OK guys let's have a little game with this! :P

If the first sentences above said "It's important to have a man", to which line from the above 1 to 4 would you place the names of Ashot, Sip, Azat and Harout. One name for one sentence only i.e. I would put Azat to number one. :)

Till death do us part?:

Psychologist says reshuffling of man/woman roles in families contributes to divorces

The main reasons of divorces in Armenia according to psychologist Seyran Amiryan are the reshuffling of roles of spouses in families during recent years, social problems, and change of domestic life. He adds that the critical stage for married couples is considered to be the first five years of their marriage.

“After overcoming the first five years [of marriage], people get divorced quite seldom, during that period children are born, spouses get used to each others’ habits,” says Amiryan.

According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, the number of marriages and divorces in Armenia has been on the rise in recent years as compared to the situation in the 1990s. In 1990, there were 28,000 marriages, in 2000 their number decreased, reaching 11,000, and last year 18,773 marriages were registered Armenia. As compared to 2000 (1,000 divorces), the number of divorces in Armenia increased in 2009 (2,920 divorces). However, according to specialists of the sphere, statistics cannot illustrate the real situation, because during recent years, the so-called, ‘hidden’ (unregistered) marriages and divorces became quite popular in Armenia. The highest rate of marriages is observed in the Gegharkunik, Armavir and Kotayk provinces, the most ‘inactive’ provinces are Syunik, Ararat and Tavush. A third of marriages and divorces falls on the capital city Yerevan, depending on the population distribution: 6,831 marriages and 1,249 divorces in 2009. Amiryan says that during the Soviet period the state was directing families from above – a husband had his responsibilities, a wife had hers; there was even a family concept. “Now, in democratic Armenia, women started thinking that they are emancipated, that they can go wherever they wish, and do whatever they wish. But we must consider that three generations live side by side, and we still have the patriarchal influence of our parents,” Amiryan says. According to the psychologist, financial problems, disagreements connected with child upbringing between young mothers and their parents-in-law, often result in divorces. “Unless the government takes care of ordinary people’s domestic, social-economic problems, unless it secures minimal living conditions for them, we will not have a prospect for development,” says Amiryan.
