Armenak
I know that song! The singer is Taline. Sometimes she performs at the Alex Theatre in Glendale. nairi
Please help! I am looking for a Children's CD, and one of the songs goes like this: "Shokegarke pouf, pouf, pouf, arak, arak ge vaze......". I need to find out the name of the singer and possibly where the CD can be purchased. My friend recently had a baby and I want to surprise her because the child is way too young for The Beatles. Thanks in advance. Here you go: http://www.sendspace.com/file/21a82i (not sure if it's the version you're looking for)

Arpa
At the risk of reviving an old thread… Let’s see if we have found more?My impression of Nairi’s thread was about rhymes and ditties played in “show and tell” for 2-3 year olds, who are just learning to speak orally or with hands.. And that is why most of my posts addressed that category for those under the age of 3 . Not like those over the age of 30 youth and teenage “lenin qeri” or "pionerner”, neither it is the likes of the adult song hnkalla/hoviv@ saroum tkhrets“ etc..There so many mothers and grandmothers here. How do you speak to your 2 year old? Do you read them passages from Iliad or Odissey? Maybe Narek's Voghberganq/elegy/thanatology/funerary speach? My granddauaghter who is just learning to speak, she can speak better with her hands rather than her mouth, knows the meaning of “tsapik”, even if she can’t pronounce the word, she tries to put her hands together ծափիկ ծափիկ Did you know that ԾԱՓԻԿ /clapping is from the native word ԾԱՓ based on ԱՓ to mean palm (of the hand).** http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-K525Lx9KOBA/TVyIQ4B9UvI/AAAAAAAACE0/ZPFUkcuCqXQ/s1600/clapping-hands-lg1.jpg ** See Siamanto’s Ափ մը մոխիր Հայրենի տուն/A handful of ash my Ancestral Home. Nané
My daughter has been amusing us with her ծափիկ as well. In response to «ծափ-ծափ» or «ծափիկ-ծափիկ» she smiles her widest smile, squints her eyes and starts clapping. Sometimes she holds one hand in place and claps with the other, like she's at the opera Kids are such a joy! One of my favorite songs growin up was the following: When my husband heard me singing this to our daughter, he asked me not to sing the "sad and depressing" song any more. So I adapted. Whenever I sing it she smiles and shrieks

It is a dream and a promise by a “թիզ ու կէս” to grow up and become a philanthropist. Arpa
I can't find an all inclusive site of Armenian Lullabies.--Օրօր իմ բալաս; http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51YL0DsezmL._SS500_.jpg Watch this and the companion videos; This could as well be a picture of us. My granddaughter is madly in love with her daddy. Did I mention that sometime ago my daughter wanted to marry me? There seems to be an anthology of Armenian Lullabies by Hasmik Harutiunian, from many regions.(if incomplete)How about Kilikia, Aparan, Gavar, Javakh, Yerevan, Artsakh ** et al? The audio is very poor, yet;**In my book I have not yet found a site with their Armenian cradle songs. You mean to tell me that the Artsakhtsi mother did not sing lullabies? Where are all of our Artskahtsi friends? Are we so detached from our Native Culture? Or, are all those lullabies in the russki and boobjanski language?Of course they did like;Լենին քեռին եկել է, Դռան ետին կեցէլ է,Ստալինին հռել է:Լուռ կեցեք տղաքներՏեսնենք ինչեր բերել է:http://www.emusic.com/album/Hasmik-Harutyunyan-with-the-Shoghaken-Ensemble-Armenian-Lullabies-MP3-Download/10867287.html Edited March 19, 2011 by Arpa
