what about rap, reggae, hip hop, soul and Jazz and soul? what about those inventions? And the fact that most poular music in western society has at least SOME black influences? And as for the swearing, that, I'm afraid, I think it's great that you express yourself.

Yeah, I feel a good fan of some alternative music!

What is your prefered black male singer, writer, philosopher, scientist or DJ, Kazza?

My prefered black male is Martin Luther King. I think he was a great man who resisted the "evil" by non-violence. It's a great example of revolutionary good will.

His thoughts are still fascinating men and women arround the world, who love and stand for the diversity and equal rights. Here is one line, which I'd choose to address to those who still differ black, white, red, yellow and blue colors:

"..it does not require a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority keen to set brush fires in people's minds.."

But among them I'd like to say were some of the black candidates running for (some getting into) parliament in the US while slavery was still active.

I will also include some of our many great men and women throughout history, that inspire me everyday!

Great points Kazza. Most people seem to think that they are the center of the universe and others are just hangers on. Black culture has and does exert tremendous influence on popular culture in the US (and thus the world). Music is, of course, a prime example. White America would rather not acknowledge such - and in general is largely ignorant of the role of Black Americans in science and invention and in other areas (such as warfare) that make them just as much Americans and just as much valuable contributors as any other group of people over here.

BTW - I am partial to Ornette Colemen, Miles Davis, Taj Mahal, Muddy Waters, Etta James, Johnny "Guitar" Watson, Charles Mingus, Bob Marley, George Duke....and I could go on and on (not that I don't like my occasional Ice-T/body count, Public Enemy, Salt-n-Peppa (really), Run DMC, Grandmaster Flash, Parliment Funkadelic, Jimmy Hendrix, Sly Stone, (old) Ike & Tina T....likewise)...look at that...a lot of fantastic black men and women...and never once the need to refer to the size of the pistons in the "engine" etc - but heh you "hot rod" gals know the importance of Torque, RPM, free flow exhaust etc etc & such...its not all just pure displacement you know....LOL

On the top of many things that you guys have mentioned, I could also add the Modern American spirituals, as well as the Traditional African folk music. Sometimes I hear this music in movies on Africa.

Definitely, Africans are people of tremendous cultural heritage, which has had overwhelming impact on the Modern Western culture.

Just out of topic!

Once in Paris I met a black guy Eprem who was from Ethyopia. He said there are still some few Armenians in Ethyopia. The real Ethyopians are rather metisse type, but the new generation from Lebanon is white, told he.

So there are also black armenians? Well that's have nothing to do with black heritage I suppose. But in case if there are some armenians who are might be interested to know that.

Naira, to answer your question about the existence of black Armenians here is a funny story I heard when I was in Armenia 2 years ago.

Two armenian girls are traveling in the paris metro when a huge but very decent and well dressed black man sits facing them. The girls immediately start talking with each other in armenian about the fact that black men are attractive but have a bad reputation of being violent uncivilized troublemakers(which I dont agree with) and that it is impossible to have serious longterm relationships with most of them. One of the girls says that if the guy was armenian she would not mind dating him since she is very much attracted to him, and so on the conversation develops to reach expressions implying sexual images and the girls laughing at the idea that the man has no hint of whats going on.

Before the "terminus", the man takes out a pen and a piece of paper, writes his phone number and hands it to one of the girls by saying in armenian " yete bolor asatst jisht e uremn menk irar hamar enk sdeghzvel".

The girl never called him! (I suppose)

This story might have been exagerated and "modified" by the public, but apparently there have been mixed marriages (armenian-black) in ethiopia and the fruits were sometimes darker than usual. Besides I have personnaly encountered metisse children of black-armenian marriages.

By the way I am new to this forum and happy to join it. I am from Canada and was surprised of hearing about the existence of such a forum.

Hi to everyone!
