The Hay Dat committee in Canada has condemned the violence in Tibet and the use of force against the civilians. They even offer their condolences to the Tibetans who lost their lives. At the same time, they, and the rest of the Armenian organizations that claim to represent the Armenian interests in the West, have been mum on the similar actions by the government in Armenia. There is nothing wrong with supporting the plight of the Tibetans but they are using double standards.

So basically, you are comparing the Chinese authorities recent actions as part of the genocide perpetrated against the Tibetins with the post election events in Armenia? The Chinese authorities recent actions are one among many, of a systematic repressive action to shut any criticism levelled against Chinese assimilatory plan of Tibet. Your comparaison is not much insulting to the Hay Dat, but to the Tibetins.

Yes, I am comparing the actions of the two governments. Both of them attacked peaceful protesters and both of them killed a few of these protesters. Both of these governments then suppressed the media and the internet, brought in troops and clamped down any dissent.

I view this move as not only a human rights position on Tibet but as a strategic move to strenghten Armenian-ruling government relations. Canadian PM Stephen Harper is staunchly anti-China and has not shyed away from speaking against China on the Tibet issue as well. With this condemnation, ruling government-Armenian relations can get nothing but better. After all, besides human rights, what does the Hye Tad have to gain from this condemnation?

Soon enough all these Armenian fringe groups will be denouncing the violence in Timor, supporting Inuit rights, criticizing the Colombian government over its incursion into Ecuador, and the list goes on and on.Perhaps they should be adopted by Amnesty International.

Do you guys know how big Tibet is? At 480,000 sq mi= 1,200,000 sq km it is about 500 times bigger than Yerevan Province.

Wait till the Tibetans suddenly discover that they are first cousins with kemal hamidoghlu(ian).

And what has the Dalai Lama been doing all this time except contemplating his navel?

We can learn from the Lama and contemplate our own navels for a change.

Note that the Dalai wears an apricot colored suit :ap:

This is really funny Arpa! I mean it's sad; but the way you put it sounds funny and you'd hope that all of our problems or at least most of them would be solved.

Սեւակը այդպէ՞ս ըսեր էր; Սեւակը որ մեծ մարդ էր ըլլայ խելքով, տաղանդով ու զգացումներով։

 

Եթէ Սեւակը այդ նկատեր էր արդէն միթէ ո՞վ կրնայ վիճաբանիլ Սեւակին հետ։

 

Բայց ես նաեւ շիտակը խնդալիք կը գտնեմ, որովհետեւ մանաւանդ այժմեան մեր հոգսերը այնքան մեծ են ու խրդին, մեզի միայն կը մնայ մեր անմիջական հոգսերով տոգորվիլ։
