Sip
I almost cried today ... I finally have a single remote control that controls EVERYTHING ... my TV, PC, Cable box, sound system, the switch that switches between all of them, the big fan in the room, and also can turn on and off and dim all my lights and appliances etc. I can press just one button and my retarded cable box goes to guide, picks the right favorites list, AND goes on the channel that I usually start browsing the guide at. I have another button that can turn on the wii, flip the tv to the right mode, set up the sound system, and adjust the picture for optimal viewing pleasure. I also set it up so that I can use my laptop to control the PC hooked up to the TV and also my work laptop with the big monitor attached to my lazy-boy by just scrolling my mouse off to one side or the other side of the screen. Em
When I cry, it's due to deep and overwhelming emotion. Whether for happy or sad reasons, I am grateful that I feel and am able to express that feeling. People who rarely cry trouble me. I imagine they don't feel things as strongly as we do, or are so good at suppressing their emotions that the emotion is diminished or controlled- hence losing it's effect. I'm really grateful for my sensitive nature and my ability to deal with it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I am grateful for yesterday's happiness, and I am willing to be a little sad today to equilibrate my life. Sip
If you want an affordable no-fuss, no frillz, no "install iTunes just to configure it" remote control, take a look at Universal Remote Control (that's the brand) URC-R50. I picked one up for $80. It is entirely self contained (no PC needed to program it) and it can learn commands from pretty much all remotes so even if you have something that is not in its build in database, it can learn every function you want. You can make macros etc right on the device and eventhough some of the features are pretty limited, I give it 14 stars (out of an arbitrary sip scale) I had to get this because I often got the feeling the firmare on my Philips 42" LCD TV and the one running in the Comcast cable box were written by a retarded 5 year old (no offense to any retarded 5 years old of course but you probably don't want one programming your appliances). I swear my eyes tear up every time I have to deal with these IDIOTIC devices. Why does my TV forget the picture settings every time I switch in and out of HDMI mode? Why doesn't my cable box just list all the channels that I can actually get? Even if you make a favorites list of all the channels you own, why can't the guide just show those everytime you go to it? And why does it revert back to ch 002 even though you almost always want to just look at the HD channels that start at 702? I sometimes wish everything was open source Edited October 18, 2009 by Sip

It involves lots of sex and you become a bit metrosexual and wear cologn and crap like that but the result usually is a remote control that not only does all the things you mentioned but will even go get you a beer after he/she learns to walk. Anoushik
On Crying... Azat jan, I agree life is too short…I keep reminding myself this when trivial things get to me (don’t seem to be very successful though)…but I also am good at producing tears (don’t know why), no need for extreme sadness…Qerri you are absolutely correct… For example…There is a program called "Blues" at CSUN, students go to classrooms and peer- educate about depression and suicide, there’s a video they show during the presentation I’ve seen it 2 times before, and on Thursday again they came to our classroom…There’s a part in the video where a girl talks about her sister who committed suicide…I was sitting in the 1st row, and guess what…I cried again…the presenter girl looked at me and stopped the video, and went on talking how she gets chills every time she watches it…. I was soooo embarrassed and upset at myself you can’t imagine… But Nane says its normal… But this video...that evening i laughed so much...seriously, i was falling off the chair... He's so sincere... I didn't realize how delving into the profession of education would be so emotional for us, would-be public school teachers. In one of our classes we saw a documentary about four teachers (inexperienced, recent college grads) and their first year of teaching in the inner-city, disadvantaged urban schools. At one point one male teacher - who had gone above and beyond to get help for one of his kindergarten students who has a learning disability - gets so frustrated at the lack of resources available at his school that he cries. I have to say that it was truly touching, and we, students in that class all felt his frustration and sadness. One classmate sighed loudly and I could feel that all of our eyes (the guys' as well) welled up in tears. Classes like that do want to evoke that kind of emotion from us. Only then can they ensure that they reached to us and made us further caring individuals.

Em
Anoushik jan, you have the perfect temperament to teach children. They will be lucky to have you in their lives. And your type of teachers leave lasting impressions and inspire students long after they leave the classroom.

Funny thing. I had not even heard of metrosexual until last week, when it was mentioned at the Harassment Prevention training we attend every 2 years. For those of you who are as baffled by this term as I was or think it simply means sex on the metro, here's the explanation per wiki. "Metrosexual is a neologism of the 2000s generally applied to heterosexual men with a strong concern for their appearance, and/or a lifestyle that displays attributes stereotypically related to homosexual men." Go figure
Nané
But Nane says its normal… How can you not cry after watching the "Pursuit of Happyness." I finally watched it this weekend and bawled like a little kid at the end.

I finally watched it this weekend and bawled like a little kid at the end. Next time around when putting together my class schedule…No long breaks in between classes…It’s annoying…Can’t study anyway…Can’t eat alone…Too much coffee consumption…reading pointless things online…UFF!!! Ani
No breaking news that people do things while driving (eating, drinking, speaking on the phone, texting, putting make-up, etc) …Today I observed two more…weird ones… A girl (let’s not mention the nationality) was curling her eyelashes while making a left turn on a VERY busy intersection (Woodman and Oxnard for those who know) at 7:30 AM in the morning… For those of you who don’t know, curling eyelashes is a pretty complicated process, it involves tools and inability to see… Tools http://www.thecosmeticmarket.com/images/P/ShuMiniEyelashCurlerL.jpg Processhttp://i.ehow.com/images/GlobalPhoto/Articles/5206699/EyelashCurler_Full.jpg Another man was writing a bill, balancing his check book holding the bill in one hand and postmarks in his mouth…
Em
LOL. Merra. The process gets easier if you are familiar with it and you really only need one hand and one open eye to coordinate a vehicle through an intersection. (Not that I would ever do such a thing.)
