nairakev
Evgeni Vachtangov is one of the Russia's most well-known theater directors. He was born in Vladikavkaz (capital of Osetia, Northern Caucasus, Russia). His father became a rich merchant (and he russified his name). He didn't want to deal with his armenian heritage. Vachtangov in his memoirs tells the story of his armenian grandfather who was leaving in a separete small poor house, built especially for him by his own son. (his son was ashamed of his armenian father) Vachtangov loved his grandfather and never approved his father's humiliating behavior. Nowdays in Moscow's center (Stariy Arbat) you will find National Dramatic Theater of Evgeni Vachtangov. It is considered a very prestigious theater in Russia.
