FROM MY NOTEBOOKS

++++++++++++++++++++++++++

We are a confused nation torn by conflicting ideologies, orthodoxies,

and tribal feuds all of which demand our blind loyalty; and where there is confusion there will be doubt masquerading as dogma,

crypto-fascist nonsense masquerading as selfless dedication to patriotic principles,

and pseudo-chauvinist crap labeled as rose-jam.

Who says we cannot agree on anything?

For a thousand years now we have consistently agreed to remain divided.

Work hard, but not too hard: you may be digging your own grave.

In a democracy, truth is not a source of terror

because it can be easily buried beneath an avalanche of harmless half-truths

and pleasant lies.

We will mature as a nation only when we take ideas as seriously as money.

To be easily satisfied with one’s own arguments

is an unmistakable symptom of mediocrity compounded by narcissism.

I like to read a writer who is not infatuated with the sound of his own voice.

Here is a good subtitle for a book on the history of Armenian literature:

"From Casting Pearls Before Swine to Sticking Pins into Swollen Egos."

ara, baby!

I loved this Work hard, but not too hard: you may be digging your own grave.

LOL... I think you worked hard. Well, being serious.

This is one of my prefered comments of yours. So dense and enourmous! Lot's of ideas. Bravo, Maestro!
