Where Do You Want To Live?

This is a topic I've been thinking about much in the last 2 years, and I think it's a very important decision in one's life.

I would like to live in Lebanon eventually.

Why?

1) Society

- Lebanese are very friendly and cordial people

- Great Armenian community with 2 out of 3 catholicossates in Lebanon; it is the hub of Western Armenian culture; great schools and community organizations

- Beautiful people :) [esp. women]

2) Food

- Organic food! What you pay a premium for in the U.S. and UK, people in Lebanon eat everyday... That is, fruit that tastes like fruit, and eggs with orange yolk

- Excellent Lebanese and Armenian cuisine (Lebanese and Mediterranean food in general are the most evolved cuisines in the world...)

- Very affordable

3) Beautiful nature

- Access to the Mediterranean sea

- Access to greenery and forest

- Access to snow and skiiing

- Go camping, fishing, or hunting whenever and wherever you want (friendly land owners)

4) Affordable housing

- For $100K you'll get a VERY nice apartment

- For $200K you'll build a nice home in the mountains

- For $500K you can build whatever you want

5) Lifestyle

- Fun-loving lifestyle of Lebanese society

- The beach and resort lifestyle during the summer (like you're in Miami) including beach parties

- Skiing and winter resorts during the winter

- Lounges, night-clubs, and restaurants year-round

So... all of this and it doesn't take millions of $$ to enjoy.

Retire early, retire young, retire in Lebanon :)

What more do you want in life?

Personally I would like to travel back and forth from the U.S. to Armenia.

I would love to buy an apartment or a house in Armenia and live in the U.S. half of the time and live in Armenia the other half of the time. That is 6 months in the U.S. and 6 months in Armenia.

That's how I see myself doing for the rest of my life. That's my wish!!

What's interesting is that my friend's dad is doing exactly like that, he is working at a company where he gets to travel back and forth all the time. Isn't that great.....

Yeah it is! I wonder how much it would cost to have a clothing store (a Boutique) in Armenia. My guess is about $50-60K.

I don't get it Yervant. My brain must not be functioning today.

Hi Shahan; I think I can answer that. You are very young blood and you don't think about retyrement; but Yervant is (a bit older) :P so he is thinking of retyrement in Lebanon. You see? :)

Bingo don't doubt your brain is still functioning well. :)

Yes you might die young to no fault of yours.

Gees Shahan, at first what Yervant said also crossed my mind then I dismissed my initial thought. :o and I told you the second thought.

Though I also felt at first that Lebanon is not a very safe place to go to even though it's a nice country.

[Where do you want to live ... Why nobody want to come in France ?

I was born here, I don't want to go elwsewhere.

In Armenia the winters are too cold. In Canada too.

Lebanon would be the bast place to live, but there is always war. Alas.

Ma chere Louise avant tous bonjour a toi et j'espaire que tu es bien. :)

I like Chirac and I am sure france is nice; but economically I heard that it's very bad. I heard that it is hard to find jobs. Entoucas.

I speak for myself of course, but other than my mother tongue which is Armenian, now that we have our wonderful motherland, I would love to live in Armenia or at least to go back and forth and live there half of my life. I would also like to promote their industry by perhaps opening up a shop and buying an apartment or a house there. How else can I claim to be a patriotic Armenian that I am if I don't act on these lines?

I would also love to live in Armenia because who else but Armenians can understand me better than Armenians?? After all we share the same likes and dislikes, we have a great deal in common, btw; our history, our sameness in many things. Some people would say that Armenians from Armenia have flaws; but which individual doesn't? Plus they are extremely intelligent and very patriotic which I love about them. Besides, even if I am from the Diaspora and they are raised and lived in the RA all their life; our most common factor is that we are all Armenians, we all love our country, we carry similar blood in our veins, our warmth and our love of Armenianism and Armenia. You see, in the U.S. I don't feel it is my home forever; because every day of my life I have to explain to the odars about my nationality, my sad history, and my whole being to them as they don't share what Armenians from Armenia or the Diaspora do share.

Of course I should be and I am thankful to the U.S. for opening their doors to me; however I feel that if I live in Armenia there's a great deal that I will share with my Armenian compatriots than anywhere else in the world and would be loving it too. :)

P.S. I also love Armenians in Glendale as I share and have shared a great deal with them and I have for the past two years which I am thankful for. :)

It is the same here. Welcome to USA!

USA produces more idiots per capita (which in a way is good for the business:)) than any other place.

I honestly don't believe that US is that bad. The trouble here is that in the UK low class families are far too many. Is it common in US to see the child cursing it's parents?

Oh, sweetie don't get me started... :o It is not common but it happens more often than one would imagine. America is very, very diverse country. There are many layers and many different worlds co-existing peacefully (or semi-peacefully) next to each other. My personal impression is that there is an instilled aggression in the Americans, esp. the young. Maybe it is due to the way they were brought up, or it has to do with the way of life. The freedoms and the independence turns them into little monsters with no manners, no etiquette, etc..

I did know that In US this was happening but didn't imagine it was that bad. I always compare UK with other European countries and UK is the worst. Its disgusting to see how every second word of a child is F---
