Have you seen Steve Vai and Joe Satriani along with Eric Ford in concert? I saw them in San Francisco 4 years ago, there is a DVD available for that concert. Listening to this song in both the instrumental and choral forms gave me an appreciation for Arthur Schopenhauer's remark that lyrics dminished the purity of the musical experience (or something to this tune). This is one song in which the singing ruins the beauty of the music. That's a little bit more recent than what I had in mind, but nevertheless quite good.
