Accelerated
Hi guys, do any of you listen to the Russian group Tatu (2 young girls), they got some really nice (Russian) songs, though the English translations are pretty terrible because of the singers heavy accents

Harut
btw, one of their songs, "Skahzi Zachem", has a lot of duduk in it. is that how it originally sounds, or some Armenian dude remixed it?

In fact, I think the intro to Mama is played by Djivan Gasparian. There's also Chef or Shef, Russian rap group. No duduk, but I kind of like them. Rap in Russian sounds pretty cool. As for Tatu, they're lesbians. At least that's what some gay guys told me in Yerevan.

Armine
I have heard their songs and seen their clip on MTV, but I dont approve of what they represent which I think is one of the reasons why they sell so well and are getting ahead in the music industry in the U.S. Forgive me for not being so "open minded." I'm sure if they were two guys they would not get as much good publicity. Armine

Accelerated
I only found out about them when they started playing one of their English singles on radio here, but I much prefer the Russian ones (and understand them too ). Download the songs called, 'Robot' and 'More Lubvi' (Sea of love), I think these are the best. Apprently they have been very popular in Europe for a while now, not just Russia. And in interview they said they are bi-sexual (for publicity), but both have b/f. A family friend recently returned from Russia, and was telling us how these days to be cool and be in showbiz, you gotto be gay/lesbian....what has the world come to

Armine
Nairi Jan, yes I am refering to their homosexulaity. As for it being a rumor then why is it that when you do a search for them on yahoo or google it takes u to a offical or fan website that has pictures of them in poses that future perpetuate the idea of their homosexulity? Let them do what ever they want I really dont care, its their life, It is just something I do not enjoy... its something that conflicts with my understanding of morals and ethics. The fact that homosexuality is Largely a learned act not really the biological story we are all familiar of hearing, their might be some that are just biologically that way, but all the homosexuals in this world are not so...its very hard for me to believe that. Again forgive my "conservative/ oldheaded" point of view, it is just not reasonable to me. I dont know for sure if they are hedrosexual, homosexual or bisexual, or if they just use the image to sell, which I think is the case..either way it doesn't make a differece, the representation of it is enough to turn me away. Nané
i believe you're reffering to Alegrova. it's expected from her. her mother is Armenian (or half. not sure).FYI: I believe she's half-Armenian (if not full-blooded Armenian) and I know for fact that she's Karabaghtsi And I recall someone (who had served in the Armenian army during the Karabagh War) telling me that she gave a concert for the troops right in Shushi. Nané
This sounds too nice, but yeah, basically in Russian showbiz its hip to be gay........go figure. I don't think it's just the Russian showbiz. It's showbiz in general. I can't remember a movie I've seen lately where homosexuality was not at least hinted. It's a trend that more and more artists are following. Let's take Tatu. Yeah, I like their music. They have a nice beat and the songs are catchy but ... why did they become so popular all of a sudden? Russian pop/techno/trance (whatever you wanna call it) is booming and there are singers and bands poping up every day. Why not TT or Virus or Ruski Razmer. Why Tatu? These girls know how to get Europe's attention ... they are gay/bisexual (whatever) and are not ashamed to advertise it. Their boldness made them attractive to the showbiz world. End of story ... I may not "approve" of the gay lifestyle but I have made a habit of separating the artist/singer/writer/etc from the "individual." What they do in their personal life, or what their political opinions or moral standars are do not interest me whatsoever. If I enjoy what they create ... then that's as far as our interaction goes.
