Sunday evening, I am on business in New York City, flipping channels and suddenly Armenian on TV.

Yea, ANCA was raising money for their organization to help their cause. The thing I find strange, however, is how they are "affiliated" so well with the AYF/ARF Tashnagtsutsyoon.. hmm?

I don't mean to offend you if you're Dashnak, but I think it's important for organizations that have a purpose that relates to the entire Armenian community as a whole, it should not favor any single party. ANCA serves all Armenians and should focus on working with Dashnaks, Hnchaks, et al. to move the US government to recognize the Armenian genocide.

If people are donating money to ANCA they should be sure that these dollars aren't going to fund politicians they do not support.

no, I'm not Dashnag, and i do and did support ANCA for a very long time now, for a fact i know all organizations and partys work with ANCA who has done outmost best job for recognition of AG

in the other thread you call for "we are all Armenian" thats good, dont contradict yourself ;)

being critical is very vital and healty for any sociaity, but there is got to be a healty other side of the coin, ANCA or AAA, HNCHAK OR DASHNAK, noone is perfect, including me and you, there will always be a loop holes

I am a Tashnag and I do support ANCA and I certainly do believe in everything that ANCA and Tashnagtsoutyun does. :)

One of the most patriotic Armenian organization is undoubtedly the Tashnagtoutyoun.

so, they do a great work but for some unkown reason you wont support them?

Azat, Dashnaktsutyun has a very long history, sure they had setbacks, so does any organization, but had a major role during late 19th century, and early 20th, Arabo, Qeri, Andranik, Smbat, axpyur Serop, Gevork chaush, Murad, Ruben, Drastamat kanayan, Soxomon Leleyan, Aram Manukian etc......

so what if ANCA is assoiated with Dashnaktsutyun, they are the only solid and well organized lobby in washington or anywere, did a lot and continue to do so

Edward, don't try to get witty or clever with me, it's cute but not that cute. First of all, your statement doesn't even make sense try looking at what i wrote then read what you responded with.. anyways i am not here to make enemies or argue, just to discuss.

I haven't contradicted myself at all, and just as i believe all armenians should be united as one, i feel that ANCA should be careful not to offend any party of armenians because it would hinder its efforts. ANCA is a powerful organization with a lot of ambition, it should continue its casue because it has had a great impact on the Genocide issue. Nonetheless, associating itself with a political party raises questions, isn't that what happens with anything political related.. When Arnold was running for the governor position in California, people were raising the issues about his father being a member of Hitler's army or something, i don't remember the exact facts... though unrelated you can see why affiliations and ties can hurt people or organizations.

Umm yea... feel free to criticize me i enjoy hearing from all of you.. I'm new to this forum (registered yesterday) go easy bolores hye enk!

I also don´t see anything wrong with ANCA but I thought twice before donating. I am all in favour of supporting serious institutions even though I traditionally supported/participated in AGBU and ADL. But to each its own. BTW, I have just watched a Swedish documentary, "I hate dogs" by the same people that did "Back to Ararat". This is a short but well worth watching.

Parev Hye Ishkhan: Armenian prince, right? pari yegar hazar parov, welcome.

I would like you to know though if you don't know, or remind you if you do know, that Tashnagtsutyun fought for 30 years on the mountains of 'partsr Hayk' of Eastern Armenia. They did it because it was a catch 22 matter. They did it because their daughters were being raped and their children snatched and highly taxed and you can continue the etceteras... Now some people would turn around and say well, that's why we were annihilated by the Turks, that's a lot of bogus. The only reason we were annihilated by the Turks is because alongside the greedy Jews who were jealous of our brilliant Armenian entrepreneurs, they wanted us both (the Turks and the Jews) out of the country and dead as a nation....all of the Armenians. Whether we fought or not we were going to be killed as a nation by the Turks anyway.

Furthermore, after the 1915 Genocide by the Turks, luckily when Turkey was tired of the 1st WW in 1918, under Tashnagtsoutyun Gousagtsoutyun and with the great and bravery leadership of the great Aram Manookian, the whole country of Armenia fought as one breath one fist and one soul against Turkey and won. All of Armenia recognized Tashnagtsoutyun and put all their living faith into the Tashnags. Almost everyone in Armenia then was Tashnagtsagan. Let's not forget that. As we know in our history we won against the Turks by fighting (men, women, young and old) fought and we achieved and have acquired our independence after 600 years of oppressive bloody Mongolian Turkish regime, to have our very own and beautiful independence. We kept it until 1921 until the Bolsheviks came and put their big bear hands on us.

Let's not forget dears that Tashnagtsoutyun is an extremely reputable organization started with the utmost dedication of patriotism and continued it's course for 116 years now. If it wasn't for Դաշնակցութիւն, Հայ Դատ չէր լինի. If it wasn't for Tashnagtsoutyun there wouldn't be ANCA or Hay Tad. This is a fact. It is because of the utmost dedication of Tashnagtsoutyun who first conceived the idea and have implemented it for so many years that ANCA has and it's still achieving to great lengths.

I am not disputing with you friend, but merely informing you or if you do know then I am reminding you of these very important historical facts that would make any nationality extremely proud!

no Ed, it is a very well known reason. they are associated with Dashnaktutu.

The Republican party has had great leaders and has done great work as well, but I will not donate any money to any organization that has close association with them either.

When we get over the notion that a Dashnak is worse than a Turk, when a Hnchak is even worse, when Rankavar is worse than a Turk, when Ejmiatsin is worse than a Mosque and Antelias is worse than a “mzkit”. !!!!

Have you noticed how the mosque is taking over the Church?

WHY?

When the Christian world is divided between Catholic and Protestant, Apostolic and Pohoqakan, Ejmiattsin and Antelias.

ANCA is the political action arm of the ARF, Armenian National Committee of America

http://www.anca.org/

Just as ARAMAC, the political action committee of the Aassembly is.

http://www.aaainc.org/advocacy/ARAMAC_form.php

Call them “lobbies” if you will. It is not a four letter swear word.

They have both done a wonderful job in promoting the Hay Dat in one hand and the “infant” RA on the other.

So much waste!!

Can we get together and create a new and improved PA(Political Action,). Do you know who has a unified PA?). A United Armenian Political Action Committee known as ARMPAC.?

Of course! Who am I to suggest such a “blasphemy” when one of the tiniest nation as can be is divided between the “dashnak” Antelias and “non-dashnak” Ejmiatsin. When did they become symbols of nationhood? Over a billion Catholics have one Pope, over 200 million Russians have one Patriarch. Leave it to the Armenians, the “:first Christian, civilized people” to have one Catholicos for each of us and one PA for every one of us.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Snore! Snore! Snore!

Wake me up when we become ONE TINY NATION.

Those of us who are promoting one over the other, justifying the existence of one over the other are doing nothing short of running to a fire with can of gasoline. Go ahead! Burn us down to ashes while the Turks as unified as they may be (all 70 millions of them have one PA site. Do you want to know what that is? Look up ATAA)), are erasing every vestige of us. How many kinds of Turks can there be?

How many kinds of (Dashsnak/Hnchak) Armenians??

Don’t we all profess khash and harissa to be our national dishes??

Arpa,

Even though we see things quite differently, this is one of three issues with which I agree with you 100%

Arpa:

Though I have read a long time ago a Tashnag leader who said that it is good to have a couple of parties to keep us going; but here in the Americas or all over the diaspora, the new generation of Armenians are being assimilated and sometimes quite fast too. True I grew up with a lot of idealisms and am still idealistic. But there is nothing wrong in ameliorating and somewhat changing your ideas as you grow up and grow out of it. I hear you. We are small yet we are divided as we were in our highlands during our times of Arshaguniats dynasty or Mamigonian Dynasty, etc. etc. You are saying that the same phenomenon is still ongoing and should it be? We are now in the diaspora and we should already grow out of it and concentrat to survive as a nation and in unity.

Frankly, I don't know the answer, even though I admit I have been a Tashnag all my life and I admit that I still am. But a lot of those organizations are doing and have done a lot of good; such as the ANCA. If however, the Tashnag party wasn't behind it, would they have achieved as much as they did? I don't think so.

What you are suggesting is a good and wishful thinking to become finally united and forget any gousagtsoutyuns; but for that we need to have a strong hierarchy to get them all together and say and do that, which is your wish and perhaps of many others too. The other option is by some miracle when we have a stronger and larger Armenia someday. :)

The ARF is basically the parent organization for the AYF, ANCA, ARS and Hamazkayin. What is so wrong or strange about that?

THe ANCA works for ALL Armenians in Washington, not just Tashnag related ones. Their efforts on genocide recognition, aid to Armenia, trade relations with Armenia, the Humanitarian Aid Corridor Act, the Armenian Caucus - these are not Tashnag issues - these are pan-Armenian issues. They and the Armenian Assembly work very hard to push these issues in Congress and with the Administration. The Armenian Assembly is perceived as being run by one or two very wealthy individuals while the ANCA has much more grassroots support. Either way, both do a lot of good work. My only gripe with the AAA is TARC.
