A Long Journey Home

Armenak

I didn't know whether to place this in the Arts or Music section. It is a DVD, most of it containing Bayrakdarian singing and footage of Armenia. There are also interview clips where she reflects on her visit to the fatherland.

Synopsis from Amazon: International opera star Isabel Bayrakdarian travels for the first time to her ancestral homeland, Armenia. This documentary, filmed on location and recorded in surround sound, captures her recitals of Armenian and classical reportoire as well as performances of sacred music in the country's most ancient churches. Viewers are given the opportunity not only to hear one of the great voices of our time but also to visit a part of the world whose mystical landscape provides a haunting backdrop for the music. With the participation of Serouj Kradjian, Komitas String Quartet, Tatev Children's Choir, Yerevan Chamber Choir, Minassian Duduk Quartet and The Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra.

Have any of you seen it?

Yes it was done by CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Company). Very moving and emotional documentary.

It was aired Canada wide.

That is beautiful Azat, thank you.

Did any one else notice that she said “PAGAN Armenian Temple” about Zvartnots, and the song was titled as LE LE Yaman and she sang it with those words?

Interesting.

Arpa, I did notice that and was wondering why it would be called LeLe Yaman and not Dle Yaman.

BTW for those who have seen the video(which is just incredible) she mentions that it is her first trip and she is there with her fiance and the Katolikos blesses their engagement and such. She has been back... She was so happy with the whole experience of Armenian that she did her wedding in Armenian few months later

Yes Azat.

Is it because she does not known the meaning of dle and yaman?

Neither do we. We have spoken about it;

http://hyeforum.com/index.php?showtopic=7224&hl=yaman

“Le Le” may be another senseless phrase , at least it is universal. We have used it in many songs like “le le le le yar@” etc.

As to the “Pagan Armenian Temple” see Zvartnots, that was built 300+ years after Armenian Christianiy, in the History section..
