There would have been 13 if the caledar makers had used their brains instead of... 4 weeks, 28 days make a natural lunar month, which would add to 13 months with one day left over (universal holiday?), or was it that 13 is not a favorite number? In fact I don't know, I have forgotten why the months were assigned 30, 31..and 28/29 days each.
