shaunt
as for the people who attend the Concert and pay the TOP MONEY - same people who more or less control the downtown jewelers market - the BOlsa Hays - who don;t even speak Armenian to you wan you approach them - who made turkish the interArmenian Language in dawn tawn LA - just go to 6th and Hill or broadway - most of the buildings in jewelers district are owned by them... My dad told me about these "Armenians." He went to a store in downtown ran by one of them to find the people inside watching a Turkish soccer game, and speaking in Turkish. Needless to say, he was angered (to the point of wanting to assault these "Armenians").
Yervant1
Couple years ago on vacation, I met some Hayastantsiner and asked them as to why our Armenian singers who are born in Armenia and raised there are singing like turkish with Armenian words? Their answer was because that's where the money is. Meaning they are doing it for the Bolsahays. Is this true?
Azat
I dont think they are doing it for the Bolsahay members of our community specifically. I think they are doing it for all Armenians as all of them prefer that type of music.

kakachik77
ok, not to be the devil's advocate but I think people in America are free to do whatever they want, just because she is ethnically Armenian this does not mean she has to hate everything Turkish. In fact, in my humble opinion, Turkish music is much more pleasant than the Armenian rabiz (which happens to be a really really bad immitation of Turkish songs or sometimes Persian). Let's not mix politics with arts, in fact maybe through arts these 2 people can finally find a common language...I mean I am really tired of hating. My concern is not about hating the turkish music, it's about the immitation as you pointed out. They can sing in Turkish if they like but not in Armenian ala Turkish tunes. Arpa
Have you guys heard about the bomb threat today at some Turkish concert? They had to cancel it. They spent all that money for nothing From Groong. ---- LAPD Investigates Bomb Threat At Palladium From: "Katia Date: Sat, 25 Feb 2006 21:30:58 -0800 (PST) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CBS 2, CA Feb 25 2006 LAPD Investigates Bomb Threat At Palladium (CBS) LOS ANGELES Los Angeles police investigated a bomb threat at the Hollywood Palladium Friday night, where Turkish singer Sibel Can Concet was scheduled to perform. Officers from the LAPD's Hollywood Division say that the bomb came from an Armenian caller who said if the singer performed, they would blow the building up. There is a cultural history of conflict between Armenians and Turks over the Armenian Genocide, in which an estimated 1.5 million Armenians died at the hands of the Ottoman Turks between 1915 and 1923. Gor-Gor
Have any of you ever realized that some Armenians from Turkey are assimilated and do not even speak Armenian? But even the ones who do speak Armenian, you have to understand that whether you like it or not, Turkey is their home country. Just like Armenians from Beirut and Aleppo long for Lebanon and Syria, they speak so highly of those countries and listen to Arabic music, etc, so are the Armenians from Turkey. They listen to Turkish music because that is what they grew up with.
