It is absolutely against the law to have any financial benefit from organ donation. If you are paid, or request to be paid, for any transplant you will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. OPTN.org Actually what i meant was that lets say i am an organ donor and i die and someone takes my organ for his liver transplant lets say,, then the government/ hospital requires me,, well not me but my relatives to pay for the transplant for the other person,,,i mean the organ is donated and is required from the donor's family to take care of the financial part too,,,, but i dont know if this is true,,,,? Anoushik
mat@t push mtni tanen hivandanots toqit mek@ k@hanen esi americaya srants vra havat chka Yes, that's what I've heard of some people as well But come on, watching the news alone shows that organ donation is a very complicated legal matter. Even if you state in your will that you'd like to donate your organs, your family is still the one who makes that decision.
Yervant1
Guys the point is that when you die your organs are useless, therefore they need to take it out before you die. The fear is that in the hospital sometimes they rush it without giving you the chance to pull through in order to harvest the organs that is the dilemma. It doesn't apply I think anymore, but it isen't exactly like that. In practice, they have to conduct surgery on the deceased to remove the organ, so someone had to pay it while the person being saved, their family didn't see why they should pay for the surgery on that dead person when what matters for them is the surgery of the reciever. I don't know what happened with this in the US, here in Canada there is no such problem because surgeries are free paid by the government. They generally wait more then they waited before, and make sure of. The problem often happens with people who are being in a coma scale III which is near physical death. Some do survive even after doctors have said there is no chances of survival and have proposed to disconect and family members refused. The fear is that in the hospital sometimes they rush it without giving you the chance to pull through in order to harvest the organs that is the dilemma. ^^^Precisley why I changed my mind and removed sticker and notifed DMV that I am no longer a potential donor. ^^^^^ I have been under the impression that some organs are still useable if taken very early after death. Therefore, I have told all of my family members (and previously the ex) that I would want to donate any and all needed parts after I die. But some cultures believe that you have to be laid to rest whole ( or as whole as u were when alive... ) or else you upset the natural order of things?!?!?!? No idea. And I am sorry to bring this up, but after every funeral I have attended, I had recurring thought s for days about the body being consumed by maggots...certain parts of the body remaining intact, other parts consumed first...not very pleasent.. but I'd rather have cerain parts live on in someone else's body and enable life to go on... nairi
I don't think any of my organs are worth donating. If I'm wrong, then take them, by all means.

What I heard was that right after you die, they artificially keep the blood pumping through the organs, so they don't start rotting before they're removed.
