Parev all!

Can some people write to me some basics in Western-Armenian. Is there any similarities with Eastern Armenian?

How do you say a simple present tense sentence in Western Armenian?

For instance

I go shopping every day or

I sometimes read books

Thank you for helping

PS. I only know the word " thank you" in Eastern-Armenian which is shnorakalutsyun but I dont know the Western Armenian word for it.

Please feel free to write long replies about your language structure and its basics

you live in armenia, dont know westarmenian but say "parev"?

Yes, indeed HF6.

Who taught you to say Parev? Did you learn it at the Ermeni Fakultesi of Istanbul?

In Yerevan it is “Barev” as it is written with the second letter of Ayb Ben Gim. Like A B C. However. Don’t let anyone scare you.

Who told you that there are two different Armenian languages? Once one knows either Istanbulian or Yerevanian variant one knows both, albeit with slight and insignificant grammatical idiosyncrasies.. It is no different than Buda-Hungarian and Peshta-Hungarian.???

Dear Johannes,

Ok I'm trying not to ask you hard questions.

Of course I do not expect anyone to write street etc. I just only ask the city where they live but never complete addresses.

I'm Western Armenian! :) Well, can you read Armenian? Well, if you can't, I'll also put the English transliteration of what I put.

I go shopping every day. = Ես գնելու կ'երթամ ամէն օր: = Yes kuhneloo gertam amen or.

I sometimes read books. = Ես երբեմն գիրքեր կը կարդամ: = Yes yerpemuhn keerker guh gartam.

(Sorry, but I don't know how to show you the vowel's sounds)

Basically, the simple present tense in Western Armenian is "կը եմ", "կը իմ", and "կը ամ". (But, there are contradictions to this, like the "I go shopping every day." example that I did at the top, and by the way, that's only from the 1st point of view and singular.) The English transliterations of these are "guh yem", "guh eem", and "guh am". The different suffixes just depend on the verb, because verbs are divided into three categories: those that end with "yem", those that end with "eem", and thos that end with "am". The 2nd and 3rd points of view and whether its singular or plural change the present tense, so there is a variety of simple present tenses. :D

As for "Thank You", we usually say... Շնորհակալ եմ = Shunorhagal yem ... which really means "I am thankful", but we don't really use "Shnoragalutyun", as far as I know. :)

I don't think Western Armenian and Eastern Armenian are that different, but the sounds are the most distinct difference. The grammar and spelling isn't that different, though. Some spelling differences are that in Western Armenian, the suffix, "ուած", is written as "ված" in Eastern Armenian, and also, the suffix, "թիւն" is written as "թյուն" in Eastern Armenian. There are some grammar differences that I'm not quite sure of at the moment... Do you have any more questions? :)

I THINK the U is pronounced Ը in her sentence, and the K, Գ. So its not Qoonelo..:)

With all due respect to Western Armenians, we have discussed here the efficiency of the extreme Western pronunciation.
