kakachik77
Hairy women are a turn-off to me also. And when I say hair I'm not talking about only leg and armpits..... images/smiles/converted/icon_redface.gif my turn-off is when the man does not like a hairy woman hehe
Anoushik
my turn-off is when the man does not like a hairy woman hehe style_images/master/snapback.png Recently I've noticed the growing trend of Armenian women waxing their arms. What's with that? It's simply mind-boggling. My American classmates don't wax their arms and they have thin layer of arm hair (nothing wrong with that, very natural). I want to mention that that American girls I'm talking about are brunettes and their body hair is a bit visible. So what? Most people I've seen with waxed arms are either Arabs (women working in the supermarkets) or Armenians. Why are these women so self-conscious of their bodies. Anoushik
I forgot to add that the reason I mention this is because I don't see our very hairy Armenian men waxing their arms!
ED
would you want to go out with a men who wax there arms??? and this is no way has to do with only Armenian men
Anoushik
Metrosexuals do it The anser is no, but I wouldn't mind if Armenian men waxed their chest Seriously, I think instead of the Armenian women spending so much time in the salons they could actually do something more productive, contribute more to our culture and society in general (starting by going to college). I realize that some number of women really do have hair problems but they are a small number in general. Why do Armenian women have to be pressured by the Armenian environment in LA (I don't want to say culture, it's never been part of our culture, and not society in general since no such things are very common or trendy in universities) and seriously start to feel that there is something wrong with their bodies, until finally they too get their arms waxed? I used to think just like you, but think diffrent now. It looks and feels much nicer this way
Anoushik
Feels nicer, maybe. But I don't believe it has anything to do with cleanliness. It's just very thin body hair! And boy oh boy, you guys are going to think I'm a hypocrite but of course I had to follow the trend Otherwise I found every Armenian staring at my arms. Pure pressure, nothing else. I think it's time consuming and unnecessary (and yes, go ahead and call me a feminist, I don't mind). My writing professor is a young, beautiful, elegant, sophisticated woman. She doesn't wax and I respect that so much. It's just horrible when one has to follow a certain trend because of immense pressure from others. Nané
Interesting. I have never felt the above mentioned pressure. I know women who wax and others who do not and I have always viewed it as a personal choice, not a decision made under pressure. Also, I don't think self-maintenance gets in the way of being a productive member of society. After all, men have to shave and get haircuts (more frequently than women). Nané
BTW, I can't stand guys who wax any part of their body
Anoushik
Also, I don't think self-maintenance gets in the way of being a productive member of society. After all, men have to shave and get haircuts (more frequently than women). style_images/master/snapback.png I don't want to be misunderstood. I think self-mainenance is very necessary for any civilized and intelligent individual. But it's not OK when too much emphasis is placed upon women's bodies and looks. It just shows yet again who are the powerful in a society and who's standards should women follow. In the developed countries it's the media that's constantly telling women their bodies are not good enough, not healthy enough, not beautiful enough, not desired enough. And most of the media is still run by men. Isn't this a perfect example of oppression? Men shave only their face. Women have had to shave/wax their underarms (this one I agree, is desired) and legs, and now arms. And may I say Brazillian wax??? Only recently did I find out about this but it's alarming how many women are willing (and feel it's their duty) to subject themselves to this physical and psychological trauma... I won't say anymore. I haven't done my music theory assignment yet and it's due tomorrow.
