Harut, I know you probably have sleepless nights trying to solve the last question but here is another one.

---------------

Two joggers run on an oval track in opposite directions. They start at the same time from point A. The first runner runs a constant seven-and-one-third feet per second, while the second runner goes only slightly faster at eight feet per second. They agree to quit their daily jog when both of them meet back at exacley where they start at the same time.

How many laps will each of the joggers complete that day?

If you want you can get Sip to write a program using Assembly to help you resolve this question.

Okay here is the question:

(x+a)(x-B)(x+c)(x-d)(x+e)... All the way to ...(x-z)
What is the answer to this long polynomial.

----------

Is that all I wrote in my previous post? I am a bonehead.

I think I meant to say that we use to use Assembler all the time in a previous job where we wrote low lever monitoring tools for Mainframes and Unix server.

Azat jan, i'm so happy that i got a friend like you.
who gives me such intersting problems.

it really helps me to look at things from different points.

like i did here.
and found the answer to be 0.

Wait not so fast Harut, don't you want to know what "a" is and what "b" is and all the others?

You know you are too sharp for your own good. You are going to end up being a good programmer.

Azat's math: 2+2=5 for extremely large values of 2

Harut's math: 150 + 150 = 44

Harut (or anyone else) do you know why? It is not trivial to figure it out so I'll give you a hint, that I can write a program which will prove the above is true

Also, why: 30000 + 35546 = 10 ?

http://zr2.cs.ucla.edu/Sip/zr2/roflmao.gif Oh man! That is so funny. I totally forgot about the Movses math!

I was trying to buy a digital camera the other day online and this guy (some store in new york) tells me to call them on the phone ... I call, I am almost ready to buy when he says ... "oh by the way, the battery and charger are extra! $150" ... I was like what the hell are you talking about? This camera comes with a battery and charger from the factory ... so he tells me "Oh, you want the USA kit, that's extra!" That was when I hung up the phone ... I was so angry I was laughing at myself

Sip, It is true Movses has great cameras, it's just if you want the memory card, the lens and the camera itself you have to pay a little extra.

What camera were you looking at? I got the Fuji 4800 for xmas for myself. I LOVE it.

By the way, that is a very common thing in the camera world where they show very low prices on the web until you call them and they try to add "fake" items that are already included in the pack.

it's very good buy Sip, i've got the nikon 995 and i'm very very happy with it, especially because you can experiment with the controls that allows you to experiment with the pictures. mine is just a bit big heavy, and you always need to bring extra batteries. but that's with most dig. camera's if you tend to use them a lot.

at work we've got the canon s40; it's slow because of the 4.something megapixels (i've even put it in less, 3 megapixels is more than enough to make sharp pictures) and the interface is way less self explaining than the nikon, and this one doesn't allow you to mess with the pictures. the only thing i like about it is that it's relatively small.

have fun with it!

Ah thanks! That makes me feel much better ... believe it or not I was thinking that the S40 may be faster ...

I can't wait for it to get here! I had an older one DC240 (Kodak) so I have been very used to digital cameras ... that one was stolen a few weeks ago (long story) but it was time for a new one

you're welcome; even better user test; i dropped the nikon last week (accidently -of course-), i was standing on a small platform and i was so focussed on not falling off that the camera slipped out of my hands. and YES it still works perfectly( after a 1.8 meter fall)but i wouldn't recomend you doing the same ...

I wish I had known movses jan ... I already got it off ebay a couple of days ago ...

I went with the Nikon 885. It was either that or the Canon S30 (or maybe even the S40 which is the same as s30 but 4.1 Mega pix instead of 3.3).

The Nikon has a lot of controls that let you mess with the picture it takes so that's why I went with it ... plus I like their lenses although I am not a pro photographer by any means!!!

I was also looking at Sony DSC-P5 but decided not to bother with memory stick ... I am sticking with compact flash for now.

Azat jan, i think i got this one too.

the slower one will run 11 lap, the faster one will run 12 laps.

thank you for your questions.

Quick question are these different BASE numbers? If so I can prove them fairly fast. If not, my head is still spinning.

Harut jan, He is Kirk, not "a relative". He drives a Aston Martin probably too. But that is good because we can make him buy us beer tomorrow.

No. Numbers are in usual base 10 (decimal). The hint is that it is computer related (it's one of those things where real computer math doesn't really agree with pure theoretical math).

Welcome to the board Edita!

What? No choice for 36? If the sister is 3 times as old as the brother, and the brother is 12, then she must be 36

Ok, at times like this, when I come up with an answer and the answer is NOT one of the choices, I just guess on a test ... I usually pick B since I know everyone else picks C ... so in this case, I am going to guess 20 ...

did I get it? did I get it?

if i had only kew b is always the right answer in school...would have made my life much easier!

of course it's 20!

4*3 =12+8+ 20

and the 8 comes from 12-4

i think you made the question more difficult than it really is!!! (or were you kidding?)

Hmmmm. Sip jan, There use to be 2 strands of hair on may head and one of the fell because I have been thinking about this problem too much. I either need more clues or the answer.
