Կը յիշէ՞ք այդ հի՜ն մեքենաները: I know this forum is about Science and Technology and this isn't exactly cutting edge technology, but... Anyway, has anyone here actually seen an Armenian typewriter? If an Armenian model does exist - I have never heard of one myself - it's probably gathering dust in someone's attic. I'll try to send an e-mail to a few Armenian schools and community centres in Canada... Who knows. Some of them were around in the 70s... They must've used typewriters back then... By the way, how do you say "typewriter" in Armenian? Գրամեքենա(յ)? I can't find anything in Google, but that may be because nobody thought to write about a typewriter in Armenian... It isn't a very recent piece of technology, after all... Meanwhile, if anyone reads this post and has an Armenian typewriter or knows someone who does and who would be willing to sell it, please reply. Another note: we are not as backward as you think, Armenians had the second highest number of PhDs compared to the population ratio in the former Soviet Union (of course after Jews . I don't think Eastern or Western would make a difference, since we all use the same letters... Another note: we are not as backward as you think I didn't say I thought Armenia was backward. I know almost nothing about Armenia during the Soviet era, and I thought that maybe people used Russian instead of Armenian for official business... I guess I was wrong (and I'm happy I was wrong).
