dianjan
Armjan, don't blame just turks for this "mistake". Many times after somebody asks my background and gets a response of "Armenian", the second question that follows is "Is that Jewish?" Sounds extremely narrow-minded but this happened to me at least 5 times. To note also, I wear a crusifix around my neck which is quite visible. style_images/master/snapback.png I never had someone ask if that was Jewish, but one person asked me if Armenians were muslim. Which, pissed me off a lot.
phantom22
I was a young child of eight years, sitting in a closed stall in the boy's restroom at our American Protestant church school. Two fellow classmates came in and began talking about our family. One said "My mother wants to know when they are going to run these "Jews" out of our church? So it is not only Turks who think Armenians are Jews. Even Armenian peasants in the outskirts of Van considered the Armenians of the city of Van, Jews. I have been mistaken for Arab, French, Italian, Iranian as well.

Stormig
Looser? Well, you never know until you try. Mmmm ... nevermind. style_images/master/snapback.png Nothing to be proud of in exhibiting Armen's loose stools.
Nakharar
Sometimes I'm more surprised at people who have actually heared the word Armenian.

If you guys saw the movie "My big fat Greek wedding", there's an episode where Toula meets her fiancees family and the dad asks her where she's from. Then he proceeds to say that, he thinks that his secretary was Greek, oh no Armenian, oh no She was from Brazil. That's nothing, when I just came to USA (10 yrs. ago), when people used to ask me where I'm from, I used to say Tbilisi, Georgia. 99% thought that I meant, Georgia, USA and that they didn't know Tbilisi was a city in that state. After few times, I stopped. I just tell them that I'm Armenian and that's good enough.

gamavor
A prominent local attorney visited the CHURCH in the city where I live, trying to locate translator for a case that he was in charge. I talked on the phone with him and few hours latter he sent me the brief of the case and some other related materials that should have been translated. The "Armenian" defendant's name was Mohamed Shakiri, born in Tirana, Albania! In my experience Americans after Marocans are the most ignorant group of people! That's why Canadians call Americans - Amarocans!

phantom22
"Armenian, isn't that just north of Greece?" I get that fairly often. Did you know that even today most Americans can not place Iraq on a map. No wonder they elected you-know-who President. It will work in our favor, however. I have a strange feeling that the Genocide Resolution will pass his year. I may be wrong, but my gut feeling is that the Jews will not stop it this year nor will the US military.
