to that fact to show that Turks were barbaric to others as well (often in an attempt to show that Turks are barbaric, not because of high humanistic feelings ). khodja
There should be no dichotomy between the three. The central command treated each of the groups with a different plan, but it was all part of ONE central goal--to eliminate Christians from the Turkish state. The policies which Turkey follows today are an attempt to finish the job by less bloody means.
Asdghig
I agree that the Assyrians killed must be acknowledged as well, and I am here as an Armenian to show my support. We need to expose those Turks for what they really are, and the only way this will be accomplished is by binding together, as one force. khodja
Asdghig, We need more Armenians like you. For too long we have sat, cried alone and isolated ourselves from the world. Armenians need to build coalitions, especially with other who have experienced the same fate under Turkish rule.

Arpa
Dear Assyrian, welcome to the Forum.Obviously you are not the once participant to this forum, Bass/Bassam, who barged in here declared to be an Assyrian/Chaldean/Babylonian/Ninevean. He trashed all Moslems and Arabs, he all but deified the Jews, hinted to parallels of Assyrian-Armenian past, present and future etc. and exited with a huff. First let us read the following from Armenian Now; http://www.armenianow.com/2003/may23/featu...haredsuffering/ THen we may discus who and what an Assyrian is, as well as what and who is an Armenian. If we can agree as to what we each of us are and unite among ourselves then perhaps we can seek associates in other ethnic groups. Now let us see what an Armenian is. Don't ask Khoja, aka Hagarag, half breed mongrel or purebred. He will tell you that the Mamikonians are mongloid, oops! I mean Mongolian, that the Bakratunis are Jewish, The Pahlavunis are Pahlavi, the Arshakunis are Persian, that the Armenians are descended from Noah, therefore belong to the Chosen Tribes. Some may dismiss the Yerevaians since they speak a "funny Armenian", those of diaspora cannot even speak it, funny or not, and the list goes on. As to Armenia, Assyria, Chaldea, Greece/Btyzantium let us see what Uncle Suleyman has to say about it(see TI). Then we will survey each of the maps below and decide how many of us can fit in that space, and what to call the land. How about ArmenoAssyroKurdoByzantium?? Did I leave anybody out? Yes! And you know who they are. As far as I am concerned they can go east and mix with their long lost cousins, or they can go west and embrace the Europeans who seem to have a great admiration for them. They can go to the Turkish Bath together, use Turkish towels, drink Turkish coffee while they rest their weary feet on the ottoman and savor some Turkish taffy.... Survey the maps below. Please not to forget the microscope to find Armenia in some of the maps. khodja
Arpa, I do not claim these alone. I have good company with Movses Khorenatsi and other scholars who attest to the Jewish roots of the Bagratunis and the Chinese noble roots of the Mamikonians. A recent book on Armenian queens includes Armenian Queens who were the daughters of Mongolian nobility. So you can continue with your ignorance (or more likely bigotry), if you wish but don't poison the minds of others here.

You can even claim to be "mongoloid", but first learn Armenian history. WE had intercourse with the Mongols, may even had married a "daughter/queen" but that did not happen until teh 10-11th century. The Mamikonians existed at least 600 hundred years before anybody had heard of the Mongols.Have you read Khorenatsi? I have! Now where he hints to Mongol. All he says is the Mamikonians came from the east and further analysis has concluded theta they may have originated from somewhere northeast Iran or no further that modern Kashmir. Regardless of this they would still be of IndoEuropean stck. As to Jeeish roots... you stick that up your...big Armenian... Nose!! If you dn't like this you can move to TelAviv, they are waiting for tyou with open arms, but first you must get in line, they are still considering if the so called Russian Jews are in fact real Jews. Whatever the hell that means.

khodja
Arpa, For your information, I am a "germag" Hye. I DO NOT have a big Armenian nose, nor am I a dark, hairy midget. So take your assumptions and stick them where the sun doesn't shine. Yes, I have been to Tel Aviv and it is a modern city. Hopefully Yerevan is becoming more like Tel Aviv as the Western influences overcome the Soviet ones. I found it very interesting to see that many of the Soviet era buildings had collapsed during the 1988 eathquake, while the old Czarist era buildings were still standing. Assyrian
Please dear armenians, do not ever sympathize the map of Kurdistan. Everything in it is stolen ground. They take a huge pieces of Assyria and Armenia. The only ground they can call Kurdistan is the heartland of Media. Did you know that the Assyrians were killed by the kurds in the genocide 1914-1923?, after being promised by the turks a bit land. But the turks deceived them. Guest Fadi
The Armenian genocide was not a Jihad, religion was just a plus, a pretext to bring fanatics to participate in the extermination process. First, the extermination was supposed to be directed against the Armenians only, some documents bring to that conclusion, including one from the Ottoman archive that was released by accident. The killings against the Assyrians started in those villages where Assyrians and Armenians were living together, then it started to be more generalised, Talaat being afraid that by those massacres against other Christian minorities would exposes his lies concerning the alleged mesures taken against the Armenians, he issued an order to stop the massacres against the other Christian minorities. But on the other hand, the second branch of the Secret organisation that already at first recieved an order from the hand of Talaat was asked to dismess any orders asking to stop any massacres of Christians in the vissinities of Armenian villages. So what happened was that Assyrians that were the minorities that were the most mixed with the Armenian communities had the same faith, since many Assyrians attended Armenian churchs an even schools, living in the same villages, they were sent all together to be butchered, during the same time that Talaat allegedly was sending orders to not extend the mesures against the Armenians, against other Christian minorities. With the Greeks, it was different, their faith was a little bit different, even during the war time, both the Greeks and the Turks, having each others minorities from the other sides under their hands, tried to go easy with their respected minorities, of course Greeks living with the Armenians have been butchered, but they were not really butchered because they were Greeks, but rather because they were Christian, while the extermiation against the Armenians was more then just them being Christian... The Official Ottoman statistics of the Greeks butchered from the same period(1915-1917) was of 200,000, those are the number of those Greeks butchered during the deportation, in does not account for the numers of Greeks that died of starvation. It was later, when the Armenians were totally emptied from Anatolia, that finally orders were issued to finish up with the Greeks, there was even a Turkish general angry with the government, for not having exterminated the Greeks all along with the Armenians when they had to occasion, because the extended mesures on the West side, before that the Kemalists were the ruling forces, concerned only to take back the power that some Greek communities had and give them in the hand of the Turks. There was more to that, the Ottoman recognised a Greek territory, there was always a way for them to just deport the Greeks in Greece, it was not the same for the Armenians, since for the Ottoman, not only there was no Question of forming an Armenia in ottoman soil, but they opposed vigurosly to build an Armenia in Russian soil as well, so any Armenian pushed outside of the ottoman, would want to come back, and if the Ottoman was to lose the war(they knew they will), then those Armenians comming back will claim their land. So, the only way was to issue an order to not let the Armenians leave the Ottoman empire, this is one of the stongest evidence that there was a plan of extermination. Those Armenians were "relocated" from the interior, marches after marches, left to be die in the Ottoman empire, the same way that the Jews in Europe were "relocated" or deported waiing the territories known as the 3rd Reich. This makes the Armenian genocide a mordern extermination, isolating the minority from any exterior contact, forbiding them to leave, destroying their circulation permit, and sending them in concentration camps in the desert. I have no problem calling what happened to the Assyrians as a genocide, but like I said before, I would not recognise anything called a Greek genocide, perhaps maybe a "Pontian Greek" genocide, but that is as far as I can go, because unlike what was done against the Armenians, the Ottoman intend was not to eradicate the Greeks, they always had the choice to deport them to the exterior, and they did that for many Greeks, the circulation permit of the Greeks, from the large majority, was not destroyed... In conclusion, the Assyrian genocide was a part of the Armenian genocide, the Assyrians were raken and mutchered with the Armenians, for many authorities in the Ottoman, they considered Assyrians as Armenians, but other then what happened with the Pontic Greeks, there was not full scale plan to erdicate the Greek ethnicity from the entire region and vanish the Greeks not only as an ethnicity, but as well their homeland. And I dont care if any Greeks come here and screem on me, this conclusion I made was after researches, and like I said to some Greeks, I won't change that untill I have evidences that the Ottoman did plan to eradicate the Greeks.
