It does on my desktop computer. On my laptop, I had to use the VESA option, though, because PCLinuxOS had trouble detecting my video card. -- Ա.

Well, I've been trying PCLinuxOS for a couple of days now (I'm using it right now) and it's one of the best distros I've seen so far. Really easy for someone who's not too familiar with Linux. Everything I tried worked right away (networking, printing, mp3s, videos, DVDs, Flash, Java, etc.) -- I didn't need to download any extra packages and make dozens of adjustments. Եվ շատ պարզ է PCLinuxOS-ը կազմաձևել Հայերեն գրելու համար (if one needs to be able to write in Armenian; I know it's more complicated with some distros for someone who's not too comfortable with Linux). In short, it's very user-friendly, and it looks pretty nice. I'm going to leave it on my computer for a while... -- Ա.

I like the simplicity and the efficiency, I guess. I'm not really a Linux expert, so I can't give you a very "technical" reason. Debian used to be somewhat outdated (their philosophy was to use old but 100% stable software), but version 4.0 is pretty good. It's now pretty much like Ubuntu (which makes sense since Ubuntu is Debian-based), but without the extra stuff which I find useless. But that's just me... I like vanilla ice cream, which most people find boring.

I use Debian 4.0 myself. I also liked Ubuntu a lot, but I prefer Debian.

An advertisement, you're right. I think it's appropriate since the subject is about homosexual armenians. I don't do this in a normal social occasion, that's what I meant. I think you understand that.

You know, I think it's not really worth spending so much time and energy talking about this. We only have one life to live, so we should make the most of it, enjoy ourselves, be happy, love one another. I think we should just live and let live. I always find it annoying when people talk about homosexuality. There are more important things to spend time talking about, like the environment, human rights, pauverty, war, oppression, etc. And you know, the funny thing is that I'm (half) Armenian, I'm gay, I'm married to a man who's not Armenian (I live in Canada so the marriage is legal), I don't look, dress or act gay, I don't go to gay bars, I don't flaunt myself half naked in gay parades (I don't watch them either), and none of the gay people I know do those things. I consider myself a relatively normal person, just a person who happens to love a man instead of a woman. And it's not just the "sex" -- I really "love" him. I know who I am and what I'm worth. I don't care what others think of my being gay. I don't advertise it, I never say "Hi, my name is Alex and I'm gay", but if people ask me if I'm married, I simply say yes, and if they ask me about my wife, I tell them it's actually a husband. No advertisement, but no lies, no shame, no hiding. Enjoy your lives, for it's short and we only have one to live. Peace.

Great. I don't think Eastern or Western would make a difference, since we all use the same letters... I didn't say I thought Armenia was backward. I know almost nothing about Armenia during the Soviet era, and I thought that maybe people used Russian instead of Armenian for official business... I guess I was wrong (and I'm happy I was wrong).

Vava, that's what I'm hoping for, that someone will have one in their attic Եթէ գտնեմ, վստահ եղէք, որ նկարը հոս կը դնեմ: Edward, thanks for the offer... May is pretty far away, we'll see until then. I'll try to send an e-mail to a few Armenian schools and community centres in Canada... Who knows. Some of them were around in the 70s... They must've used typewriters back then... By the way, how do you say "typewriter" in Armenian? Գրամեքենա(յ)? I can't find anything in Google, but that may be because nobody thought to write about a typewriter in Armenian... It isn't a very recent piece of technology, after all... Meanwhile, if anyone reads this post and has an Armenian typewriter or knows someone who does and who would be willing to sell it, please reply.
