DoC
I think money trully can't buy unconditional happiness. One of things I cherish most in life is waking up in the morning, next to the person I love....especially on lazy sunday mornings!
Pilafhead
Money doesn't make one happy, but it makes life much more comfortable. Priceless to me: --Moments when, without him knowing, my wife and I listen to our son singing or talking to himself while playing. --An afternoon at Descanso Gardens with my wife and son. --Armenian food with my family. Especially if it has been prepared by my grandmother or mother. --Watching people dance to a "kef" band (preferably John Bilezikjian). --A great song that gives you an adrenaline rush. Or a live, loud guitar playing punk or metal.

Gayane
Money makes it possible to even begin to appreciate the things that make us happy. Don't just automatically reject this once you read it (we're all conditioned to believe that old cliche "money can't buy happiness") If you have to worry about winning your daily bread on a DAILY basis there's no way in hell you're going to have the time or the inclination to listen to kef bands or heavy metal; watching your kids or being with your wife will not only NOT make you happy, but it will make you sick to the stomach because it'll hurt too much knowing there's no money to support them; you won't have any friends (sad, but true), and you definitely won't be going hunting for pleasure, or any of the other fine things that were mentioned Let's be realistic, ladies and gentlemen. Money makes a lot possible --not necessarily happiness itself, dont' get me wrong--but it certainly gives us the opportunity to be ABLE to enjoy all the things that were mentioned (and i agree) that make life worth living. Kazza
I think money is OK. I don't mind material things..I wouln't mind the latest big car, or designer clothes, but the best things in life are free! That is my preference, though. This is what I say but a frind once told me "you'll like money if you didn't have any" and that is true! You know that old saying money takes people apart? even when taken to the other extreme..often those who say money isn't everything are those with a roof over their heads and shelter, who have never had any threat of thier lives and freedom (FREEDOM, is one of the things I value so greatly in my life) then you would value having enough money to get by. Also. If you have TOO much money that will also take people apart because you are never knowing who your real friends are..who will want you for your money or not..who is trying to KILL you..Dragon I appreciate what you are saying but will having more money rid ALL the problems in your life? For example. You and your maliy are happy, you have mroe time on your hands, that's great. Then, when you go down to those gambling casinos , might you get the idea you could win, more money, and more, and MORE? Your wife might be getting upset you are spending more time there than with her and the kids...and you know what they say about idle minds with not much to do? Then you may think that this is the big win, and could lose the whole lot . Do you see what I mean? So what will we do? It's about finding a balance, I think. Make the best of whatever you have and learn how to deal with it?

You palyed 2 hours to die like THIS??? Che Moso jan?About happiness:From the experience of the passed period of my life, for the time being I think it's:"You never know what's gonna make you happy the next moment". Money is very important. But for me it's out of the context of being happy or sad. Money is something you get for being a creative unit in the human society or a given group in that society. You must make the surrounding society to be in need of your ideas, creations, products you make (well this is another topic )At present, what always makes me realy happy is the squealing of harmonica under some creazy boogy-woogy rithm I'll be listening to that when the appoclypse comes.Children: Only a very small number of human beings can lead a happy life without having children. dragon
Kazza, you are wrong my friend.I'm not a gambler as you think. Though I HATE gamblers, those who put their money in casino, while their children are sturving form hunger. But i like to go to casino with my wife, during the trips we can have around the world. I like to watch how people feel when they win ore lose (then I come home & write short stories...) Money can enlarge my doors through happiness & success. I can manage my life more easily & make my and my family dreams come true! When i have money, I like to visit Las Vegas one day & I'm sure I can find lots of thing to write about! Money I need: -to publish my books,-to keep going in travelling,-to be able help my friends in Hayasdan-to live more satisfied. null
Kazza
Dragon, the last thing I was trying to say is that you are a gambler!!! I know perfectly well what your intentions are, and they are good. Yes there are scumbags that spend all the moneymeant for their kids but what can you do??? It's not as if they know any better. It's like a disease or an illness. What i was trying to do was highlight one of the problmes that money can bring When you mentioned casinos, I thought I'd use that to show what money can do in the WRONG hands (which I'm sure are not yours...) It's just as if you made out that having loadsa money would solve every pronblem that there is but I think not only does it not do that but a few new ones may grow, or not, depending on how YOU as a person handle it. I think also using it in a non-selfish way helps a lot.Good luck with your books, and halping your your Hayastanis in Hayastan!! Those are two excellent causes. Hope you understand jan, Kazza. Nané
quote:Originally posted by LISA:Jokes aside, it is true that money doesn't make us unconditionally happy. What are somethings that you find priceless?Money can buy you "temporary happiness" (if there is such a thing). For me money is just the means to an end ... and that end is not material posessions for most part. A lot of my money is spent on concerts, theaters, CD's, books, traveling, etc. Note: the material objects are for the purpose of emotional nourishment also. Bottom line - I need money to support my emotional nourishment What is priceless? Health. There is no amount of money in this world that would compensate for that. You could have all the money in the world and the best doctors ever and still feel helpless. Innocence. The feeling I get when I hold a newborn is undescribable and definately priceless.Inner and outer peace. When you are at peace with yourself and with your surrounding. Rebirth. That's all for now.PS. Do you guys remember who sings "I need money, lots o' lots o' money ..." It was a black guy I remember. This was late 80's or early 90's. Anyone? dragon
Happiness you can not sell or buy, but you can create it in you heart and practically can spread it in people's life (family, community, nation). For me happiness has another meaning. Good conversation, respectful retation-friendship, privacy for writing, debating, travelling, seeing poeple I miss, working hard & earning money, more comfort in my life... But in the first place comes the creation. The day I write something new & nice, the day my heart beats with full of life. I'm happy when I write, even if I have no idea when can I publish that or can I earn some money instead? I'm creative, so I'm happy! You really do not NEED anything else.Unless the answer is something esle.. in that case you'll just have to bear with me a bit.. I'm a bit slow with getting jokes and riddles and things... Artur
More money - More problems! What is the point of money? To give everything to your kids... make sure your family has everything... make sure your parents, brothers and sisters... relatives have everything... and if they are happy... you will be happy. LISA
Alot of things make me happy! Being in the company of good friends.Dancing, laughing, walking on the beach.A nice hot day with nothing to do.Playing with my beautiful nieces and watching them grow.Buying a new pair of shoes. (only the girls can appreciate this)
Nunush
I know the feeling Lisa shoes, shoes, shoes. I've started my summer shoe shoping already . But then again, "Its all about the money, dam, dam, dararam dam" You know the song, don't you? Everything, but health can be bought with money. Money, earned in right way, gives you comfort, boosts your confidence, makes it posible to keep the youth and beauty(facials, massage, vacations, lux hotels). BUT, too much money, doesn't let you appreciate all the good things said above. It has to be occasional, to be valuable, if its all the time, it becomes casual.
